"My name is Frampton. And don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you," he said sincerely, approaching her bit by bit.

He dug his freezing hands into his pockets, fishing for a morsel of food he found on the person of a dead soldier. Sure it may not be the best thing to eat, but he merely supposed it would be better than starving to death. When he had them gripped in his cold palms, he offered one to the strange girl.

"Do you want a ration? It might not be much, but they will curb the hunger for a bit." He asked this gently, a small smile now on his face.

Arai glanced away from his face for a brief moment to glance at what he was offering. She moved forward hesitantly, Her bright blue eyes never leaving his as she sniffed the Ration. In a careful movement she reached out and took the small package before backing up again and examining it. It smelled like food... She tried to bite the whole thing. The outside did not appear to be food. Her canines left holes in the packaging, allowing her to peel it apart and get what was inside. Whatever the strange food was, was gone with in moments. Arai stared at the odd outer layer for a few moments before suddenly stuffing it in the bag under her hood. The snack satisfied her growling stomach a fair amount. Her gaze returned to the man called Frampton.

There was a beat of silence before the girl stood up reaching her normal height. She wrapped the dirty red cloak around her arms and peered you from the shadow of her hood. "My name is Arai." She said softly before hearing herself add. "Thank you." She paused wondering what she should do next. Part of her wanted to find a way back to the forest...however another part of her wanted to stick around and find water. A tiny part of her wanted both to get away from the people, and to stay with them. She twitched her head slightly as she felt confused. "I followed someone here...now I do not know what to do." She heard herself say. It was the truth. Arai did not expect help from this Man, Frampton, so she took a few steps away facing the street and looked around.

Well. That was weird. Frampton thought. This is no ordinary girl... I wonder...

Frampton stood up when he saw her facing the streets, looking around. Arai was her name, unique, something he had never heard so far in this nightmare. The other thing that intrigued him about her was when she mentioned that she followed someone here.

"What are you looking for? Perhaps I can go with you," Frampton offered.

Arai turned her head back at him, curiosity burning once more in her eyes. She paused for a moment before holding out the end of her cloak. "Do you know where is water?" The dust and dirt from the city was muddying her beloved color even more since arriving, and she had not properly bathed in who knows how long. She felt one of her ears twitch. Clean first, then find a way home... Was the simple plan she thought of. It was one of her excuses reasons for coming to this place anyway, as it was difficult to find good water outside.

Arai kept her guard up. By his expressions and words he seemed like he wanted to help her... But Arai was already fooled by these actions merely hours ago...She hoped she would not become to attached- Even though it was merely second nature for her.

"Water?" he asked, as if the request was foreign to him. Still, he didn't want to lose track of this girl, and if finding water was the only way to stay beside her, he would do so. A girl so...fragile should not have been left alone.

"I can help you find water. We're safe in the city after all..." He let the thought linger for a moment. "...I'm just not sure how clean it is. It might be infected by what has been happening here."

It was going to be another one of those restless nights again. She could feel it. It wasn't like she wasn't used to it by now. Staying up for roughly twenty-four hours a day with little sleep? Ha! That was a breeze. Others think that way too. Sure someone could stay up an entire day without sleep. What's one day going to do? Well, they end up crashing some time during the next day to catch up on the lack of sleep they had. Her? She could go four, five days without sleep and function properly. Though she does try and rest some by shutting her eyes and trying to relax. There have been moments where during that time of trying to relax is when she falls asleep. That's when the nightmares begin. The nightmares plague her mind until she forces herself to wake up, ready to strike. That isn't to say, however, that her body gives out to the exhaustion. When that happens, don't bother trying to wake her up. It's like she went into a mini-coma and won't wake up until she's fully recharged. Her recharging day was two days ago, and Bindi was now out wandering the streets of the city. The sun had just set. The light of the day was fading fast and the only light left was the lights shining through the windows of the homes and businesses she was passing. She always kept her pistol with her. Not to use as protection unless needed to, but more for the flashlight attachment that was on it. She feared both the dark and the night. Both were seemingly two of the same things, but to her they were different.

