"That won't help," Tyler said, slightly exasperated as he left his second attempt at breakfast to help Honey. He slipped the icy materia into his arm, hoping that Kiran was nowhere close. "Not until you cool it down first...Blizzard," he whispered, trying to keep the chill to a relative minimum. He didn't want to freeze her...just cool it down.
"To be honest...I didn't eat the pancakes," he said, stomach loudly agreeing with him. "I gave 'em to Az...she really liked them, though."
"It's a place where they make your hair look pretty," Marilyn explained, checking momentarily for split ends. "Yes, but dyes use more chemicals these days, rather than natural plants. I'm not sure where people get their hair dyed, but it's probable. I don't plan to change my color...I was just making the point that anyone could have a strange hair color anymore."
She took the cocoa in hand, much preferable to coffee (nothing against Tyler). A long sip that warmed her from the inside out...it didn't quite have that tinge of love, but it would be close enough. He was making everyone feel at home, including her. "Thank you, Mr. Eckener."
"No one calls him that," Sosol chuckled, hovering a pair over for himself and Azana. "Just like nobody calls me Isaiah anymore...or by my full name, for that matter. I guess Sol just fits better."
"It's easier to say, too," Azana winked to him, sipping the cocoa. "That's much better...thanks, both of you. And thanks, Honey!!!" She was in a much better mood now that she didn't ache and sting...but Remy's hyped announcement was starting to creep up on her. What did he need to say?

Morning broke, Honey barreling down the stairs in her usual fashion... except only half way down. The main room looked like someone was playing a joke. All the tables, chairs and sofas had been turned upside down. Scraps of cloth lay scattered about, the fire seemed to be out. It looked like someone had had a fit. She picked up a scrap of bandage it looked like it had been torn free and was stained a funny color. A low hiss drew her attention towards the far side of the room. Well that was new! Her curiosity won over the idea to go back upstairs and get someone.
It was cloudy outside, looked like rain, her hands came up and began to play notes to a Bob Dylan song. She swallowed, "'Ello?" Finished coming down the stairs, trying the switch for the lights but nothing happened. Had the power gone out? "W'as go'ng on? So'eone fo'get ta pay the elec'ric bill," she joked lamely, looking to the rafters- was that leper around? What was his name?
A crunch under her bare feet, she winced as glass sliced her foot. "Dam'it," she seethed, standing on one foot and pulling the shard free. Oh that had been deep! She looked the glass over in the dim light. Wait- this was light bulb glass. A breathy snarl drew baby blues up and pupils fully dilated as her heart began to race. Mouth dry, Honey realized at this moment she'd made an error.
Rising from a canopy of bandages, came the leper... or what Honey had believed was a leper. Something was very different and it made her nauseous. It wasn't a smell but a feeling- one she hadn't had for years. A gleam of gold, long blacks horns, heavy looking armor and sharp white teeth... but only half. The dark half hissed and snarled as the lighter seemed... out of place. The lighter side moved as if numb or not fully mobile, the eye shut but limbs clumsily moving. "Lord abo'e," she whispered.
Honey very slowly began to back up, leaving a bloody foot print- not registering the pain of stepping on the same glass as before. The lepers mouth opened, the symphony of cicada's echoed in the room as if it were hollow. The pink haired minstrel trembled, oh this was the kind of scared that... She realized her feet had stopped moving, she'd pulled her arms in palms open and the lumbering beast was towering over. The warm breath reminded her of aged vanilla as is ruffled her hair, a sniffing sound. Honey gave the tiniest of cries, her lungs locking. Her eyes level with the long white smile, she couldn't move- couldn't think. A caress of a long black talon lifting her chin, tearing the skin without care- it snapped her out of it and she shrieked.
