Lin looked up as she heard Kyou coughing, as if asking her if she was alright, yet she remained silent.
Mal's comment though got the Asian woman's eyes wide open. How could he miss someone he did no know?!
"I do not understand Mister Malachai." she admitted.

Her long tail wrapped around Jeff's waist. Only grumping if the petting left her noggin. Something beyond that seemed inappropriate for some reason. Why was that again? Of course she was soft! She took very good care of the snowy fluff, after all pretty like this couldn't all be natural. Of course she was cute! She was the cutest fox fox miles around! Ah this was nice! She wondered if he played fetch, she liked that game. It seemed to make the humans happy.

Animals always had a soothing power with humans, especially grumpy teens. His long fingers were scratching gently her head and he pecked her nose once.
"I wonder what your name is..." he muttered.
He cast a glance outside.
"Do you go out? Wanna go for a walk?" he said. He was not the time to stay sitting idle for a long time.
Lin tried to comprehend Mal's idea, but it was too foreign for her, more foreign than speaking to a demon or sharing tea with a vampire. Yet she knew deep in her what he meant as she had felt a tinge in her heart when she had heard about Kyou's sad story.
"All is fine. Please do not mention it." she said with conviction.
She tried to orient the discussion towards something else.
"So who is your close friend?" she asked, unable to use the word 'lover'.

She covered her nose with her paws, hiding her muzzle- no that was too intimate. Ears fwipped up at the word 'out', her tail ruffled and unwrapped. He meant outside! Outside for a walk in the cold, sunny day! She jumped to the floor and playfully padded at the floor to encourage him. She spun in a circle, pranced to the door and watched him for a long moment. He was taking too long already! OUTSIDE! Throwing her head back, she left out a tiny, sweet howl of 'let's gooooooooooooooooooooo'.

Jeff chuckled and followed. 'Out' seemed to be a word the animal knew. He was totally clueless that the white fox was actually a human being.
"I'm coming, I'm coming!" he laughed, grabbing a jacket and opening the door.
Moments later they were both welcomed outside by a cool ray of sunshine.

Lin thought for a minute then nodded slowly.
"I believe I have, but it was a couple of months ago." She looked at Mal.
"It seems he makes you happy." she said very calmly.

Kiran shook his head, "I a-am t-t-tir-red."
Mel looked up, "We've only just begun, Mr. Degas."
He turned the paper over, "N-n-no m-mor-re."
She sighed, "Are you hungry? Is that why you're upset?"
He thought on it, long and hard before nodding yes.
Mel reached into her satchel and produced a granola bar, "It's all I have. If we work for an hour, we can get something more substantial."
He took it, considering it a long moment before winding up a pitch. Mel grabbed his wrist, tone firm, "Mr. Degas, have you taken you medication yet?"
He glowered, shoulders going limp, "I a-am h-hung-gry."
She let go, he unwrapped the bar and nibbled at the contents- their conversation continuing.
Kyou exhaled a plume of smoke, it twisted- never spilling over the edge of the corner.

Lin had an understanding nod. Finding someone who completed oneself was a very unique thing and when it happened, only happiness could be seen on the couple's faces.
"I am happy for you both." she said in earnest.
She felt the strain of fatigue and slowly stood up.
"I need to rest, if you'll excuse me." she bowed to Mal and walked towards the stairs, slowing down as she passed under Kyou.
"Next time, join us for tea." she said in a softer voice. Without another word, she headed to her room.

"Yep. But that happens." said the girl, scratching Mal's horns, earning a happy, groggy warble. "You kids being good over there?" she called to Mel and Kiran.

Mel gave a muffled answer. Kiran had begun tearing paper, Mel doing her best to stop him- it was difficult with his hand in her face. "I a-am t-t-tir-red," his mile long stare, flat tone and blank expression giving no assistance to the claim.
Mel turned her head, snatching the paper away, answering wholeheartedly, "You're being difficult."
Kiran looked hurt, made himself look small, "She l-l-lef-ft ag-g-gain."
Mel shook her head, "Have a sip of your tea, Mr. Degas. We'll take a short break."
His ears twitched as he complied. Mel touched the bridge of her nose.
Kyou shifted slightly at Lin's comment. Next time, Kyou would join... because it was a request from Lin. It was a complicated feeling as Kyou's heart beat quickened and coughing fit began.
