He had suggest to wash it? Once Kyou had the penny there wasn't even a second thought as it went right into the torn mouth. Working it around a long moment, enjoying the copper taste, Kyou would only speak once the coin rested beneath broad tongue. "Mushi can be symbiotic, however most are not. It is hard to explain, I have studied them all my life and still cannot find a shorter way of telling others about them. Mushi are things that are somewhere between life and death. They’re like 'beings' and like 'things.' They are living but on the verge of death. They are in essence neither good nor bad, as us they simply wish to live and survive. Most are harmless to humans, even helpful. As a host this is not the case for me. One day this form will belong to the mushi."

"Yes! So you can beat me, because I'm bad at checkers, and the other nuns'll be real impressed!" he smiled, tail waving.

Remy shrugged, shaking his head. "I, I dunno...It just seems like a dicey situation. I'm really sorry..."  

[Astra_Senpai]

Honey smiled, "I'd lo'e ta 'ave 'er wit' me. I fe'l li'e I'm mis'ing a lo' bu... t'is is 'ow i's got'a be," she touched her temple against his shoulder in a brief affection, "T'ank 'ou, Re'y." Sitting back up and looking over her work, she giggled, "'Ou t'ink Ma' woul' 'elp me 'awk my 'air?"

"You want to play me in checkers," she repeated, "so I win and impress the convent." She leaned in, expression suspicious. "And what, exactly, do you get out of this?"

"I know that look," Sosol said, watching his wife in thought. "What is it this year? I'm not sure we can top pharma-werewolves."

"Supernatural mobsters," she summed it up in two words. "Dark elves, and the Von Helsons. Because hey? Why would they ever stay out of trouble?"

Tyler considered all this, humming in thought. The closest thing he could place them to was perhaps a nature spirit, neither alive nor dead, good or bad. He kept relatively calm as Kyou talked about belonging to the mushi eventually, mostly because he figured she didn't want to make a big deal out of it. She hadn't yet, after all. "I assume, by your resignation, there's no way of extracting it from you..."

"I don't see why she wouldn't...but it's gettin' chilly, doncha think?"

He paused, brow furrowing as the concept sank in. "...Wha?"

"The mushi is rooted in my heart, the beat keeps us both alive." Kyou undid some of the bandaging to show the obsidian colored skin beneath, "This is the result of it becoming dormant. However the markings on my other side are not tattoos but branches of the mushi. I believe when it is no longer dormant I will be mute once again and it will have more control than before. I admit it is a sad thought, however I have been this way since before childhood."

Honey wrinkled her nose, "I coul' alwa's gro' it ou' and sha'e it in the sprin' bu' tha's so lon' fro' now... I don re'lly e'pect ta be 'round tha' lon... I'm not'ing spec'al, no' li'e any a 'ou. T'ough I coul' wri'e so wi'ked bal'ards."

"...I see," Tyler listened and observed. Removal was not so much impossible as counterproductive. It'd be just as likely to kill the host in the process, and she was the expert on such beings. "Are you still aware when it gains control? Or do you become as a separate entity entirely?"

"Don't play dumb," Marilyn scowled, folding her arms. "It's almost insulting. No demon is that altruistic...there has to be something in it for you."

"You're acting like they look for it," Sosol tilted his head. "Two of them own shops, and there's plenty of factions."

"Yeah...about that," Azana sighed. "The board's hoping that we can utilize this to consolidate some of those factions, preferably under Louie."

"Since when does anyone have to be special to stay here?"

He pouted, tail falling. "I like playing checkers? You can check my mind if you want..."  

[Astra_Senpai]

"It depends. I have fallen asleep in one place and woken in another, far from where I was before. Before it went dormant I believe it was attacking the giantess. From time to time it acts independently. As it is dormant I have no need to restrain it with leather or hide it in complete darkness. I cannot open my other eye as the light burns- in the dim light I can only make out some shapes but not clarity. I worry it is jealous... if you will.. of those I befriend. Before Peru turned to stone... it attacked him and he would not come near for me to apologize. I will have to ask Mr. Maro for more of the salve he used. It hurts a great deal and I believe my heart stopped, but I am still here."

She shrugged, "I's jus' ya all can cas' or are t'ings a myt'. No' ta' men'ion ya all a so... beau'iful."

"I'll keep that in mind," Tyler nodded, somewhat worried about that possibility. If it was jealous, if it did act independently, he would have to be cautious. At least he knew what to look for, in that case. "As for Marouse, I'm sure he'd make a house call."

Marilyn blinked, sitting back again. He just wanted to play checkers? It...it was true. There was nothing outside of wanting to play a game. "...okay...grab a board."

Violet looked to Honey, frowning. "That's...not true," she finally piped up, her watercolor strokes turning into flowers.

He perked up, beaming, and romped off to the cupboard, fetching the checker board. "Can I be red? Can I?"

Remy nodded to Violet. "She's right. And what makes you think you aren't pretty?"

Honey grinned, winked, yet again another beautiful tenant. Honey certainly felt like an ugly duck here, "A co'rse I 'aven't me' eve'yone. 'Ello, Lo'e." She giggled, "Ah, Ma'e, 'ou se'n me? I'm a wa'king connec' the do', lou', ca' fi' into a duf'le ba' an' I en't go' a bit a me't on me. All a ya' are... beau'iful sha'es and li'es- li'e a goo' son'."

A small touch of color crossed the pale skin on Kyou's face, looking down to pay attention to the wrapping, "Mr Gren said he would take me to visit Mr Marouse so I may give him a mushi as a thank you. I am hoping to obtain some then... I do not wish to be a bother to Mr. Marouse as he has done so much out of the kindness of his heart."

"How can you think like that?" Violet asked, looking almost shocked at her description of herself. "That's not what people--what I see when I look at you...!"

"Well, that certainly makes it easier. Gren always pulls through on what he says." Tyler edited a few more lines of code, giving her a moment to wrapping herself back up. "If I may ask...why did you mention hallucinations earlier...?"

"Of course," Marilyn nodded, fishing out the black checkers for herself.

Remy tilted his head, frowning. "And those aren't charming traits, somehow?"

Malachai got out the red, laying them carefully. "Felix was teaching me how to play this game, so I'm really new at it...but I think black goes first?"  

[Astra_Senpai]

"I have always associated disorientation with hallucinations. Only when I encounter Hunters do I have the problem, their venom is very unpleasant. Miss Stella had one with her I had never seen before- very beautiful and possessed a venom I would like to study. However it would require finding another and allowing it to bite me more than once. Also not pleasant."

Honey wrinkled her nose, bowing her head, a small blush across her face, "Nah I'm jus' a pre'ty voi'e."