Bindi heard guns being popped off from the top of the wall that surrounded the Metro. It was one of the cities defenses to keep the dead out and the living inside and safe. Some what safe anyways. These were all part of normal life now. No one panicked hearing the gunfire. That was until the alarms started going off. The alarms going off certainly wasn't a good sign. The warning lights that were spread throughout the city were starting to flash too. Another sure sign that there was trouble. There was a possible breach on the wall. Any and all people who haven't taken a turn defending the wall needed to join up on top to help. Ironically enough she hadn't taken patrol on the wall for a week now, and she was headed in that direction. With her gun loaded and ready, she takes off. Families scrambled together into their homes, picking up their children and holding them tightly to their person as they ran. Everyone had every right to be afraid. A complete breach hasn't happened as of yet, but the fear of one happening was always there. Hidden away in the back of everyone's mind. In the midst of the scramble, a young child had been left behind by his father. She looked to be the age of either five or six years old. The girl stood there crying as people ran right past her.
"Daddy! Daddy!" The girl cries, but alas no one comes to claim her. Bindi stopped in mid run after hearing the girls voice. She needed to be safe inside. Even if it was with different people. Those on the wall could handle themselves without her. She'd take her turn patrolling later. The woman turns back and scoops the girl up into her arms and ducks into one of the bars. She was the last person to be let inside as the doors and windows were locked up shut. Everyone waits with baited breath, listening as the alarm kept sounding and the sounds of gunshots echoing right after.

The young girl cried into Bindi's shoulder. Crying out for her daddy.
"Hush now little one. We'll find your daddy once the alarm stops, okay?" She didn't know how to calm a child who was crying out for her parents. Except to just hold her and pat her back, telling her that it was okay. Her brown eyes glance around the room, seeing the worried and concerned faces of those hiding inside the establishment. She hoped that this little girls family was inside here, but she doubted they were. It wasn't long till the alarms finally stopped and the all clear was given. Doors and windows were unlocked and mostly everyone begins to leave. Bindi leaves as well, keeping a hold of the child and looking around the outside. So far there seemed to be no sign of the girls family. No one was calling out any names. People seemed to just walk past to go back to their normal routine. "I want my daddy." the girl sniffs. Her tiny arms were wrapped around her neck as the two looked amongst the crowd. "We'll find him. Don't worry." Bindi gives the small girl a smile in hopes to lift her spirits. She didn't know who most people were in the Metro. She had only been living there for almost a year and she still didn't know many people. Her keeping her distance didn't help that knowledge either. If there was anyone who has lived in the Metro for a while now and knew the families taking shelter here, she would greatly appreciate them coming up and helping her find this child's father.

As sanity leaves my consciousness........

Minutes after the alarm had sounded, it would fall silent. That would mean either one of two things: a false alarm or the threat had been stopped. Either way, a relief could be felt throughout the large city. Even as darkness started to take over, they at least knew that the streets would be safe once again thanks to the soldiers and the effort of their leader. Things would soon start to go to normal, people gathering both their things and composure. Of course, there would be one man running about, yelling out for his daughter. He sounded frantic, unsure of where she could have ran off to. His voice would make any one's heart drop to their stomach in pity and sadness for his loss. At least for now anyways.

Meanwhile, while everyone started to get things back together again, a new face would appear. From out of the alleyway, a dark haired man would round the corner. He was dressed in fine clothing as if he were ready for a special occasion. For the most part anyways, rips and tears somewhat seen throughout his outfit. His scarlet eyes scanned the area as he started walking down the streets casually. He took in the sites and the people, starting to feel a familiar feeling that he hasn't felt in a very long time: security. He had finally found a place where he could relax, he being among the undead for almost a year now. He carried nothing with him, not even a weapon.

But of course, the strangest thing was that he appeared out of nowhere right after the alarm went off. Where did he come from? Why was he here? Was he the reason that everyone went into a panic? He didn't look dangerous at least. With his hands in his pockets and a faded smile across his face, he actually looked fairly friendly instead........

...... Madness is there to comfort my thoughts.

"That is...okay. It should be...better.. than the rivers outside." Which were all she'd ever known. Arai usually depended on rain for her somewhat cleaner water. She paused for a moment. "Do you live in this ss-city?" Pronouncing the word again felt odd on her lips. She paused again registering the word safe That is exactly what the other man had told her, before those other men tried to grab her and frightened her away. Arai froze and stared forward. Maybe that is why he abandoned her, because she ran away from him first. The girl shook her head. It was took late for regrets now. She pulled her hood down further over her face.

"I will not run away."
She muttered out loud, more for herself that the man next to her.

"Yes, I live in the city." With my wife. "We can go to my apartment, or we can go to the General Store. Both places will have clean water you are looking for."

Frampton smiled at her but it was kind of forced, because of the memory of his dead wife still haunted him. He left her behind to save himself...but had he been there to help free her, he would have been eaten alive as well. The guilt penetrated his very soul, and he no longer knew what was right or what was evil. Still he smiled, pretending that the memory of his wife's face being torn apart did not bother him. Not at all.

Arai stared up the the smiling man. Something seemed off about his expression. She tilted her head, under her hood her ears twitched and folded backwards. "Ap-Apar-..." She tried to repeat the words he said. Both the other man had said to her. When she couldn't pronounce the first one she shook her head and tried the second. "St- Store?" Arai paused. She stored all kinds of things in both her bag and in her temporary shelters. It made sense that a place called 'Store' would probably do the same.. "Can you show me where the store is?" She blinked and then added, "Please?"

