"Um...Um...." Aeris stuttered as Han rolled his eyes at her in her mind. She blinked her large purple eyes at the red head and tilted her head with a confused aura, wondering where her boundless energy came from. She asked question after question, seeming to forget the last unanswered one as soon as she flung a new one on the startled ghosts. Aeris never asked anybody anything unless she'd thought it out in extreme detail beforehand, and once she asked, she always waited until an answer was recieved.

But this girl didn't seem to abide by Aeris's rules of conversation.

"I bought my clothes in Celedon City." She said at last, marvelling with an air of pride at the levelness of her satin voice.

A faint blush graced her cheeks upon hearing the girl's words. She couldn't help it, somehow the way she spoke had made her blush. It was the first time she had spoken clearly without stuttering, besides when she had yelled at Karen for almost attacking her Pokemon. Her voice fit her so well. It was graceful, silky. Beautiful, as she was.

Karen gave the girl a big smile. "Even your voice is so pretty. I'll definitely have to go to that place... Celedon, yeah? I don't think I've ever been there. It's not cold there, is it? I don't like the cold too much. Oh, I forgot! I wanted to ask you your name!"

Oh my, my dear Aeris. What powers of oratry you have. Making the little one blush so eaily...

Shush, Han. Don't be cruel. People blush over many things, it could have been anything.

"Celedon is a city of flowers. Or it was when I left it for the last time. Therefore it cannot be cold." Aeris didn't tell the woman her name; in the back of her mind she wanted to know the other's name before offering hers.

Her face lit up upon hearing this new fact. "A city of flowers? That sounds so pretty! I must must must go there some day! I love flowers, especially chrysanthemums. They're so beautiful, one day I'd like to hav- Hey, you avoided my question! I guess you don't want to tell me your name yet, do you? That's alright then, but in case you're curious, my name's Karen Lynch. It's nice to meet you!" she informed her happily with a smile and a wink.

Cosette nudged Karen gently, earning a giggle from the girl and a soft pat on the head. "This one's name is Cosette. She's been my best buddy for a really long time now. We travel everywhere together, and I haven't even gotten sick of her yet!" This got Karen a rough bump in the side from Cosette's muzzle. The girl jumped a little and giggled again at her Pokemon friend, nuzzling the Ponyta's cheek affectionately.

"Aeris." She pointed at herself in slow motion before moving her finger to poise elegantly in Han's direction. "Haunter." The dawning night gave the pastey girl an almost luminescant aura that usually made people stop and stare at her. It wasn't bright enough to draw too much attention, just strong enough to merit a glance her way.

The nighttime fed her energy that created this glow, but that was only to be expected. She was, after all, a ghost.

"Pleasure to meet you."

As the girl, now known to her as Aeris, made her introductions, Karen couldn't help but stare in awe again. Her silky voice, her graceful movements, her haunting beauty, her soft glow as the moonlight carressed her pale skin. She took it all in. Aeris was simply wonderful. Karen wanted to know this girl. She wanted to know about her, anything that she would be willing to share.

"It's getting dark, so Cosette and I were going back to our hotel at Verdanturf. If you're heading in that direction, we'd be happy to have you come along! Unless you're going somewhere else, where are you going, anyway?"

Aeris stared at the girl for a moment before casting her eyes downward toward the ground.

"I must not...I'm terribly sorry." She would have accompanied her, had she been a living person. But as she was not, the complications of coming home with this Karen were far to lenthy. Ghosts needed no sleep, no food...she could only imagine the limitless amounts of questions this child would fling at her.

Shall we go?

Yes...

Aeris vanished into the nighttime sky back to the rock they had sat on a few hours ago, wondering and hoping if she would see the Karen Lynch Redhead again in the morrow.

"Ah, wait! She disappeared again... I wonder where she went. Hm..." Karen stared down at the ground at her feet. She was uncharacteristically silent for a minute as she stared and thought about her encounter with Aeris.

Cosette watched her trainer's unnatural silence for a few moments before approaching her and rubbing her muzzle against her arm in concern. Karen seemed to snap out of her daze within a second of the contact, smiling cheerfully at her friend. "Let's go! Tomorrow's another big training day for us, isn't that right, Cosette?"

The Ponyta nuzzled Karen, recieving a pat on the head in reply. Forgetting about her big shopping spree before retiring to her room, Karen led the way down the path to return to their hotel.

