"U-uh...sure..." Violet blushed, glancing away. "I mean...I'd feel...a little odd otherwise." There it was...that word again. Someone was possessed...her hand drifted to her wrist, feeling the comfort of the copper bracelet.

"I seemed to have missed something, too. The dragon and the kid, yeah, but what's this about Xei?" Tyler asked, pulling up a chair.
"So, this is second-hand knowledge, for me, but apparently Xei bonded with a demon calling itself Lyr. It gets a vessel, and she can eat something other than essence," Azana explained. "Gren doesn't like it, and I can't say I blame him. Relations with demons never stay at symbiosis."

Zulma had a deep sigh.
"Well I guess I might have to start training again!!" yet she was still smiling.
"We need to keep an eye on Xei, that's for sure."
Jeff heard the grown up discussion and he sort of wanted to be part of it, but when Violet's cheeks took a pinker tone, he couldn't help but look at her. She was so pretty..even without the dress he realized.
He had to behave like a man and he stood straight, smiling at her.
"I will be my honor." he said earnestly. He was already thinking how he should dress to match her gorgeous dress. He would need to go for black with some purple highlight that way the eyes would be on her and he would enhance her dress.

Zulma looked at Gren with seriousness.
"I see." she was thinking.
Maybe she should do it?
"I think we should have a team of two doing it. What do you think?" maybe she could team up with Tyler?

"If you really want to take on that responsibility..." Sosol frowned. "I would volunteer myself, but Az and I are on call with the masquerade in case of any emergency. I know the Von Helson vampires are working security, but it's Halloween; Jack happens."
Azana nodded. "I know a couple people decently versed in demonology; I'll contact them about trying to find out what devil we're dealing with."
"Th-thanks," Violet said, somewhere between shy and terrified. Not of Jeff, of course...the way they were talking, that demon would be back. If that was the case, she wanted to be elsewhere...and the masquerade made as good excuse as any.
"A team of two doesn't sound bad to me...best to outnumber someone like that," Tyler nodded his agreement, ordering a drink for himself.

"Maybe? I'd need to talk to her about this first and get more information, but apparently I'll need some help prying a straight answer out." he grumbled. "Then we can find out who has to babysit the siren and who winds up babysitting Lili. Nothing like a kid to throw a wrench into the works here..."

"A small bribe and Max will take care of the kid," Tyler smirked. "As for questioning her...might I recommend the younger of our psychic siblings?"
"I'm just as able to do so as she is," Sosol said flatly. "I don't appreciate you drafting her for things like this."
"You act like I'm forcing something. Just to ask. I know you're able, but very unwilling to do anything intrusive. In this case, it sounds like it may be necessary."
"And dangerous, with a demon in there."
"...okay, you have a point. Any other bright ideas?"
"How about tomorrow?" Azana said at last, getting tired of the bickering. "We're all getting tired, and besides, you forget part of your audience." She pointed over to Violet as she retreated upstairs.

Jeff had looked at Violet and whispered softly.
"Don't worry, I'll protect you." he was honest as he spoke. He could see how scared she was and he knew this was not because of the ball. He offered her his arm to lead her to her room.
"Good night Little Queen." he had said with a bow then walked to his room.
Zulma had listened. She had no skill in the matter, yet she wanted to help.
"I would rather not take care of the kid." she had informed the group with her voice a little off. "But I don't mind helping out with the demon." she knew that many of them were better suited for the job than she was so she added.
"You all know who would be better at the task. Keep me in mind." she had dared a smile.
She too was tired and had given a small squeeze to Gren before wishing everyone good night.
Morning was there. A little too grey to the Innkeeper's taste, but at least it was not raining. She headed downstairs to prepare herself a cup of tea.

Gren was sitting at a table, looking sleeplessly weary, wriying a list of things he'd need to childproof the Inn. "Cover the sockets, secure the cabinets...whatever cruel deity decided to curse me with five year-old girls needs to realize that I've suffered enough without this..." he grumbled to himself, coffee as black as night and steaming bitter. "Good morning, Zulma."

Zulma spotted Gren who did not seem well at al. She looked at him with worried eyes and trotted to him, leaning forward she wrapped her hands around him and pressed her cheek to his, rocking gently.
"Morning Gren. Tell me what can I help with on your list." she asked softly. She hated seeing him so down.

"Mmm...tell me again why I have to put on the friendly public face when life decides to land one across my jaw?" he smiled slightly. "Or at least give me a hint what the difference between Innkeeper and doormat is. I know I'm suppose to be inclusive and welcoming, but I can't please everyone and hope for harmony. And a kid! This is no place for an abandoned little kid!"

Zulma stroke Gren's hair gently.
"You know what? You are NOT a babysitter!" she said with a very serious voice. "This is not your job!"
She stepped back.
"I will hire one. She will take care of that little booger and you won't have to worry about it."
She trotted across the room and took the phone.
