"Tell me about it," Azana laughed a little at that. Compared to demons, humans were quite complex. But at the same time, the basics were pretty simple. Even after everything, she still loved her cousin, and she believed the same could be said from Stella's point of view. "Free will can do that, make things complicated. A lot of us want to find and be who we are, but the secret is that we actually make ourselves. Our nature is malleable by our will...it's how Stella can turn from a spoiled brat to a kind and strong leader. How I can go from a detached agent to a loving guardian. How this place could turn from a simple sanctuary of respite to a huge, dysfunctional family."

"Well, don't hog it all," Orrin teased lightly, blending the two on his own spoon. "Now this, this is nice. Though I wonder who else would be adventurous enough to join us on this one..."

Not he'd done it. Kyou's infamous curiosity was now stalking him down the hall, his mind bombarded with questions about the holiday alien to her. Ty had grown quite patient with them, but he was still reeling a bit, trying to keep up. The specials are a way for businesses to encourage couples on the holiday. To go to them rather than somewhere else. It also allows people who wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise to provide a grander gesture. The holiday is for everyone, technically, but there are those lonely hearts who have rejected it because they have no one to celebrate with. Both males and females can take part, and they often do...our society places a bit more pressure on the males, though. He hoped he had covered it all as he unlocked the door and set the items on her desk. The cloak returned to its card form with a quick incantation. Don't you have someone you love, Kyou...?

Max hopped downstairs, tilting her head and raising an eyebrow at the main room's population. "Demon, Mal, Tam, Charlie, Rip, Azzy...my kingdom for a camera."

Malachai smiled slightly. "What you get in free will...I guess we get in the security of knowing our destiny. What worries me, though, is whether I get to change too."

"Well, there's the demons...and I think I hear Max."
offered Charlotte. "Bet you a nickel she would."

Bill looked up to Max, eyes wide. Colors!

"...I dunno," Azana said after a moment's thought, looking into her glass and kind of wishing for either a spare moment or her dear husband. "I never really thought about it, to be honest. Didn't get a lot of social time with demons and the like." She found that a good place to stand up and head off for a refill.

"Need anything?"

Max blinked, looking down at her outfit and back to the new demon's gaze. She couldn't help but giggle...still making the same impression. "Sheesh...ya gonna gawk all day?" She asked, strolling past with a light jingle of bangles and the shift of fabric on fabric.

"I'd what?" She asked the pair, looking over two bowls of ice cream in shades of green.

"We're trying some offbeat ice cream flavors, thanks to Hemlock," Orrin answered, gesturing to the bowls. "We wanted someone with adventurous taste buds to try it."

"Man, Hemmy was here and no one told me? I miss that half-pint!" Max pouted, plucking away the spoon and trying a spoonful of each. "Grass, and...cucumbers? Ya guys hungry for spring or what?"

Bandaged head shook no, green eye looking about with curiosity but feet never going past the entry. The word is foreign to me. I have seen the emotion given from one to another, however I do not know it. A monster does not deserve such pleasures in life, we are meant to look from afar and be happy for others.

Tamriel watched, smiling softly, bowing her head to Max, keeping her gaze down, "I'm afraid Ladies still do not enjoy blatant staring, Sir. She's very colorful, very sweet."
She may be just the slightest bit jealous.. or she's very tired. "The phones were made for convenience, not really making a surge in popularity until the past ten years or so? I'm afraid I only keep mine for small emergencies."

He thought a moment, then shook his head. "No...no, I don't think so." he said, rubbing a horn thoughtfully. "I'm not sure."

"The grass was an accident. The cucumber was a complement." explained Charlotte, enjoying another blended bite. "Think Adam would like it?"

Bill looked back down humbly. "I beg your pardon, milady...I simply thought the girl was a troubador. Such colors are uncommon in our lands. As for the phones...are they a necessity?"

Azana quirked an eyebrow, pouring something for Malachai as well, not quite sure what answers went to what questions. "Well, don't get too wrapped up in it, Mal. Sometimes, it's best to stick to the basics. You're an incubus, and you're good at what you do. You're curious and learn quickly about the human world." She set down his glass, sipping her own. "The more basic you keep things, the easier it is to return to that core."

"I think so," Max nodded. "He's big on the veggies, and it's tasty enough in its own right." Her ears perked for a moment...someone was talking about her. Troubadour? Asking if phones were a necessity? She spun to face the two demons.

