"Kitty kitty, come on kitty."
"Go get chocolate milk Lili," said the dragon, relaxing slightly seeing that they would let the child in. She had to wonder though what on earth had happened to create such an aggressive response to a small child like Lili.
Lili perked upa nd walked inside, almost completly forgetting the dragon and walked over to Gren, "chocolate milk?" she asked looking up at him through her dark eyes.

Jeff yawned and sat. Some new faces again. He sighed and took his dirty empty glass to the bar.

"Tea?" she asked taking the cup and looking at the amber liquid inside. She sniffed it and giggled, "smells like hay and honey!"
Lili smiled at the question then looked at her fingers helding the cup. She mouthed the numbers as she counted her fingers then smiled up at Gren and held out her hand, all five fingers outstretched, "this many."
"Use your numbers Lili," encouraged the dragon and Lili counted her fingers again, turning her palm to face her then turned it back to Gren, "five," she said proudly.
"Thank you," the dragon said and turned on her side to relax on the grass with a relieved sigh. It was getting too cold for the child to sleep outside anymore.

Tyler returned to the Inn with Violet in a flash of light, looking around to gain his bearings and finding.
"...brilliant," he muttered, seeing the small child from halfway across the room.
Violet's eyes were more taken by the dragon outside the Inn. She tensed up slightly, keeping close to those she knew.
"Let's hope her uncle's nicer than mine was," Azana joked, her voice bittersweet.

Jeff's gaze perked up when he saw the little Queen appearing.
He wiped his hands and walked to her, taking her hand and brushing the top on it with his lips.
"Good day Little Queen." he said gently, then he frowned as he noticed that she seemed tensed.
"Are you alright?" he asked softly, taking a step towards her.

"I...I'm not really sure right now," she admitted, setting down her bag from the craft store. "There's...there's a dragon outside the window..." She pointed...though that was easier to deal with than the thought of a demon in the Inn.
Should I...even worry him...?
"Oh, the dragon out there's benevolent...taking care of the half-pint you see there." Azana gestured to Gren and the child. "She's cool, Violet."
Sosol sent her a glass of root beer with a smile. "Welcome back...did you get your mask?"

Jeff smiled but did not laugh at her worry.
"Everything will be alright." he squeezed her arm gently.
When Sosol gave her a glass of root beer, Jeff had a flash of jealousy in his eyes for a split second.
Then he looked at Violet. "A mask?"

Gren smiled in apology to Jeff, escorting Lili upstairs with a haggard look, mentally imploring Sosol to have something too strong ready for him when he got back.

Sosol took in both messages, having a root beer ready for Jeff in short order before mixing one of his stronger concoctions for the beleaguered Innkeeper. Demons and children in the same day...when it rains, as they say.
"The vampires...the good ones...they're throwing a party," Violet explained, digging out a flyer she found while she was out. "Everyone's invited...but you have to dress up...and wear a mask..."
"And Her Highness is making her own," Tyler chuckled, amused that the whole 'queen' motif was sticking around...
If we're not careful, we'll spoil her rotten...though it'll take a while.

Jeff did not want a root beer, yet he took it with a nod as a thank for Sosol. He wanted to be the one taking care of Violet. As if the costumed evening had turned the young woman into his Queen and he was back to being a protector.
A ball? Another one. A masked ball?
"Are...are you going to wear your dress again?" he asked with a hint of hope in his voice. In that case, he could not be dressed as a joker.
Zulma arrived at the Inn with wide eyes.
"We got a dragon?!" she was more excited than afraid.
"This Inn will always surprise me! Hey Sosol, Ty, Jeff, Violet..." she was smiling.

"A dragon with some five-year-old baggage," Azana piped up as she emerged from the kitchen with a snack. "Gren's--right there and explaining it better than I could..."
"Something about a prophecy and watching over the child...she's not going to be ditched on the doorstep," Sosol reassured her. "Welcome back...as requested, Gren." He set a glass on the counter.
"We have a dragon," Tyler echoed, not at all surprised. "Nice to see you again, Zulma..."
"I...I can, I guess..." Violet smiled shyly. "You...liked it that much...?"

Zulma's smile was a little tarnished.
"A five year old? Prophecy? The siren is possessed?!" she sighed.
"Oh my..."
She patted Gren as he passed by her then smiled at Tyler. "Nice seeing you too."
"Always busy here. Can I get some quick explanation?" she asked to the group.
Jeff straightened up a little.
"You looked very...beautiful in it. But if you'd rather wear something else..." the young man hesitated a moment.
"Would you mind if my costume matched yours?" he asked a little bluntly, not really at ease with his request.
