She hadn't noticed, it seemed, so he took the opportunity to right himself and down his glass to clear his head.
"Ahh... thanks once agai-- ngh."
His eyes grimaced in pain, his fingers suddenly clenching on the glass.

Upstairs, a small hand tossed a Polaroid underneath Orrin's door, depicting a curly-haired girl in a cloche in a shop chock full of odds and ends, looking through a seeing-stone at a serene shopkeep that offered a small glowing sphere. At the bottom of the picture, there was a simple heart drawn in purple ink.

Glorious morning had come and Senpai was hot on the trail of a little mushi which could potentially take root and ruin this lovely place. Crawling on hands and knees, a silver spiraled monocle over the left eye and a long pipe clenched between pearled teeth. The smoke of the pipe was a silvered violet and Senpai was exhaling every puff onto the floor where the smoke would cling in a florescent peach color on the trail of the creature.
The problem was it was the kind which would seek out a perfect place to hang- then infect the first person it could with essence which turns them into mindless drones bent on spreading and populating others with the spore.
"There you are," Senpai grinned, taking a long draw- but the mushi flared at Senpai's face and Senpai swallowed the smoke and gagged. The mushi skittered away, "BA-" gag-cough, "KA." Senpai curled up on the floor for a moment- lungs on fire- WHY DO I USE THIS STUFF!

Lin was glidding down the stairs when she heard heavy coughing, she moved faster and blinked upon seeing Senpai on the ground. She rushed to her and kneed graceful by her. "Senpai?" she asked and her usual emotionless voice had some worry in it. "Is something the matter?" she asked, hesitating before putting a hand on the traveler's shoulder.

Senpai uncurled a bit, the touched shoulder tensing but relaxing, "Swallowed...smoke...lungs on fire..."
The smoke swirled from between Senpai's clenched teeth to a normal person it would smell like sage and dill pickles- "Can't breathe...took in too much...need moment..." to elements it may as well have been the opposing element being shoved down their throat, which is why Peru was on a windowsil watching.
Senpai gagged and sat back, a tiny line of violet falling from the corner of slightly chapped lips, "Hunting mushi...surprise...swallowed smoke..."

Lin's face did not show much when she stood up and having observed the innkeeper quickly found a glass that she filled with water. She kneed back by Senpai. Fire and water. The dark eyes woman was still in pain so she simply put the glass on the floor next to her. When she noticed the purple rolling from her mouth, she took her handkerchief and while one of her hand gently cupped Senpai's nap, she dabbed the fabric to the woman's lips. "Don't speak yet..." she said in a cool and calm voice with a hint of softness. Her silver eyes were scanning Senpai's face for signs of pain.

Senpai's maroon eye widened at the gesture- unused to people touching- but also because there was more than just what was wiped away. Senpai had to push Lin away, Senpai reached into a pocket and pulled out a small container and released a torrent of peach and silver into the container- Senpai lifted the heavily sleeved arm to hide the reaction. "Yurushite kudasai."
Peru chirped sharply and fluttered to a table.

Lin blinked as she was pushed away, she did not frown or exclaim though and simply watch until red and black fabric hid the dark hair woman from her sight. Her eyes lowered to the handkerchief which had a strange purple color. She stared at it a moment, until Peru caught her attention. The little chick was obviously worried. She was not the type to interfere when she was not needed, so Lin simply stayed where she was, ready to help if Senpai called for her. This place surely was strange.

Recovering after a few long moments, Senpai corked the solution and tucked it away- promising to release it later. Dropping the sleeve, Senpai gave a small cough and smile, "my apologies...the smoke isn't good for consumption." Senpai picked up the pipe and made sure it was extinguished, "When hunting mushi which can hide so well in plain sight...the smoke makes it eaisier to find them. Are you alright?"
Senapi's usually calm face showed concern for Lin, direct contact was hard on anyone; second hand, not as painful and sadly every reaction is different. "Did you breathe any in, Lin? If you feel oddly I would advise fresh air and jasmine tea as quickly as you can."

Gareus grimaced, punching his arm as if to punch the pain back out of it, but to no avail. He sighed as he did his best to cope with the pain, helping himself to a glass of water in the back seeing as he had no attractive gold-haired women or shades-wearing bartenders to serve him quite yet this time. He gulped.
"Ugh... This is getting annoying..."

Lin blinked several times and looked down at her handkerchief. She slowly shook her head. "I have not and I feel fine thank you."
She wondered about mushi but did not say anything.
"However I would gladly prepare some tea for both of us if you wished." she said, after all this was her profession, she was a tea ceremony master.
Zulma entered the kitchen and found herself face to face with Gareus who had a fround on his face.
"Hello there! Is everything alright?" she asked in her usual sunny voice.

He gurgled in his water, coughing a little in surprise to the sudden entrance.
"Ugh... Um, y-yeah, I'm fine."
Gareus put on as bright a smile as he could, tucking his throbbing arm under him as he bent over.
"Nice to see you again, Miss Zulma."

Zulma wrinkled her nose with a half teasing, half scolding glow in her eyes.
"Tell me the truth! Did I do something wrong?" she asked, her voice turning softer at the end of the question. She wanted to know why he seem so uneasy in her presence.

"No! My goodness, no, you've been nothing but beauti--wonderful! Wonderful to me-- aggh!"
He slapped himself in the face mentally while he looked down at his arm, then sighed and brought it up.
"I've got some bad build up in my arm-- wow, that sucks."
As he revealed his arm, there were heavy etchings of yellow runes in his arm, glowing menacingly as some runes started to flow up off his skin and replace themselves on another part of his arm.

Stella walked into the Inn, another 'attractive gold-haired woman' that Gareus had not yet met. She scanned the main room's occupants, her eyes instantly fixating on the strange magic that was being displayed on the man's arm. "Well, doesn't that look interesting~," she said, sidling over to him and taking a closer look. After a second of watching it with interest, she blinked her cerulean eyes and shook her head.
"Sorry...that was probably rude of me. Magic is something I find myself naturally attracted to. How did you wind up with those runes?"