Karen yawned and rubbed sleepily at her eyes as she slowly sat up from the soft and comfortable bed. She glanced around the room, catching the stare of her Ponyta from across the room. "Good morning Cosette..." she muttered with another yawn. It had taken a bit of convincing and some bribery to let the hotel owner allow Cosette to stay in Karen's room while not in a Pokeball. The irritating man kept on saying something about not wanting the Ponyta to track mud all over the room, or having her shed everywhere, or what if she had lice, or blah blah blah, but he had eventually come around with Karen's "kind donation" to "the hotel".

She rolled out of her bed and tugged some clothes on when the happenings of the previous night re-entered her head. Karen wondered if she'd ever meet up with the girl again. Maybe while training again today- wait a second, yesterday's motivation for training had been completely forgotten after she had met Aeris. "Oh nooo! I can't believe I totally forgot about that shopping trip I was gonna make if I got a lot of training done! Well, today for sure! I'll get done early and have a major shopping spree! Too bad the sale ended for that one store yesterday... oh well, come on, Cosette! We're taking off again."

Karen charged out of her room, out the hotel door, and was soon on the trail leading to Rustboro once again, with Cosette only a few steps behind her.

The sun warming her face awoke Aeris from her trancelike state upon the rock. It was morning, already.

What pokemon should we catch? It cannot be strong, as I can only manage the weakest of attacks.

Let us journey, I'm sure we'll find someone who will come with us.
Aeris pulled out her one grimey pokeball from her pocket and stared at it. She'd found it on the ground a year or so ago, and had decided to keep in case she ever decided to catch a pokemon. Now was the time, she supposed.

She floated off the rock in slow motion and set out onto the road, silently remembering the girl she had met the day before. Without thinking she slowed her pace, hoping the girl would hurry and catch up to her. Loud and aggravating as she had been, it was nice to have other company besides her and Han.

"Alright, Cosette, today I think we should try that cave to Rustboro! Rusturf Cave, or I think that's what the sign said. We'll probably find something worthy of catching there too! Let's hurry so we can get back to Verdanturf quicker this time!" Karen took off at a run, watching her Ponyta chase after her. She giggled as she raced with her Pokemon, watching Cosette as she quickly began to catch up to her. Distracted with observing her friend behind her, Karen did not notice the lovely, pale figure she was approaching until she crashed into her and tumbled to the ground.

Lyn woke up. Tiger had been scratching at her door, wanting to get out to use the bathroom. Her parents wanted her to keep Tiger outside in his Growlithe House, but she wouldn't have it. She had made up her mind. She was going to do it. She was going to gather all her money, her items and some clothing and head out on her own pokemon adventure. She couldn't let the egg hatch in such a confined situation. Pokemon had to be free! It was still early but her parents got up early to open up the local Cinnabar Cinnabun. She got her back pack, stuffed it with some clothing, her wallet, a potion and her Cinnabar Cinnabun pass to get free food. She'd have to be careful though, her parents could use it to track her. She put on her trustee black hat and scribbled a note to her parents. She opened the door, let Tiger out off his leash and headed out. Her note reads:
Dear Mother and Father,
I know you want me to stay around since we haven't heard from sister in a long time. But I can't take it any more! I'm going on a pokemon adventure! I'll send you letters. Maybe I'll become something famous! Love you! Please don't worry too much.
Love, Lyn

Aeris thought nothing onf the padding footsteps behind her or the giggles fast approaching. That is, before the world turned upside down. With a stomach turning smack she hit the ground face first, black hair spilling out around her in a mighty black flood.

She heard Haunter hiss in anger, but she was too stunned by the fall to say or do anything beyond registering that there was something heavy on her back.

"Owowow..." Karen rubbed her head as she sat up slowly on top of- wait, what was she sitting on? She opened her eyes to look down and find a person directly underneath her. "Omigod, I'm so so so so sorry!!" she cried, not even bothering to get off the person first. Just then it occured to her that the person she was sitting on was a girl... a girl with very long, dark hair... just like... "O-Oh, is that you, Aeris?" Karen exclaimed happily.

Meanwhile...

Umbreon had been running around they nation. She jumped nimbly from the treetops, barely touching them as she practically flew through the trees. She was in the mountains by Verdanturf. Stopping on a cliff, she rested. She didn't like moving about in the day, it was dangerous. She wouldn't be doing that usually, but she was desperate. They rest of her pokemon companions depend on her. She looked down and say two girls, a Ponyta and a Haunter. She watched them, sensed the bonds between them. Two tears roled down her silky black cheek. She dashed down the mountain and rushed by the two girls like a strong wind.
