She set her brush down, crossing her legs in the chair and sitting up straight, "I en't be'n 'round sin'e she was t'o. I am the voi'e on the mob'le tha' she knows is 'Mum'. I'm no' wha' she ne'ds. I canno' be wha' she ne'ds. I ne'er will be tha' perso'. I's a 'ard tru'h an' I go' a li'e wit' tha' for my en'ire li'e. I's my cro's ta ba'e. ." Sighing, resting her hands on her lap, shoulders lax, "Don' ge' me wron', Re'y. I don' use 'er as amunit'on. Ne'er on'e 'ave I pu' 'er aga'nst 'im. I figh' my own bat'les wit' 'im bu' she's alwa's be'n asle'p in 'er roo'. 'E tal's ou'side so 'e ca' smo'e. So 'e ca' ye'l an be u'set. 'E does no' wan' wha' e's go' bu' i's 'is ta be'r. Honey smiled softly, there was pride to talking about Sparrow- even if it was small and gentle, "Spar'ow is jus' a baby, she don' know bet'er. 'Er ac'ions a 'er own. A min' wit'out res'on, jus' purpo'e. She'll gro' up an' be wha'e'er she wan's an I'll s'ill lo'e 'er. If she was 'urt or in toub'e she go' 'er go'paren's ta ta'e 'er. Ignus jus' 'as no' gi'en in an 'e won'." She wondered for a moment if Remy could understand it. If anyone could. Honey sighed, picking up the brush and painting feet, "I's pre'ty mes'ed up yea'? I 'ope ya' don' t'ink le's a me, bu' I don' min' if ya do. Mos' do. I canno' be u'set abou' 'ow 'ou fe'l- i's 'our righ', Lo'e. "I know because of a marvel I didn't make," Tyler answered her, opening up the map on the laptop screen. "We have very large machines whose job it is to make maps of the entire Earth...I use those maps to find safe coordinates to appear. As for watertight items...they wouldn't be comfortable to wear, sadly." Kyou began to ask about being trapped in ice...he really didn't want to think about it that deeply, but everything she mentioned was surprisingly accurate.
"...and that's why I spend so much time calibrating and double-checking it," he said at last, after her onslaught of worst-case scenarios. "To ensure as much safety as possible in what I do. Thankfully, the one major error I've experienced wasn't entirely harmful. Just disorienting..."
Marilyn looked to him, shaking her head softly. "I would be intimidating even without the weight of Christ behind me," she chuckled. "But...this feels awkward, but thanks for your encouragement."
Sosol refilled the glass of water. "Just get your strength back, okay? I'm sure we'll be able to smooth everything out...just think what the girls at the convent will say. You resisted a demon's temptation for days. Bet they can't top that."
Marilyn blushed lightly. "I...I guess you're right about that..."

"Structurally, the Inn is very strong, and capable of repairs on its own, oddly enough. What rewiring is...well, that copper you liked to chew on is a wire. It directs the flow of electricity...so, in rewiring, I was making the flow of electricity through the Inn easier and more efficient. A staple can be a lot of things...in this context, I mean it's very basic, something that is used every day." He paused for a little...two of those questions were a bit personal. Despite the fact that it had been three months, technically...he had just finished confessing some of his deepest secrets to someone else.
"The gloves allowed my hands and arms to pass through solid surfaces like a ghost...and the traps. Well, before I lived here, I needed them to keep myself and my possessions safe."

"...stop lying to me, demon," she gave a weak smile, gulping down another bite of bread. "You are stronger here than you were before."
"And you're still spurning him," Sosol smiled, watching her surprised reaction.
"...! You are a sly one, Isaiah," she shook her head, unable to shake the smile. "I will return home once I have the strength to travel. It seems Tyler is still repairing his pride and joy, or I would ask him."
"Incredibly," Tyler answered Kyou, needing no reminders of his own mortality. He had used magic, in a way...it was one of the few times he blended the two, though with the force of the GMO Labs behind him, new opportunities always popped up. The question of copper came up, and he hummed in thought. "Well, if you really need it, I'm sure we keep enough stock for you to share. If it's just the copper taste...have you tried a penny on the tongue?" He pulled a shiny one from his pocket. "It won't poke you...I'd just recommend giving it a quick wash, first."

"Checkers." She looked at him for a moment...he was sincere, which was oddly disarming. "Yes, I can play...are you wanting to challenge me?"
Sosol rolled his eyes, standing and leaving them for the moment. He knew Malachai wouldn't pull anything, and Marilyn was too weak to. So, he figured, he'd finish his painting.
"A bit of both," Tyler agreed. The phasing gloves had been a weapon of necessity during their ghost-busting days a couple years prior. It was hard to fend off a ghost you couldn't touch. It was afterward they found a practical use. He handed over the penny, smirking. Penny for her thoughts, eh?
"A question for you...? Well, I am curious about these mushi you continuously describe. You claimed to have one dormant with you...do they typically inhabit people in such a manner?"
Azana had retreated upstairs but now came down again, vaguely annoyed. She had read the intel...there was trouble, and once again the Von Helson clan was involved. An underworld brawl with the Kuro Gang, a family of dark elves with long reach and a tarnished history. Stella and the others on the board were seeing this as an opportunity...send in some agents, cripple the network of organized crime, and stop some of the infighting among the prominent Von Helsons. That's a lot of birds to hit with one stone...
