"Well, after the anniversary vacation with Sol," she explained, glancing to the stairs and wondering why he hadn't joined them yet, "I, erm...kind of got invited to the Jacobs family reunion..."
"Kind of weird finding out you have more relatives, huh?" Tyler asked before clearing his throat. When was the last time he got himself something to drink...?

"No kiddin'? Was it fun?" he asked, pouring a pair of glasses of water and passing one to Azana, one to Tyler with a grin. "The Jacobs' strike me as a friendly batch."

"Incredibly," she replied, accepting the drink with gratitude. "Everyone had heard about me...so there were a lot of introductions. I still don't have all their names straight, aside from my parents-in-law." She took a long sip, shaking her head. "I've got plenty of time to learn, though."
"Good for you," Tyler said simply, almost downing the glass in one fell swoop.
A sandy-haired young man appeared with a loud pop, looking around before letting out a whoop of victory. "Finally! Calibrated again!" He blinked at Tyler's expression, though Azana seemed to be looking more at the odd apparatus he carried with him.

"Sounds like his family is kinda like mine..." he chuckled, glancing up at James' arrival, pouring a third glass of water and refilling Tyler's. "And welcome to you too...what have you there?"

"Huh?" James glanced to the staff-like item in his clutches. "Oh, yeah! That's why I wanted to test my calibration here!" He held it out with a beam of pride.
"Az, I want you to take this on a test drive!"
Azana blinked in surprise...she thought he made some sort of staff, but she was supposed to ride it? "...what, like a broom...?"
"Exactly! I've been absolutely enamored with magical flight recently, and if my theories are correct, this should fly even more efficiently than the real thing!"
"Should fly?" Azana emphasized that word...one that promised nothing good.
"Well, I've been fine-tuning it so that it should work using lower levels of energy...but I want someone who can actually ride to try it first. Besides! There's plenty of medical care here if you crash!"
"And this is your best friend?" Tyler asked with a smirk. "That explains so much..."

Aravilui glanced up and watched them leave, then chuckled at the two chibis. "Watch it close enough and it might wink at you," he teased.

Raia started knocking on the door. "Hello, is anyone in here? If so, can you open the door? Us demons can't exactly barge in; it's against racial code, y'know."
Shalmii laughed. "But I'm human, so I can!" She opened the door, took a step inside, then invited the other two girls in.
The two walked in, then Ayase vanished her knight's armor and sword, revealing a simple school uniform. "We're sure to lose that advantage once you become a demon, as our entire party is magical aside from you. Maybe we should recruit new members to our little group?"
"Anyway, I'm tired. Didn't you have a room here or something?", Raia yawned, then the two demons turned into rabbits, Raia with a purple crystal, and Ayase with a blue crystal. The rabbits fell asleep as Shalmii set them on her shoulders. Shalmii transformed her maul into a card with a word, then crept up the stairs to the unoccupied room she had used when she had first gone to the inn.

Gren watched the trio arrive and chat amongst themselves with a mildly confused frown. Had they forgotten all the time they'd spent there? 'For that matter, I didn't think demons needed permission to come in, but spoken like that, would I have let her in..?'

The three woke up; Ayase and Raia now no longer rabbits. Shalmii jumped up and headed downstairs... "Good morning, Gren! We just got back from a random treaty meeting between the demons and the angels..."
Raia clarified, "After the Crusades, the endangered Temple of Solomon was set aside from the world for the use of treaty between angels and demons. The most recent war had its treaty resolved, and every non-combatant angel and demon was sought and voted on the terms of the treaty. Those terms gave a limitation from one side to another. Angels can no longer enter a human without permission, and demons can no longer enter a human dwelling without a human present. Sadly, the gate only opens once a month, so we were all stuck there for a while."
