Gareus had snuck out to the back, looking about and kicking some stuff out of the way.

"Opal? You around...? I wanted to see if I could get more tips on this horseshoe forging..."

Perplexed and curious, Kyou let go of the rafter and followed the thread. Most would wave it off as Mushi hunting, certainly.

White tail ruffling, full lips in a pout as she thought, "Which would be only an aggravation for whomever they send. The best way to go about it would be to take an example along with, gather, file and persuade accordingly." She leaned forward, smiling, fluttering long lashes, "And then return for a vacation never to be forgotten?"

"Okay, sweetie! You have a safe trip! If that thing's too heavy, you come ask for help." said Charlotte, waving to the imp cheerily. "Grass, huh..? Hm! I could try that, myself!"

"Ohhhhh, oh! I get it! Like, like the difference between being a sentry and being a protector by will!" smiled Malachai, certain he'd gotten this one on the head.

Bill's cheeks flared a mild ember-bronze. "Take...an example with?"  

[Azana Brown]

"Be my guest...I was thinking of donating it to the local chibis, but you always get first dibs." Orrin grinned, gesturing to the kitchen where a scoop awaited in a bowl. It was a delightful shade of green and smelled freshly mowed.

"Pretty much," Azana nodded. "It doesn't hurt that they overlap now, but that's a good grasp on the difference."

Sosol turned a corner upstairs before turning around and pulling down the hood. "Ty's right..you are really curious. And observant, too. Sorry for distracting you." He grinned, producing a gift box and a bouquet from under the folds of the cloak. "I was hoping to sneak this past my wife. I want it to be a surprise...hard to do when she's right downstairs."

A nod of her golden head, "I would suggest taking ice cream but it may not make the trip. A modern marvel may be your best option... a cellphone or tablet may suffice."


Moonlit head tilted to the side, the thought for Sosol, Is it Miss Azana's day of birth?

Hm? Oh, heavens, no! Sosol smiled, sending light mental images of hearts and roses and romance. It's a holiday known as Valentine's Day...a day set aside to appreciate those we love. I know she's not the biggest romantic, but that doesn't stop me.

Tyler stood up and headed for his jacket. He had something in mind for Valentine's, and a shaky but present notion as to who to surprise.

Charlotte cheered, charging into the kitchen in pursuit of snacks. Digging in, she downed the first spoonful with a look of delight, swallowed it, and merrily said "GRASS!"

"So you're an armed volunteer guard?" he said, rubbing his chin. "Gosh, you're sure nice...that's a rough task to pull; failure stings all the worse."

Bill looked politely bemused at such terminology. "What would a slab of stone do to prove anything?"

Tamriel sighed softly, producing a small sleek mobile from her bosom. She punched a few buttons on her little mobile and it began to play a violin concerto. "I am afraid my tablet is in my room, but these little pieces of technology are a large part of the socialization of many a human here."

A low snarl crossed the mushi, that low warning of cicada. Kyou stepping away but nodding, the sound of leather tightening from beneath the heavy fabric of the right arm. I see. It is a holiday for lovers, but do you not love one another every day? Why does this day stand out so?

"I'm glad it turned out," Orrin encouraged her, always finding her smile contagious. "...out of morbid curiosity, might I try a little?"

"Technically, it's my job," Azana said, thumbing over her shoulder to a dusty frame on the wall. "But my boss only put me here because I was already doing it...but yeah, failure stings." She frowned...they were few, but they stood out clearly in her mind.

If you're doing it right, it shouldn't, he answered, grinning. However, many choose this day to make their affections known, whether it is beginning a relationship, or taking it to the next level. For some, the romance has faded, and this is a chance to rekindle it. As for me, it's just an excuse to do something special, since so many places offer specials for couples. He looked down at the gifts, then beckoned her to follow, if she wished. He had to put these down before Azana thought of coming upstairs.

Bill startled, staring. "How...did they fit bards into such a small thing? Is this witchcraft?!"

"Of course! it's nice and fresh-cut." said Charlotte, offering a spoonful. "Tastes as nice as it smells. Would go well with cucumber!"

He glanced at the frame, squinting to read. "...You were given an assignment to do what you were doing anyway? Boy, is that lucky! Sheesh, you humans get all the breaks!"

Orrin took a bite, blinking and mulling it over. "It's almost...kind of like green tea flavor..." He said, comparing it to something a bit more conventional. "Perhaps we should try this combination!" He began punching in an order for cucumber, just for kicks.

"I think she did it out of guilt," Azana said, grinning a little at the thought of it being a break. "She'd put me through a lot, and kinda rendered me homeless for a bit...besides, with some of the mayhem that's happened here, they've needed the help."

Charlotte giggled, swaying where she stood, excited. "We could have a cool salad this way...imagine how refreshing the summer shall be!"

"Are we still talking about Miss Stella? That nice lady? Why would she do that to her own kin?"  

[Azana Brown]

"A salad sundae!" Orrin smiled, holding out a bowl of his newly made cucumber ice cream. "How novel..." He watched her swaying, glad for such an energetic companion.

"That's a long story..." Azana said, trailing off as she played with an empty glass. "She's been through a lot, too. Had to question a lot of things and look deep into herself. This 'nice lady'...I think I'm finally seeing the real her again."

Tamriel smiled, holding out the phone to Bill so he could look it over, "It is simply wires and circuits with electricity coursing through with a small chip of programming..."

Her ears flicked back, thinking, foreward, "Simply put it's technology for communication and entertainment."

Kyou would follow, curious about this. How is it special if you got it on sale? I do not understand. Is this holiday for everyone? Like Christmas? What of those who are indebted or enslaved? Is is only up the the male of the relationship to do this special something? Or is this another event not restricted by gender?

Bill's brow twitched, the concept lost upon him entirely. "When did such things come about?"

Malachai gave Azana a baffled look. "...You humans have very complicated relationships."

Charlotte nodded, sneaking a bit of cucumber and sampling it with the grass. "Ohhhh my."
