[RP] The Inn of Peace - IoP (Open to all)

The spaded tail tucked slightly at the warning look, but the approval was all he needed. Carefully, trying not to be too hot to the touch so as to spare the feathers, Malachai petted Nate's back, eyes wide and shining. So soft!  

[Azana Brown]

"You, either...? Now I'm worried," Sosol frowned. He'd hate for something to happen to the detective. "Have you even told the rest of your team about the wedding...?"

Azana watched, snickering. Nate really did have a one-track mind most of the time.

Violet came downstairs with a backpack and a heavy suitcase. Contrary to what most would believe, the backpack was her clothing and toiletries. The suitcase was full of art supplies and textbooks. It landed on the floor with a heavy thud, the girl winded from dragging it around.

Nate thought Malachi's touch was pleasantly warm and he smiled at the demon. A curious furry lump, however, poked itself out at the unfamiliar touch as Rico, the hamster, examined the situation.

"Mike and Jake are well aware of the pending nuptials, but I had presumed that Stacy was here with Tyler or working a case somewhere," he replied as he pulled out his cell phone.

Malachai gasped, starting. "A-a hamster?"

Gren poked his head from the kitchen, delighted at the sight of his friends. "Hey!"  

[Azana Brown]

"That's new," Azana muttered, looking at the rodent. Don't even think about it, Moonbeam. Pet, not food.

"I'd guess the latter...I've seen less of her than I have of you, my friend," Sosol sipped at a drink of his own. "If you can't reach her that way....I can always try."

Violet smiled...the Inn was so live--a pause. The crazy genius from before was back, the one who wanted to prod her head. He probably didn't want to anymore, but caution wasn't a bad thing, right? Besides, she'd be leaving soon...going somewhere safe for a week.

"I'm actually calling Tyler. He's a friend and I should probably get his side of the story before I push the panic button. Still, you're welcome to try and contact Stacy if you think you can reach her." He dialed Tyler's number and hoped it hadn't been changed since he last saw his fellow genius.

Rico looked around the room and saw people. People were unimportant to him at the moment, so he retreated back to the safety of the feathers.

She sniffed about in the kitchen, Spunky following as he licked the floor. What funny tastes. He went to Gren and got a snoutful of yep- THAT'S A BUTT! Before rolling on the floor and itching his back.

She yipped, pulling a chibi from behind the fridge, scruff in her teeth as a pup would be. Spunky ran over and sniffed at the creature with great curiosity, tail up and fwoofed out. WHAT IS THIS?! WAS IT FOOOD? IT SMELLED AMAZING! WHY WASN'T THIS OUTSIDE! WERE THEY OUTSIDE?! AH!

"...hello?" Tyler's voice came up on the other end. He, himself, was in his room, not as preoccupied as he would have liked to be. The evening with Zulma was great, but it still left their status horribly ambiguous...like both of them would have liked to, but neither would take that step yet. Maybe some dark corner of his mind still held out hope for Stacy, a silly proposition after all this time. Maybe he was hesitant to date the mountain woman because of her vagabond spirit, not wanting to be left in silent waiting forever. Or maybe it was that grim picture...her, then a him, after failing to stop the Fifth Horseman. He wasn't sure he could deal with that.

"Wait...Chris?! Been a while!"

Sosol nodded, closing his eyes behind sunglasses. It had been forever...the link was far from strong. Still, it was worth a try.

Stacy Masters...can you hear me?

Azana shrugged. "He's clearly not interested. Ah, well. Where'd you pick up the hitchhiker, Nate?"

"Tyler, I'm guessing you're in your room trying to solve the mysteries of the universe as usual. I hate to interrupt, but I need to talk to you about a few things. Come down and join us." He hung up the phone and turned to Az. "Rico joined up with us about six months ago. He moved into Nate's feathers and just stayed. Nate doesn't seem to mind."

Sosol, is that you? I haven't heard from you in a while. How are you?

Malachai stared at Azana. "Hamster?" he asked quietly, deeply confused. Did this always happen?

Gren jumped slightly at the sudden nosing, chuckling and glancing to the wlf, who was starting down...Zippo.

"...Hai!" chirped the chibi, pouncing.

"Am I really that predictable...?" Tyler shook his head, mild and joking disappointment clear. "Alright...be there soon." He hung up, wondering what on Earth Chris would want to talk about. They never quite got caught up on all his travels, and Ty had been busy on quite a few projects...

Likewise. I've been better, but I won't trouble you with that for now. At least the Inn is intact and there's no immediate threats. What have you been up to? We haven't seen or heard from you...detective work that busy?

Azana shook her head. "That's not on every bird, no...but Nate's very big for a bird. I guess Rico just finds it comfy in there."

Violet blinked, pulling out her sketchbook and drawing again.

I had been a bit wrapped up in a case I was working. I guess it kept me away longer than I wanted. I hope the gang didn't get too worried over me. If they did, tell them I'm fine and I should be home any day now and tell Tyler I said hello.

Chris glanced at his watch and pulled out his cell phone. A brief second later, it rang and Chris answered, holding it a safe distance from his ear.

"Chris, it's a disaster. It's all wrong!" shouted the familiar voice of Crystal Wade. What followed was a long string of incomprehensible words and then a click.

Chris placed the phone back in his pocket and ordered another drink.

That's a long case...but I'll be sure to pass on the message. Sosol answered, blinking a few times and getting accustomed to the real world again...only to hear Crystal on the phone, followed by another order.

"Planning going that well, huh?"

Tyler arrived downstairs, glancing to Violet and her drawing, then to Nate, Azana, and Malachai...and finally to Chris and Sosol at the bar. "Evening, folks," he greeted them, hands in pockets as he took a stool nearby.

"Good evening, Ty," Sosol greeted him kindly, looking between the two. "It sounds like she's finishing a very, very long case. Stacy should be back in a few days...and she asked me to say hi."

Tyler visibly stiffened...and sent Sol a drink order of his own. Of course...now she comes out of the woodwork.

Tam put the chibi down and sat watching. Spunky was all over the place. He barked and snuffed into the chibi before taking a n** at it. Was it food? No! Didn't smell or act like food? WHAT WAS THIS THING?! AHHH!

Spunky ran from one side of the kitchen to the other and back around again. He lay on the floor and wagged his tail wildly, nosing Zippo and smothering him in wolf kisses.

The fox tilted her head to the side. What was wrong with this wolf?

"You know Crystal, Sol. She has a tendency to overreact. I just sit back and let her handle the details. She'd only say I was getting in the way." Chris waved to Tyler as he sat down, then noticed the look he got when Sosol mentioned Stacy. "So, Stacy's coming back. That's good then, isn't it?"
