Soren must have been staring too long at Arianna after he realized who's name it was being called a moment ago because Rikard finally took notice, fallowing Soren's gaze to Ari.
Rikard suddenly got a devilish grin on his face and lightly elbowed Soren in the ribs. "Hey, isn't that the medic that patched up your arm?" Rikard said with raised eyebrows, his grin broadening. Soren ignored him and shoved more food in his mouth, but his face had gone completely red.
"Why don't you go sit with her? She's all alone." Rikard continued to pry, as he was well aware of Soren's shy nature. Soren had then grabbed his bowl and was about to dump what was left of his food on Rikard's head when Erik suddenly walked in, happily smiling as usual. He walked over to get what was left of the now cold food and then went and sat down with Soren and Rikard.

Ari looked to Rikard who seemed to take much fun from teasing poor Soren and though it cracked a small smile for her, she just shook her head and finished up what was left of her food. She figured she might be able to get in for a late shower before the soldiers would be ordered to their rooms for the night.

"Awe, Erik, you scared her away. And we were making some progress too weren't we, Soren?" Rikard said, taking the opportunity from the unfortunate timing to get some jokes in on Erik too.
Erik was only confused as to what Rikard was talking about, but decided to eat his food anyways as he stared questionably at Rikard.
"You're such a dweeb." Soren said as he pulled on Rikard's goggles that were resting on his head and then let go of them, making them snap back with a light thud. "Owe!" Rikard rubbed his head as tears welled up in the corner of his eyes from the sting. "Erik, call rank on him and make him stop being such a bully!" Rikard whined, being very childish. "You know I don't use my rank like that, besides, Soren is older then both of us. Maybe you should learn to respect your elders?" Erik just laughed, as Soren flashed a victory smirk at Rikard. "Not fair, it sucks being the youngest in this squad." Rikard pouted, crossing his arms
Rikard was basically the same age as Luka, and him and Erik were only a little over a year apart. Soren, however, was three years older then Erik which was why Erik valued his insight so much.

Ari stood from her table and went off to the showers. Getting the first jump at hot water to relax her sore aching body.. Imprinted lines from the body harness were embedded into her skin, what ever dried blood was left could be washed away from the days work.
Ari started to sing lightly as she washed her hair
"Are you, Are you, Coming to the tree."
"They strung up a man, they say who murdered three"
"Strange things have happened here, no stranger would it be"
"If we met at midnight, In the hanging tree."

It didn't take very long for Erik and the others to force the last of their food down and finish. Erik then stared at his clothes, which were still lightly splattered with blood. "Guess I better change before lights out." Erik said as he stood up to leave.
Soren and Rikard had already changed into clean clothes and washed up, but Erik only had the time to wash his face and hands after volunteering to untack all their horses.
"Yeah, we should call it a night too." Rikard said, yawing as he stood up. Soren nodded in agreement and got up too, leaving for the barracks as well.

Once the hot water ran dry Ari stepped out and dried herself off. It was already quite dark, the cold really setting the chills into her skin. She dried her hair and slipped into some comfortable clothes to sleep in for the night.
Ari yawned and took the first few steps into the hall way, walking to the barracks as she started to sing lightly again..
"Are you, are you"
"Coming to the tree"
"Where dead man called out"
"For his love to flee."
"Strange things did happen here"
"No stranger would it be"
"If we met at midnight"
"In the hanging tree."

When Erik had finally reached the barracks and changed into some more casual clothes for the night, he flopped down on his bed with a huge sigh. It would have felt great except Erik was worrying too much to relax.
Something was bothering him, aside from his brother dying, he couldn't help but be concerned about what may come next now.
In the span of over 100 years the walls had never been broken through, but now only 5 years apart, it happened twice. There was a pattern developing, and Erik didn't like it at all.

Ari layed down on her bed and curled up i her side. Her eyelids were heavy and just about to close when one of the newer recruits came to her. Her name was Sica, she stood with her big innocent doe eyes and her black hair wet and pulled back.. She was quite new to this, the death that surrounded the survey corps had not yet fully cloaked her.. she was still a child, a lost child.
Arianna sat up just as Sica collapsed down into her arms. Crying out into Aris shoulder. Ari sighed softly and rubbed the girls back, murmuring
"shhh.. you're alright.. it's okay."
But it did little to calm Sika down, Ari knew that the poor girl would just have to cry it out. Arianna began to sing once more.
"Are you, are you,Coming to the tree"
"Where I told you to run, So we'd both be free."
"Strange things did happen here"
"No stranger would it be"
"If we met at midnight"
"In the hanging tree."

Erik leaned up against the back of his bed more and stared out the window off to his right that was facing north. Out in the distance, the peaks of mountains were barely visible. A song he once heard suddenly came to mind, he remembered he would sing it with his brother and friends while they worked. He began singing quietly, very thankful that he had his own room to himself because he was a captain.
"Oh, misty eye of the mountain below,
"Keep careful watch of my brothers' souls"
"And should the sky be filled with fire and smoke"
"keep watching over our children" Erik's eyes slowly closed as he drifted off to sleep, too tired to stay awake any longer.

What felt like an eternity really wasnt so when Ari felt that Sica had quieted down and even seemed to have fallen asleep here against her, She yawed and carefully leaned back as to not wake Sica..
"Still such a child.." Ari murmured to the sleeping girl.. Finally the quiet set in and her heavy eyelids closed.. sinking into sleep.

Soren sat up in his bed for quite awhile, unable to sleep. The guilt of what happened to Luka in Trost was eating at him, he felt it was all his fault. Erik made the split second decision to go off into pairs, Erik and Rikard, and Soren and Luka, so they could cover as much lost ground as possible.
If he hadn't taken his eyes off of Luka maybe he wouldn't have gone off on his own and he'd still be alive. Soren blamed himself.
They had a 6 man squad barracks all to themselves, so they had their pick of any bed. Soren looked over in the direction where Rikard was sleeping, on the other side of the room opposite from him. Rikard was already long fast asleep, the only thing visible of him was his auburn hair as he snored lightly.
Erik was the captain and the authority figure of the group, but Soren always took it upon himself to be like their big brother. With the loss of Luka, he felt he had failed in protecting his family.
Soren just sighed and shook off the feeling, as he sunk into bed and tried to sleep.

(Skipping to morning) Dawn came faster than expected, Ari woke from a hard sleep. Sica must have woken in the night because she was gone now. Most were still asleep but Ari pulled herself up and dressed for the day in a clean uniform. pulling on her jacket, she went to the mess hall and made some coffee.

Soren was already sitting at a table alone in the mess hall, nodding off between sips of his coffee. He was unable to sleep well so he decided to get up early, before Erik or Rikard. He hadn't been awake for that long though, as he was still on his first cup of coffee.

Ari took notice of Soren. Filling her cup of coffee before coming back over to the table he was sitting at. She sat across from him.
"You're up early." She commented lightly to Soren.

Soren nearly jumped out of seat, startled that Ari had come and sat across from him and was talking to him. He almost tipped his mug over and spilled the last of his coffee.
He cleared his throat. "Uh-yeah, couldn't stay asleep." Soren stammered a bit, his face beginning to turn red. He fidgeted slightly, building up his courage.
"And you? You're up early too." He asked, unable to keep eye contact.
