"Tell me about it," Azana laughed a little at that. Compared to demons, humans were quite complex. But at the same time, the basics were pretty simple. Even after everything, she still loved her cousin, and she believed the same could be said from Stella's point of view. "Free will can do that, make things complicated. A lot of us want to find and be who we are, but the secret is that we actually make ourselves. Our nature is malleable by our will...it's how Stella can turn from a spoiled brat to a kind and strong leader. How I can go from a detached agent to a loving guardian. How this place could turn from a simple sanctuary of respite to a huge, dysfunctional family."
"Well, don't hog it all," Orrin teased lightly, blending the two on his own spoon. "Now this, this is nice. Though I wonder who else would be adventurous enough to join us on this one..."
Not he'd done it. Kyou's infamous curiosity was now stalking him down the hall, his mind bombarded with questions about the holiday alien to her. Ty had grown quite patient with them, but he was still reeling a bit, trying to keep up. The specials are a way for businesses to encourage couples on the holiday. To go to them rather than somewhere else. It also allows people who wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise to provide a grander gesture. The holiday is for everyone, technically, but there are those lonely hearts who have rejected it because they have no one to celebrate with. Both males and females can take part, and they often do...our society places a bit more pressure on the males, though. He hoped he had covered it all as he unlocked the door and set the items on her desk. The cloak returned to its card form with a quick incantation. Don't you have someone you love, Kyou...?
Max hopped downstairs, tilting her head and raising an eyebrow at the main room's population. "Demon, Mal, Tam, Charlie, Rip, Azzy...my kingdom for a camera."

"...I dunno," Azana said after a moment's thought, looking into her glass and kind of wishing for either a spare moment or her dear husband. "I never really thought about it, to be honest. Didn't get a lot of social time with demons and the like." She found that a good place to stand up and head off for a refill.
"Need anything?"
Max blinked, looking down at her outfit and back to the new demon's gaze. She couldn't help but giggle...still making the same impression. "Sheesh...ya gonna gawk all day?" She asked, strolling past with a light jingle of bangles and the shift of fabric on fabric.
"I'd what?" She asked the pair, looking over two bowls of ice cream in shades of green.
"We're trying some offbeat ice cream flavors, thanks to Hemlock," Orrin answered, gesturing to the bowls. "We wanted someone with adventurous taste buds to try it."
"Man, Hemmy was here and no one told me? I miss that half-pint!" Max pouted, plucking away the spoon and trying a spoonful of each. "Grass, and...cucumbers? Ya guys hungry for spring or what?"

Bandaged head shook no, green eye looking about with curiosity but feet never going past the entry. The word is foreign to me. I have seen the emotion given from one to another, however I do not know it. A monster does not deserve such pleasures in life, we are meant to look from afar and be happy for others.
Tamriel watched, smiling softly, bowing her head to Max, keeping her gaze down, "I'm afraid Ladies still do not enjoy blatant staring, Sir. She's very colorful, very sweet." She may be just the slightest bit jealous.. or she's very tired. "The phones were made for convenience, not really making a surge in popularity until the past ten years or so? I'm afraid I only keep mine for small emergencies."

Azana quirked an eyebrow, pouring something for Malachai as well, not quite sure what answers went to what questions. "Well, don't get too wrapped up in it, Mal. Sometimes, it's best to stick to the basics. You're an incubus, and you're good at what you do. You're curious and learn quickly about the human world." She set down his glass, sipping her own. "The more basic you keep things, the easier it is to return to that core."
"I think so," Max nodded. "He's big on the veggies, and it's tasty enough in its own right." Her ears perked for a moment...someone was talking about her. Troubadour? Asking if phones were a necessity? She spun to face the two demons.
"Kinda sorta, and you're kiddin, right? Everybody's got one! They're how we communicate and keep up with the world! Life moves fast these days; carrier pigeons and horse-riding messengers just don't cut it anymore."
Sosol froze, expression turning a very rare shade of stern, perhaps even offended. Let me make one thing absolutely clear, Kyou. You are no monster. I have seen monsters. I have helped people battle monsters. You have not, do not, and will not fit that word. With that out of the way, he softened again, now more saddened. She had denied herself that vital part of human life...it must be quite lonely behind those bandages. And yet, she was here...how could she not notice the pervasive love of the Inn itself?
Orrin chuckled. "Adam should be a bit more active once the weather starts warming again," he said. "We'll make him some to celebrate..."

"And the lure some people to their doom!" Max laughed, admittedly amused by outdated demons. If only those religious nutjobs could see this...then they wouldn't denounce everything technological. She pranced off, looking for better conversations to have.
"Alas, my fate is sealed," Orrin said overdramatically, hand to forehead. "Forever lazy it is."
"Yes, actually," Azana said after a moment of mulling it over. "But I guess that's in a different context. There are people who get in trouble for 'knowing too much'." The idea popped into her head of showing him some of those mob films, but they weren't entirely accurate. She didn't want him getting the wrong idea.
----------------------------------------------------------------
A few days later, a lovely blonde strolled into the building, having not been there for a while and missing the atmosphere. It was a relief...taxes were done, admissions were starting for the next school year, she hadn't slept in a couple days making sure the previous two went off smoothly. Okay, maybe four or so. And maybe Alistair enforced a rule or two to get her out of the office. And Terry...? Well, he nudged her into leaving the apartment for a little while.
