Violet giggled. "Finger painting...?" She asked before taking note of his fingernails. They might as well have been quills. "Oh...I see, now..." It was strange, really...first not knowing about pancakes, and now writing with fingernails rather than pencils. What was up with this guy?
"It's beautiful," Sosol nodded. "Looks like some of the really old script in Stella's books...I read over her shoulder sometimes."

"I'm Stella," a blonde called from the door, measured steps as the doors closed behind her. "Not talking about me behind my back, I hope."
"Never...I was just saying his signature looks like some of the fancy old script in your dusty books," Sosol answered with a chuckle. "This is Malachai."
The demon, yes...I'm assuming Violet doesn't know. I'll keep it that way.
"It's always nice to meet new faces in here," she said cheerfully, looking at the drawings and the sigil. "Your mastery of Old English script is impressive."
Violet looked over at it again...it was pretty, and she couldn't help but think she had seen something like it before. Old books...the smell of the leather binding and musty paper...
She blinked a few times, shaking her head and paying attention to the conversation again.

Malachai smiled, offering a hand with a bright smile. He sniffed the air about Stella for a moment. A witch....young...good intentions... He determined that she was like a pineapple milkshake. "Hello! I'm Malachai!"
He looked quite pleased by the compliment. "Thank you! I'm proud of it! Do you read it too?"

"Sometimes it's hard not to," Stella answered, shaking his hand. "A lot of the gold standard texts were written by a bunch of dead guys, before the church got all jealous. Not my preferred language, but hey, it beats pictograms. I can read Latin and Greek, too...though if I can get a translation, I do. It's so time-consuming to tease out all the grammar."
Violet gave a bittersweet grin...she hadn't even graduated, and she felt outclassed by a lot of the people around her. Sure, she had her skill set, but it was so specialized, and really didn't seem to help much.

"Huh?" Stella blinked, stopping to think. "You know, I never really thought about it until now...I guess it's because the laser that reads it is blue..?" She shrugged, not knowing that her intuitive understanding of it was indeed spot-on. "I bet Tyler would be a better person for questions about gadgets. Either him or Max Mouse..."
"He's met Tyler already," Sosol told her, setting out a glass of white wine for his employer. "He's been lending encyclopedias."
"I...I can get him," Violet offered, standing and leaving the slightly awkward situation to fetch the genius.
"Ah." He would. Stella took a sip of her wine with a contented smile and looked to Malachai as Violet left earshot. "How long has it been since you've graced our plane?"

"Actually, your glamour is excellent," Stella gave a nod. "I was forewarned. When I heard your name, I knew...but I couldn't see through your glamour. I almost didn't believe it." She gave him a light pat on the shoulder before taking a seat.
"I was kind of curious about the mark around your wrist..."
"What about it...?" Sosol asked her. "Gren wouldn't take too well to your tampering with it, I'm guessing."
"Better the devil you know, Sosol. We don't know who made this seal, or why, or what it really does beyond limiting his magic usage," Stella replied to him. "Besides, no harm in just giving it a looksie, right?"

He rolled up his sleeve, revealing the pattern. "I think it's a binding seal...I can't use a lot of my magic anymore. Maybe a sore lover afterward? I dunno."

"...yeah, I can see that," Stella nodded, looking over the design. "I just want to make sure no one's put in a command matrix...you seem like a nice guy, but I've seen some nice people due some terrible things thanks to other people." She hummed in thought, tracing over one of the lines lightly. She recognized quite a few of these sigils...which was good, since that meant they were using a European style of magic. However, it seemed a bit rushed. Probably had to be; Malachai probably wouldn't just sit still and be sealed up.
"Hm. Just a typical arcane snare," she said at last, almost disappointed. "And here I was hoping for something interesting."
"You don't think an incubus in the Inn's main room doesn't qualify?" Tyler asked, entering the main room. "What's more amazing is that Az convinced her guardian not to barbecue him. What can I do for you guys?"
"Mal's asking about Blu-Ray," Sosol answered, setting out a can of cola.

Tyler chuckled, shaking his head. "This is going to take a bit..." He said, popping open the can and taking a sip. "Let's start with Blu-Ray. It's called that because the ray is blue, not the disc. As for Bluetooth, it's just a name. No actual blue teeth involved...it's a method of synchronizing different gizmos without a bunch of wires."
Stella opened a tiny portal, dropping a text on seals onto a nearby table. "Hm..." She sat down and opened it up, pursuing an idea she had about Mal's arcane snare.

"There's a little laser in the player," Tyler answered. "It's blue, and it reads the information on the disc so you can watch your movie or whatever."
Stella's hairstick seemed to write notes on its own as she flipped through the pages. It was a matter of re-weaving the seal without letting it break. Delicate. Difficult. She loved it.
Sosol listened to Tyler's explanations, wondering how long the interrogation would go on.
