User Image((OOC: I do have a couple things in mind. One for right now and another for later that afternoon as soon as Alex and Sofia get home from school.))

The class went by quickly enough once Brandy's latest attempt at humiliating someone had gone FUBAR on her. As Alex, Sofia, and Debra were leaving the class, Cynthia hesitantly approached them. The fact that she was alone was surprising enough, but her cheerleader's uniform was conspicuously absent. Cynthia had always worn her cheerleader's uniform ever since she had become a cheerleader and a member of Team Bimbo, and so it was significant that she wasn't wearing it now. "Excuse me, Sofia," she said hesitantly, "But I just... wanted to apologize for helping Brandy with her stupid plan to trick people with that photo. I should have known better, and in a way I did know better, but I let her use me like that and now I feel sorry about it. I hope that you can find a way to forgive me." Cynthia made a sidelong glance in Debra's direction as she continued, "I've taken the advice that someone has given me, and now I can see how Brandy has been using me all along, and I'm not going to put up with it anymore! From now on, I'm thinking for myself and I'm choosing my friends for myself!"

It was rather surprising that Cynthia had come up to her to tell her all that. For a moment she wondered if this was some elaborate plan bu then again, Brandy wasn't smart after all. With a soft smile, Sofia nodded and replied, "I'm not one to hold a grudge toward someone who apologizes for their mistakes and know that it was a mistake. It's good that you can now live for you and not anyone like Brandy...." Sofia then turned to leave figuring there wasn't more to talk about and headed for her next class.

(Alright, let me know when your ready to time skip :3)

Cynthia appeared to be relieved that Sofia had proven to be so forgiving. There was something that Alex was curious about, and so he said, "So, you're no longer a part of Brandy's little clique, huh? That must be why you aren't in your cheerleader outfit. So that you won't be associated with them anymore." Cynthia hesitated, and then said, "Actually... I quit the cheerleader squad. I never really wanted to be a cheerleader. It was all my mother's idea, and she insisted on it because it was the 'proper' thing for a young woman to do in high school. Well, I want to be something that's not proper, like an auto mechanic. One of my uncles owns an auto repair shop, and he has four sons that are always helping him in the shop, and sometimes they tell me things about auto repair. It sounds like an interesting line of work. I think that I could do it." Cynthia then glanced at Debra as if she was seeking Debra's approval. Debra merely shrugged and replied, "Hey, if being an auto mechanic is your thing, then go for it!" "I will!" Cynthia said in return, and then she went merrily on her way.

((OOC: OK, we can skip to the afternoon now, starting with Alex and Sofia's arrival at home.))

The day went fairly well as people seemed far too tired (due to it being Monday) to really even harrass her as much. Once Debra was dropped off she headed hom with Alex, keeping in mind that she had to go walk Bo at some point within the day before the sun set. With the car parked and locked with the alarm on, she headed up to open the door and let Alex go in first before walking in and shutting/locking the door. Bo was quick to greet the both, a toy in his mouth as he clearly wanted some attention. Chuckling, Sofia patted his head and took the toy from him, waving it in front of his face before tossing it up slightly in the air, letting him jump up a bit to catch it in his mouth. As usual Bo grew bored rather quickly and trotted off to mind his own business while Sofia and Alex could unwind and relax a bit from the day of school.

As luck would have it, Alex was passing by the telephone just when it rang. Taking advantage of his proximity, he answered it by saying, "Alex and Sophia's place. Alex speaking." "Hello, Alex. It's me," his mother said in return. "Oh, hi Mom!" Alex said, "Hey, I'm glad you called because I need to talk to you about something. You see, Sofia loves the gift that you gave her, and I mean that she really loves it, but the thing is, her family doesn't celebrate birthdays, and so all of the fuss and attention that you gave her yesterday made her feel a bit uncomfortable. Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't wish her a happy birthday or bring her a gift. I'm saying that maybe next year it would be better if you were a bit more low-key about it." His mother was silent for a moment and then said, "Oh. Well... I don't see anything wrong with that, since that's what Sofia prefers. I just wanted to make her feel like part of the family." "Believe me, she does," Alex assured her.

"Anyway, let me tell you why I called," his mother went on to say, "As I have told you before, your father and I have four tickets to tonight's showing of 'Les Miserables'. Our friends Jack and Diane were going to go with us, but they've had to cancel, and now we have an extra pair of tickets. As I understand it, Sofia is a big fan of music, and so I was wondering if you two would like to go with us. I realize that it's a school night, but surely an exception can be made for a cultural event." To tell the truth, Alex didn't know anything about 'Les Misérables', aside from the fact that it was a very popular musical. It was just like his mother to do something like this in order to expose him to something cultural. Even though he was somewhat reluctant to accept, he really couldn't turn down the opportunity without discussing it with Sophia first, and so he replied, "Give me a minute and I'll ask Sophia if she is interested." While covering the phone with his hand, he then called out, "Sofia! Mom says that she and Dad have a couple extra tickets for tonight's performance of 'Les Misérables', and she wants to know if we're interested in going with them."

Sofia had gone to the kitchen to feed Bo and as she was coming out, Alex had called over to her. She looked at him and for a moment grew ever so excited since she had see 'Les Miserables' twice before and loved it though she wasn't sure if he meant play or the movie that recently came out. Either way she was fine with seeing both. With a smile she gave a nod, "Oh sure, that would be nice. I'll call Debra and ask if it's alright if I can leave Bo with her. If not then i'll find someone to watch him." She then went over to the living room and sat down on the couch, pulling her phone out and texted Debra if she and her grandmother were okay with Bo being there for a bit. In a way, it was a 'date night' for her and Alex though she didn't want to see it that way, especially since they were going with his parents.