She would follow another stranger, this time more warily. She would find the water, and then leave. That was the plan, right? Of course, the oddness in his smile and his nearly trembling words made her curious. A small voice in her head made a 'tsk' sound. Would she ever learn?

She takes a few steps away from the bar, craning her neck to look over the crowd of people in front of her. There were no shouts that she could hear. No panicked looks amongst those who she could see. Maybe this girls family was deeper in the city. That's why she couldn't hear anyone calling. She would have heard at least something echoing off of the buildings though, right? The young child too was looking around. "Can I sit on your shoulders?" She suddenly asks. Bindi nods her head. If sitting on her shoulders would make her happy, then she'd let her. "Sure little one. Get ready." The woman puts her hands under the girls arms and lifts her up over her head and gently onto her shoulders. She holds onto the girls legs to make sure she didn't fall backwards. "Hold on tight. That way you don't fall." "Hehe. Okay!" At least she wasn't crying anymore. That was a good thing. Bindi had been steadily moving along the street, moving away from the bar where she had taken shelter in.

As she walked, she took notice of something off in the distance. There was a man who was coming from an alleyway. He wore what looked like fancy clothing, but had been worn a lot. The color in the clothes he wore were faded, and yet they still looked good. His dark hair partially covered one side of his face. He wore a gentle smile as he came closer towards them. He was friendly looking, and someone who could potentially help aide her in her search of the girls family. With a sigh of relief, Bindi makes her way towards him. As she gets closer, she notices the color of his eyes. They weren't a normal eye color a person would have. They were red. It was definitely strange to see, but that wasn't her concern. This young girl was her main priority for the time being.
"Hi there. I don't mean to bother you, but you look like someone who can help me. When the alarms went off, I found this little girl all alone on my way to assist on the wall. Her parents were no where in sight, so I took her with me so she wouldn't get either trampled over or even more lost. Would you happen to know who she is or her parents?"

Frampton nodded. "Of course," he agreed. He turned and pointed down the street. "It's down that way. We'll follow the path and be there in no time."

Heigh-ho, let's go!

Frampton dug into his pockets, feeling for something he hoped was there...and thank God it was. He felt the edges, the creases, and fought back the tears that wanted to spill all over his shoes. It was all right for now; it was safe in his pocket.

"Okay. Let's go."

As sanity leaves my consciousness........

The young man would come to a halt when he noticed a girl start to approach him. Seeing a child on her shoulders only confused him a little. However, it would suddenly click in his mind, he recalling what happens during a siren warning. Pure chaos if he recalled correctly. His thoughts were confirmed when the young lady asked him for assistance. His friendly smile stayed across his face as he answered, his crimson eyes going up to the little one. "Oh, well that IS quite the problem, isn't it? I'm sorry, but I suppose we haven't met so I don't know what your parents may look like. However, there was a man yelling out for someone. What is your name, hon?" His attention stayed on the scared, little girl as he waited for an answer. He was familiar with this feeling, he going through it before as a child. He figured a kind touch to the delicate situation could help keep her in a good mood.

She wasn't sure if the man was going to stop and try to help her, but was glad to see that he had. The man was definitely a new face in her eyes. She hadn't seen him before in the past eight months of living here. Was he new to the city? She was curious about him, but was distracted by what he tells them. Relief washes over her face. There was someone looking for this child. "Thank goodness." She says softly. The little girl, who had been looking around as Bindi walked, didn't notice the strange man in front of them. Her mind was on looking for her parents. That was until he started talking to her. Her green eyes looked into his red ones and she seemed to be a little hesitant in talking to him. Sure her internal alarms of "stranger danger" didn't go off when Bindi had picked her up, but it was now with him. Bindi picks up on the hesitation and pats her leg, encouraging her to talk to him. "It's okay. He's going to help us find your daddy. Tell him your name." The child hesitated still, bringing her hand up to her mouth before finally answering him. "My name is Zoey. You heard my daddy?"

"A lovely name for a lovely little girl," he replied in a kind tone. He could obviously see her nervous behavior so he simply tried to stay friendly. "And yes, actually. That man was yelling the same name a moment ago. I'm sure he must be your dad." His glowing eyes would go down to the young lady now. His warm composition was still there as he addressed her. "I heard him while on the other side of this building. He was heading up the street looking for her. I'm sure we will bump into him if we head that way." He seemed more than willing to lead them around until the father was found and they were reunited. He didn't have any particular chore on his plate at the moment so he could easily spare the time.
