His face was blank a moment, processing the sight before splitting into a wide smile, romping over and scooping her into a hug. "I missed you! Welcome home!

Zulma resisted the urge to back up when he rushed towards her and her eyes widened as he took her in his arms.
She was unable to do or say anything. Had she missed him as well? Yes she had! But she was not sure that she loved him and that bothered her.
Whatever her thoughts were, her entire body trembled in his embrace.

Beaming, he hummed. "Oh...I guess I should be upset at a time like this..." he said playfully, trying to make a serious frown, mustering instead a rather endearing huff. "You're late!"
Pulling back, he smiled curiously, looking to her face with earnest baby blues. "You okay?"

Zulma tensed up under his arms as he spoke I guess I should be upset... yet he did not get mad. She could deal with mad. It was easy to face someone who was angry.
But those blue eyes filled with tenderness and gentleness...how was she supposed to face them?!
She felt her throat tightening.
"I'm okay." she said with a shaky voice. "How about you? How are you doing?" she said, looking away.

He blinked, curious at the look, a little concerned. "I've been okay, I suppose...there were some very sad times while you were gone...and I didn't know where you'd gone, and so I studied a few things, but I have to ask you some things I can't find out on my own."
He kissed her forehead demurely. "But all of that can wait...you look like you need a sit-down."

Zulma looked at Adam. "Sad...?" she repeated, feeling even more like she should have told him goodbye.
His kiss was soft and refreshing and for a second she closed her eyes. Adam's scent...earthy...sunny...
She nodded and opened the door to her bedroom.
"Come in." she said gently.
She put her scarf and bag on the chair, then closed the door.
The innkeeper disappeared in the bathroom, water could be heard, then she came back with wet hair and face and a towel around her neck.
"Refreshing..." she said softly.
She looked at him a moment and asked.
"So what can't you find on your own?" she was a little apprehensive.

Adam sat paitently on the bed, playing with his weskit idly as he waited. At the question, he looked up with an honest expression.
"Well...I was wondering where you went, for starters..." he asked gently. "I was lonesome, but I don't think you'd just run away for no reason...it's a mite startling when someone bolts after you make love, but I didn't think it was meant as a lesson or a one-night stand." he said reasonably. "But it does boggle the mind."

Zulma looked at Adam, ready to be hurt. And it did. She knew that it was not the man's intention, yet the words hurt. ...one night-stand...
She shook her head and sat next to him, staring at her feet...
"I went to the Inn's Council." She said simply. "Although I am the main owner, with Gren and MacPere, the Inn still has a unique status... Sometimes I have to go to ensure that nobody will try to close the place..."
She pinched her lips. She was just trying to stroll...
"You...are not a one-night stand." She was looking for her words.
"I don't want to hurt you." she said at last.

"Ah...see, that's why I asked. I had no idea." he smiled tenderly, nodding. "And no...I'm not hurt. i was just confused...Trying to figure out the dynamic of our relationship, I suppose." he replied in his butterscotch voice, geniuinely satisfied with the answer. "I didn't mean to make you so worried."

Zulma had a soft sigh. This man was adorable. She never knew what to expect of him.
"You are too sweet Adam." she spoke softly.
"I should have told you before going. At least I should have said goodbye." But she hated goodbyes. She preferred the idea of coming back then leaving.
"What else could you not guess on your own?" she added.

He blushed, looking bashful. "Erm, well...we slept together and all, and that was lovely...but does that make us an item?" he asked, curious and earnest. "Or what? I care for you a lot, but it's a rather young thing to be a serious realtionship, feels like. Not that I'd take this lightly, I mean, just...oh, well, you know!" he said, getting a bit shy.

Zulma raised her eyes to look at him.
Gosh...how can I resist him...?! she wondered in front of his pink cheeks and big blue eyes.
"Our relationship is still young..." she started. "In fact it's at the point where if you wanted it not to be a relationship, you'd just have to say it."
She looked at him with a little more insistence.
"Do you want to be in a relationship with me?" she asked half serious, half teasing.

Zulma looked at him. He was so cute and charming, too adorable for words.
Her fingers brushed softly his hair.
"What if I leave again and don't tell you?"
Her eyes did not look away as she asked and she was very serious, yet there was a hint of sadness in her golden irises.
