Adam smiled, nodding. "I figured that was the case, in some ways...but I haven't been through much, so I haven't much to carry, but plenty to learn. The thing is, I understand all the stuff outside of these walls, but I've never seen magic before I got here, or chibis, or hover gliders. It's all terribly interesting."
He looked up and over to Violet. "I'm wondering, for example, what that weight of age is on Violet...and why it's a sad one. I've seen happy eyes in far older folks who hold their own experiences, so it's confusing to see sorrow in young eyes. ...Well, maybe not, but you know what I mean."

"I know, right?!" Max cheered as Adam mentioned all the cool weird stuff that happened around the Inn, and gave him a couple cool points for mentioning her glider. As the discussion turned to the artist at the table, she frowned slightly.
"Hey, Vi." She called, not getting a response. "Vi~...Yo, VIOLET!"
Her gaze snapped up, pencils screeching to a halt. "Y-yes?" She asked, startled by the harsh call.
"Can I show Adam your cool sketches upstairs?" She asked, pointing a thumb at the gentleman.
"O-oh....yeah, sure..." She said quietly, lowering her head back to her work and trying to get back into that place. Beautiful view, blissful Orrin...she had to focus...
"C'mon," she said surprisingly softly. "I can show ya...who knows? Maybe Sol'll be up there ta fill in some captions..."

"I'd love to see them!" he smiled, always having admired Violet's skills. "Thank you, Violet, and lead the way, Max!"
Charlotte watched the exchange with a small grin. "He's a very young soul...a brand-new one. I can't wait to see where it goes."

Max led the way to Violet's room, opening the door and blinking at the shelves full of sketchbooks. "Wow...she's been busy. Might take a bit ta find the ones I'm lookin' for."

"After a few cycles, perhaps," Orrin answered her. "His is a spirit that was built to last."
"Lots and lots of bad stuff," Max answered. "It might help ta look for the oldest ones, too...she started these pretty soon after--" She froze, seeing a few books pull from the shelves on their own.
"Storytime, I assume?" Sosol asked from the doorway, a broom sweeping the floor behind him on its own.
"I totally have permission!" Max defended herself quickly.

Adam nodded. "We do have permission, Sosol. Violet said we could." he said earnestly. "I was asking why she seemed so sad sometimes."
Charlotte grinned over the pillow she'd taken into a hug. "He's all right...and you're right about that; the boy's got endurance, when push comes to shove...he's a lucky fella."

"She has seen cruelty beyond measure," Sosol answered sadly, shutting the door behind him and letting the broom lean against the wall. "Many of the drawings in these first few sketchbooks aren't imagination...they're memory."
Max opened one of them, handing it over to Adam silently.
"I wish I could be that pillow," Orrin chuckled.

"She was never a part of their clan," Sosol said bitterly, rightfully still miffed about the whole ordeal. "To them...she was just a tool."
"Well, Remy's got this cool bracer thingy that lets 'im turn on and off his vampiric abilities...so, ya know, he doesn't accidentally hurt me at night. Turns out, activating the moonstone at night does some sort a feedback loop." Max tried to explain. "So, he got all supercharged."
"He also wore himself out so much he almost bit my wife," Sosol added. He neglected to mention Azana's own invocation, but then again, it wasn't something she wanted as public knowledge.
