Erik dried himself off quickly and put his clothes back on. "Prehaps I should burn you at a stake." He said. He strecthed the water was slightly colder than he thought. "And if you haven't noticed, i'm 28." He said dignified. "Now you can forget getting a present from me come the 25th." He said in more mock anger.

"I wasn't expecting any from you unless that was the day you chose to leave," she said not looking at him, "and burning me at stake would do nothing, I can't even feel the flames," she said this absent-minded as she reached into the fireplace and put her hand in the flames which danced around her fingers but did not burn.

Erik mummered angrily under his breath. "You think your the only one hunter?" He placed his hand in too. His hand heated slightly, maybe even caught fire, but it didn't hurt. "We are no different, except you have no self-control." He put his hand in his mouth to taste the fire, it wasn't so good in his stomach. He put his hand back in the fire. "Not matter what you do, you can even kill me, but i will not get mad, your the only one here that does." He stopped for a second. "Haven't you noticed i've seen you glare at me, but all i've done was smile back?" He said mesmerized.

"I have seen you lose your temper assassin as I have lost mine, the difference between you and I is that I have an instinct to kill you whereas you just have an obligation. We are very different, in many ways, don't even try to compare us, it will get you nowhere," she withdrew her hand from the fire and sat back in her chair. She did not want to fight tonight, but a calm argument was fine for now, "except maybe back into the lake, this time tied to something heavy."

"Another death threat?" He asked. He showed her an expertly wraped present wrapped with a red tie. "That one was for you, but if you don't want it, i can show you now." He said. He'd taken pride in it. "Hand crafted, before you ask, it's not a bomb." He said.

Angeles looked at the present before looking up at Erik through narrowed eyes, "and here I was thinking you were the only one who made sense within this place, having that you hated me rather than were comfortable around me. Who in their right mind buys, or makes for that matter, gifts for someone who is trying to kill them?"

"I am comfortable looking death in the eye, heck, i'm comfortable talking with him." He shrugged. "And beside's it's a one day thing after that day, i'll go back to hating you." He said with more pride. "Let me assure you, with your tempuratment, i doubt it will last a day." He said. "Plus, there's two, so i give it two days." He said.

Angeles' eyes were still narrowed as she looked back at the gift. She was tempted to take it and throw it into the fire, but her heart wouldn't let her. She hadn't received a Christmas gift in such a long time that her heart was yearning to open it. She tried hard not to show it. She did not reach for it, only glared at the bow that held it together.

Walking into the inn, Cerberus found it there were only two other people within the inn's walls: the ninja man and the vampire woman. Once again feeling the urge to get futher away from the vampire, Joseph pushed it off to the side and sat down in one of the nearby chairs, opening his book to the page he left off on.
'I do hope Mr. Knightsoul will be alright. I wonder what's going on with him? I'd ask HQ to look into the matter, but they'd just stonewall me again.'

Erik sensed her indesision. "So either you want it or not." He said flatly. He'd always wondered how a vampire would react to a present, he half expected her to tear it to sherds and force it down his throat. He waited for a reply.

Angeles continued to look at the present before turning to look at Erik. She reached for and took the present from Erik's hand and then twisted in the chair and set it under the tree before turning around and glaring at Erik again, remaining silent, already regretting her decision, "when you came into the inn, after rescuing your brother from your clan, you were wounded, covered in blood and unconscious. You were easy prey then," her eyes glowed slightly, "I carried you and your brother into the medical room and left before I acted on my instincts to drink you dry."
She then looked away from Erik and back into the fire.

The words twisted in Erik. "You...saved me?" He said, astonished. He didn't understand. He'd always known Angeles to want him dead, wounded or not. When she got her chance, she didn't take it. "But...why?" He asked, still confused. She could have killed him, but didn't, and he was soaking in his own blood.

"Because I admired you," she said, trying to sound distant, "I admired your devotion to your brother," she could not explain more beyond that, leaning slightly so that her chin rested on her knuckles as she watched the flames dance, "I told Zulma not to tell you because I did not need you to dwell on my one act of kindness, so that you continued to hate me so that you would not be confused as to why I was still trying to make you leave."

"Don't say that. He said. "I couldn't truly protect him in the end, what's the point." He still wouldn't sever his ties with his family as he'd been taught. Erik couldn't peice it all together, he would need one more peice to solve the puzzle. "Does your heart beat?" He asked.

"Does it matter?" asked Angeles turning to look at Erik, her green eyes reflected the fire as well as his visage.
