[RP] The Inn of Peace - IoP (Open to all)

"Long as it's shiny," Tyler retorted. "I'm just pondering the interesting differences in demonic interactions. That and the fact that they seem to respect or fear you, or perhaps both. Not without good reason, I recognize...however, Hemlock doesn't have that reaction, so I wonder if it's learned."

"Don't worry too much about it," Azana answered, looking up from her poor artwork. "We all deal with bosses at one point or another."

"It's a matter of aura...the elders recognize that I'm an unstable and very powerful creature, and are more wary...I'm sure he sees power, but most everyone's more powerful than he is, so the fact that I'm smiling probably makes all the difference." Charlotte replied, pulling a brand-new-but-miniature penny farthing bicycle from her pocket and offering it to Tyler. "He's just used to people being stronger than him. That, and he's not old enough to have seen me angry."

"Yeah, but yours isn't likely to kill you...and I know you don't really care for our kind much." said Mal, frowning slightly. "And you're probably worrying about Violet, because you're always worrying about Violet."

Bill grinned a little more, a hopeless geek. "I would delight in that, my lady Tamriel." he said with a deep bow of his head.

"So, a bit of both," he nodded, accepting the 'payment' with a bemused smirk. There was the Charlotte he knew. "Thanks for the insight. I hope your beau and the half-pint are having fun in there."

"Cinnamon!!!" Hemlock called in delight from the kitchen.

"That answers that," he muttered.

"Not anymore," Azana said vaguely, though it wasn't quite clear to what it referred. Perhaps a bit of all of them. "Vi's fine around you and seems to know when to steer clear of other demons. My boss hasn't been out for my head in a while, and the demonic population is something I'm learning to work with. Honestly, before Remy and Louie, I really didn't like vampires, either."

She let out a little sigh. "It's reconciling that with the winged one upstairs that gets to be the trouble. At least she's up for discussion..."

A thread hovered lightly across the room, unnoticeable except to the keenest eyes.

The girl beamed at the cheery call. "Can you imagine Orrin not having fun with a little kid? He's like a walking toy chest and is made entirely of kind intentions. The only downside is his sleepiness, and even then, it's kinda fun."

He flicked his tail, pouting. "But that's got to give you a headache...should Bill talk to her?"

"Good point," Tyler answered, toying with the miniature bicycle. Perhaps the chibis would enjoy it, especially with a few tweaks.

"I'm getting better about that," Orrin answered, peeking his head out for a moment. He looked back, seeming a little concerned. "Um, that might not be the best flavor idea, Hemmy..."

"Somehow, I get the feeling that it wouldn't end well," Azana answered. "I've had my fair share of headaches, and not just from her. I'll be fine, especially if she keeps her promise to take a step back and let me exercise my judgment."

Kyou crept along the rafters, reaching out for the stolen scarf. The silver mushi chirped, fluffing up and scooted away. The observer paused, cautious before quickly seizing the fabric. And thus began a game of tug of war. The mushi was much stronger than it looked.

A purr, "Wonderful." The base of her ears tinged red, her delight showing through a blush. She sighed, tone still sugar and kittens, "And back to formalities once again, do you still require paperwork to be done? If so, it may not be best to fill them out in the main room. Unless there's nothing which would set off the resident angel."

"It's still cute, though..." she grinned, humming at the comment to the imp. "Is he going for porkchops? I'd think demons would dig that."

"Well, it's not like Bill's looking for a fight." said Mal, rubbing the back of his neck and looking back to his boss, who was busy being charmed into idiocy. "I think he's really just a lot more curious than he lets on. Is she just mad that he came here overall?"

"I-I haven't got it with me...but I could go back and get it? And then come back, if they agree." he said sheepishly.

"What would happen if they did not," she asked. Please don't say detain you. Please.

Hemlock dashed out a bit later, the container now full of various small cartons of ice cream. "Eeeheeheeheeheehee~!" He immediately threw open the door and set it out in what remained of the snow. He wasn't leaving just yet...he still had to say goodbye to everyone, right?

"I doubt you'd be surprised what that machine churned out, but I was," he said, blinking a few times at the concept of some of the flavors. "As long as it makes them happy, it can't be so bad."

"...I think it's not quite that simple," Azana said after a moment's thought. "Yeah, she's a warrior for Good and sees evil beings as adversaries...but it was never quite this strong until I fully invoked her for the first time. She's been in my head, seen all of me in complete transparency. It kind of scares me a little, when I think about it. I think, maybe, that it's my deep attachment to these people that's making her overzealous. I always protected, but until I came here, I never quite cared as much."

"I would be detained." he frowned. "But for questioning, and perhaps the time granted to build an appeal for my case."

"Actually, I think I could..." hummed Charlotte, now burning with curiousity. "Innertubes? Ski lifts? What did he order?"

Malacahi's tail swayed in intrigue. "You...didn't care..?" he said, perplexed, a brow wrinkled. "I didn't think that was possible from you."

"Cinnamon, trout, mashed potato...after a point, it seemed he was just spouting off random foods," Orrin chuckled. "At least he had fun."

"I did, I did!" Hemlock cheered, giving Orrin a hug and nodding gleefully to Charlotte. "Thank you! Mistress will be most pleased! I can't wait until she sends me again!"

"Protecting Gaia's been my job since I can remember," Azana replied. "Doing so while keeping a low profile didn't give me a chance to get particularly close. It was so abstract, so distant, that it didn't particularly matter. As long as the mission was complete, some things were expendable. A lot of that changed when I came here, when I met Zulma and Gren and Eli...when I really got to know Sol, when Stella finally showed her true colors." She stopped, rubbing at one eye.

"I'm glad you met me as I am now, Malachai. I'll just stop there before I get too monologue-ish."

Kyou caught the banister just before a fall would have been most painful. Wrapped fingers gripping into the wood, Kyou chose to hang there a moment. A blink, watching the mushi collide and twirl around... a thread in midair?

The pen suddenly snapped to life What is that thread?

"The other option being staying without notification of vacation," she asked. Honestly she didn't know anything about how things worked in the circles, she wasn't the same kin after all.

"At least he's actually choosing foods." she said with a grin, snapping her fingers as she grinned to the imp, a cooler with dry ice inside landing nearby. "Good work!"

"To which they'd send someone for collections, as I was for Malachai."

The incubus tilted his head, frowning. "So, you took care of people you didn't care about? How can someone do that? It's one of those, um...contradictions, isn't it."

"Whooooaa..." Hemlock's tail flicked as he looked inside. "Thank you! I should go back, but I'll come back when we're done! I'll tell Tama and Deya you said hi, okay?" He picked up the box, holding the door open a minute with his tail as he put the ice cream in the new cold box. The blocks looked kinda familiar...maybe one of the mean people brought it once?

"You're always welcome around here, Hemlock," Orrin reassured him. He looked to Charlotte. "Well, I had to veto a couple flavors...Kaz didn't seem the sort to like grass ice cream."

"Of course I cared about them," Azana caught herself quickly. "The stakes weren't quite so personal, though. Defending fellow Gaians is one thing...but the people here are my friends and family. Anything that happens to them has a clear impact upon my life. It's an entirely different feeling."

Sosol blinked, noticing Kyou's scrutinizing gaze in his direction. I've been spotted...? Who pays attention to--she would. Mushi, and all... He pressed onward, figuring that she would either follow (at which point he could explain), or forget about it. As long as he wasn't outed to Az...
