Kai saw the frown on the girls face "Ah." He said with simple understanding. "Perhaps not the best subject t brooch when looking for 'light conversation. I have forgotten where I am and that the peace of the place often stops at the threshold of the entrance. Now, then. Let us avoid a repeat of this by letting you judge the topic that is better suited to our desired conversation."

"I-it's okay," Violet answered him. "As long as the story remains with the Inn, it's a happy one..."
She flipped to one of her first drawings within Inn walls, and Kai would recognize one of the figures - the bartender in shades, illustrated with wings of alabaster, alongside a slightly less familiar brunette, similarly enhanced with tawny wings of her own.
"These are the two who brought me here...I was--" She paused, wondering how exactly to put this without going into the less pleasant details. "I wasn't feeling well..."
Tyler vaguely remembered Kai from the masquerade, offering a nod of greeting as he enjoyed a drink at the bar.

Kai was vaguely aware of the nod and responded with a wave, his gaze never wavering from his attention on Violet.
"Was this during the SIN vs BOO conflict?" He asked for clarification.

"No," Violet shook her head. "It was a few months ago, actually...I guess I missed that..." She flipped a few more pages, now displaying Gren and his husband, MacPere. "These two...they made me feel welcome here...and they helped me put my room together."

"Well, I've met Gren." Kai announced. He left out the part about wanting to kill Gren because he was a werewolf at the time.
"I am sure he was a great help in setting up your room. He seems.....nice." Having known the man, as a man, for all of 10 minutes, Kai was hard-pressed to come up with anything more meaningful.

"A-anyway...some of the others...like Remy, and Max, they helped me apply to art schools after seeing my work. I really didn't want to move...so I commute there, with a little help..."
"Gren's a good man. Just don't piss him off," Tyler chuckled, setting down his glass. "He's a cold sort of angry...the scariest kind."

"Oh really? Art school? How far is it?" The questions were sincere in their interest. While his visual art was more of a hobby than anything, Kai was, first and foremost, an academic. He was interested in education in every sense of the word.

"Gambino? Well, that is wonderful." Kai said clapping his hands together.
"You know, thats where I died!" The Grombie's tone couldnt have been happier. He loved the place.
"Johnny Gambino, rest his soul, used his money well. That has to be a fine school, because it was only the best for Ol' Gambino." Kai stated. "We can only hope that Gino of his grows a spine and takes care of it the way his pappy did."

"It sounds like...you really admire him," Violet said, glad that at least the happy end of the story brought a smile to his face.
"That has to be a lot of pressure on someone so young..." Tyler mused, thinking momentarily of other heirs and heiresses.
Thank the gods I don't have to worry about anything like that.

"Johnny? Of course. I'm a Grombie and I was infected during the first round as well. The G-virus is his legacy and it literally runs through my viens....well, almost literally." Kai's pride was obvious as he spoke of his condition. "We Grombies are a proud people, but a dying breed. But, you have to hold onto something and sometimes, Johnny's legacy is all I have. Other times...." Kai's last statement drifted off.