"Sofia says that it will be nice. Count us in," Alex informed his mother. "Wonderful!" his mother replied with the confidence that might have come from the fact that she had been fully expecting Sofia to be interested, "We'll call you before we come to pick you up. Curtain time is 7:00, and so perhaps we'll have time to stop for supper along the way. Oh, and I hope that Sofia has something formal to wear. That goes for you as well." A knowing smile came to Alex's face, even though his mother couldn't see it, and he said, "That should be the least of your worries. We'll see you tomorrow." Alex said goodbye, hung up the phone, and as soon as Sofia had finished texting for the moment, he repeated to her everything that his mother had said.

Debra was pleasantly surprised when she got the text from Sofia. After a brief consultation with her grandmother, she sent a text back that stated that her grandmother would be delighted to do that favor for Sofia. Debra also mentioned that she had told her grandmother that Bo was the most well-behaved dog in the world, which probably had helped.

"Hm, I kinda figured it would be formal," Sofia replied with a chuckle as she let Debra know that she would be dropping off Bo now since she would have to get ready now. Unlike before she would not have her cousin assist her since she pretty much remembered the tips she had told her and what not. Now it was time to dig into her closet of clothes she never wore, clothes her mother gave her almost every damn weekend saying that a woman shouldn't wear the same thing twice.

First on her list was to take Bo to Debra and her Grathermothers home. She let Alex know she would be back soon and drove off. After a short talk with Debra's grandmother she smiled and waved at the two, heading back home. Luckily she had no assignments for any classes so she didn't have to worry about that, nor did she have to worry about any tests.

Once home she took a shower and began to get dressed. To actually look decent and go to a theater with a formal dress code for what play they would watch, she needed time to get ready. This time, Sofia didn't have to dress the way her mother would be pleased and simply chose to be more conservative (well as conservative as she could find) though she still wore the dress rather than the dress wearing her and her natrual make up yet again simply enhancing her hidden beauty. Once her contacts were in she simply waited for his parents to pick them up. Her shoes were something she was okay wearing. Sofia could openly admit that she loved shoes much like any other girl.

Alex didn't think twice about putting on the same suit that he had worn the previous night. He was just like his father in the sense that he was perfectly content to wear the same suit over and over again for months, if not for years. In fact, the only way that his mother could get his father to buy a new suit was to threaten 'do it or else!', and even then his father put it off until she took him to buy the suit. Conveniently enough, Alex had finished getting dressed when the phone rang, and his mother informed him, "We are on our way. I hope you two are ready." "We're just waiting for you," Alex replied. After he hung up, he told Sofia, "My parents are on their way now."

"Great," she replied as she waited patiently in the kitchen before walking over to the door when there was a knock. She opened the door and smiled at his mother and father, telling them to come in. Shutting the door she asked if they wanted anything to drink but they declined and it was best to head off now.

"If you don't mind me saying so, Sofia, your outfit is absolutely gorgeous!" Alex's mother said to Sofia, "You simply must tell me where you bought it." She then teasingly remarked to Alex's father, "Close your mouth, dear. It's not polite." "I wasn't staring with my mouth open!" Alex's father protested, although he had to admit that he might have been admiring his daughter-in-law just a little bit. "Since we still have a couple hours until showtime, I made reservations for us at 'The Olive Garden'," he informed Alex and Sofia, "I hope you don't mind."

Sofia had lived in Europe for a bit after all and she did spend more time in Italy than any other country. Of course going to Italy to have Italian food could surpass many of the restaurants there (unless it was a small little restaurant by Italians). Sofia smiled and nodded, "Olive Garden is one of my favorite restaurants so I don't mind at all." As she opened the door Alex's parents would be surprised to see a limo waiting for them. She figured they may not have experienced riding in one like that. Turning to them she smiled and said, "And I hope you don't mind that I got us a different ride. This way no one has to drive." That and they could ride in style though she wasn't too focus on that aspect. She really just wanted everyone to have a relaxing day so eliminating having someone to drive came to mind.

Once they all got in the driver headed off to the restaurant.

After a brief awkward silence, Alex's mother said to Sofia, "It's so good that you and Alex could join us this evening. We've been looking forward to tonight, and while it is kind of a shame that our friends had to cancel on us, I think that this evening at the theater will be even more enjoyable now that we've made it a family outing." Of course she didn't understand that the concept of a family outing was not something that Sofia was familiar with. She then went on to inquire, "Have you had very many opportunities to go to the theater? I wish that I could say that we have, but my husband and I rarely get the chance to go to the theater, let alone to a Broadway production like 'Les Misérables'. As for Alex, I doubt that he has ever been to a stage musical of any kind. Just those at the movie theater, or on TV."

Any activity with family members was a rare moment, in fact the last thing she did as a family thing (that was not a party) was something that happened long ago. Before she could linger on those thought she looked at her mother-in-law and smiled, "Actually I've been to many theaters around Europe when I was young and when I arrived in the States I continued to go to very well known theaters and even some that none have heard of though they had very nice performances there. I suppose that's probably where I got my love for music."

The very word 'music' reminded her about Friday and now was a perfect time to invite his parents despite how much more nerve wracking it would be to have them there. She told them the date and time and let them know that if they were coming they and Alex would have a seat at the front. They arrived at the restaurant and she walked in with them as they were seated.
