Zulma managed a little smile for Tyler, a smile which froze when Adam stepped him.
The woman swallowed hard and was unable to say anything to him, instead she drank some of her cider.

Adam pouted. "...Oh. Should I go? It feels awkward now."

"No worries...you didn't bring up anything that wasn't already there," Tyler said, pouring a third glass. "Your choice whether to stay." He glanced down at the gloves sticking out of his pocket...life was crazy, sometimes.

Zulma sighed. "Do you want to go?" she asked as softly as she could. "Sorry but it will take time..." she added as an apology.
"Plus Tyler is right..." she drank her cider.

Adam fidgeted, looking to the cider glass. "Well...I do like cider..." he said hesitantly. "But I can keep away until I have an arm back, if you prefer it..."
Gren sighed, giving Adam a sympathetic look. 'You work awfully hard to please...' he thought.

Zulma was feeling her anger growing because each word of Adam was kind and focused towards her instead of himself. He made her feel even more stupid and selfish.
"Adam..." she started and then turned to Tyler and Gren. "If you'll excuse us gentlemen...we need to have a little tete a tete..."
With that she took Adam's healthy arm and led him upstairs to her room.
Jeff looked at Adam and Zulma with a smirk as they passed.

Tyler nodded, letting her go off with Adam. "Can't really complain at how that turned out..."

"Wh-whoa!" he said, trying not to spill his cider as he was tugged. "O-okay...whoa!"
Gren shook his head. "Poor them, really...that was rough."

Tyler nodded, sighing a little. "This is why I really need to rebuild my spare...anyway, a good half of the kitchen is done. The wiring really isn't all that bad, but I want to get it in before you-know-when."

"Spare what?" he asked, sipping a cider. "And thank you...it wasn't too hard, I trust?"

"I used to have two personal catapsi generators," Tyler reminded him. "Always useful, a back-up. As far as the wiring goes, it's easy...but there's going to be a lot of it."

Zulma entered her bedroom and sat Adam on the bed, gently enough for his cider to remain in the glass.
"Alright...you gonna have to bear with me..." she started, pacing across the room. "Adam, I am pissed that you got hurt. That does not mean you have to hide it. I am angry at you for going with them. You are not made for the battle fied. I am angry at Gren for not preventing you from joining the others... I am angry at the GMO. They have made the Inn their HQ and yet they keep putting me aside, they never tell me things until it is too late...until someone is hurt.... I am angry at them for bringing you with them...and yes I know you are a grown up man...still...I am also annoyed at myself...because I wasn't there...because I am never there..."
She took a deep breath.
"I've lost a lot...and people here...especially you...is all I have left...I...I...I need to feel that I am not going to lose you as well...you see..."
She was still moving back and forth in the room, trying to say the words...trying to calm herself.
Jeff headed for the kitchen. "You okay in there?" he asked casually.

"Oh yeah..." he nodded, grinning slightly. "Oh, that's true...but I'd be willing to pay for the labor costs. And since my apartment's a newer addition; I doubt it'll need the work.
He looked to Jeff and half-nodded. "Maybe."
Adam listened carefully, sipping his drink. He set down his cup and looked at Zulma squarely. "Well, that's good...it was a stupid move of me." he said evenly. "But being mad at them won't solve this...if you want the GMO to ask you about things, tell them so. You're often out on important adventures, so they ask Gren, who only does what he think you'd allow. They all work hard to try and make you happy, and keep the Inn safe."
He sipped his cider again. "Everyone does a lot for you because it's all they can do for their gratitude, myself included...and if you think I'm going to do something as stupid as die, that's just not so."

Zulma had stopped in her steps when Adam had started speaking. So she was selfish, mean, rude...and now she could add ungrateful. She closed her eyes. She would not tell him that he was wrong, that even when she was at the Inn, the GMO only spoke to her of casual things, never of what was truly in their mind.
At least, Adam had stood up for himself, she managed a smile through her sadness.
"I see..." she said simply as she reopened her eyes. She walked to the window and started at the night sky. If only they had killed her back then, she would not be suffering so much and more...she would not be hurting those she cared for.
Jeff gave a sorry grin to Gren. "Anything I can do to help?" he asked tentatively.

Gren shook his head. "Until she sorts herself out, I'm not sure there's anything we can do...but thanks for asking."
With what little knowledge he had of the inner workings, Adam couldn't have known much of what was bothering Zulma. He sighed deeply, sipping his cider for lack of anything to do. "...I'm sorry if I misspoke."