"Kinda sorta, and you're kiddin, right? Everybody's got one! They're how we communicate and keep up with the world! Life moves fast these days; carrier pigeons and horse-riding messengers just don't cut it anymore."

Sosol froze, expression turning a very rare shade of stern, perhaps even offended. Let me make one thing absolutely clear, Kyou. You are no monster. I have seen monsters. I have helped people battle monsters. You have not, do not, and will not fit that word. With that out of the way, he softened again, now more saddened. She had denied herself that vital part of human life...it must be quite lonely behind those bandages. And yet, she was here...how could she not notice the pervasive love of the Inn itself?

Orrin chuckled. "Adam should be a bit more active once the weather starts warming again," he said. "We'll make him some to celebrate..."

Pardon, Friend Sosol, I did not mean insult. This conversation will not assist with your holiday for your wife. Forgive me. And quickly, Kyou turned and left. The observer seized the silver mushi, wrapping it in the stolen cloth and went into the given room. Closing and locking the door behind, the observer lit incense and released the creature.

Tamriel smiled, nodding, "She is correct. This item alone has nearly replaced pocket and wrist watches. It took me ages to figure mine out." She looked, turning burned cheek into view, "I believe Dear Malachai has one as wwell."
PostPosted: Sat Feb 23, 2013 8:09 am
...the only person you're insulting is yourself, Sosol thought, frowning as she left. How could she think of herself that way?

"There's sooo much they can do now. It's like a computer in your hand!" Max beamed. "There's no substitute for the whole system, though...I wouldn't be able to search nearly as fast limited to one tiny screen."

Bill simply looked lost, and handed Tamriel her phone. "I'm afraid such things are lost upon me, my lady...as for you, humaness, I am not sure what a computer is."

Malachai sipped his drink. 'I suppose so...I was just thinking about freedoms..ones between human and demon and who can do what."

Charlotte grinned. "I bet...he's been such a sleepy head; but it's cute to see him wandering around all groggy!"

Tamriel hummed softly, the notes dripping gossamer, "They predate the cellphone, though the processes are similar. Think of them as undines and mermaids. Undine predates, tend to possess more knowledge but requires a deal of time to solve their riddles. Mermaids are younger, popular but tend to... be a bit useless for anything beyond silly songs or messages."

Max was about to answer, but Tam beat her to it, and she blinked at the end. Totally not the way she would've explained it, but-- "That's pretty much it, yeah."

"Getting a little philosophical on me, huh...?" Azana said, gaze flicking to the stairs for a moment before her attention was back on Malachai. "Just don't get yourself in knots over it."

"Oh, I see how it is," he said teasingly. "I'm just cute when I'm groggy...heaven forbid I get a little energy in me."
PostPosted: Sun Feb 24, 2013 7:26 pm
"Oh!" hummed the large demon. "So, they are tiny sirens?"

He pouted. "It's a big deal for us demons! Like our names, and ownership rules. Stuff humans sometimes take for granted and the like! I mean, has anyone ever come after you for being curious?"

"Sure, yes, of course." she teasingly agreed with a smirk. "Only when you're sleepy, yup. Get active? Doesn't matter how charming and loving you are, this girl's gone~."

She smiled gently, "They are comparable to sirens but are only made of technology. Boxes of circuits which make sounds, lights and the like... I do not own a laptop or a computer but I am certain taking a phone would be enough."

"And the lure some people to their doom!" Max laughed, admittedly amused by outdated demons. If only those religious nutjobs could see this...then they wouldn't denounce everything technological. She pranced off, looking for better conversations to have.

"Alas, my fate is sealed," Orrin said overdramatically, hand to forehead. "Forever lazy it is."

"Yes, actually," Azana said after a moment of mulling it over. "But I guess that's in a different context. There are people who get in trouble for 'knowing too much'." The idea popped into her head of showing him some of those mob films, but they weren't entirely accurate. She didn't want him getting the wrong idea.

----------------------------------------------------------------

A few days later, a lovely blonde strolled into the building, having not been there for a while and missing the atmosphere. It was a relief...taxes were done, admissions were starting for the next school year, she hadn't slept in a couple days making sure the previous two went off smoothly. Okay, maybe four or so. And maybe Alistair enforced a rule or two to get her out of the office. And Terry...? Well, he nudged her into leaving the apartment for a little while.

Kiran was sitting comfortably at a table with tea and surrounded by paper. He had a dreamy look to him, eyes partially open and smile gentle. His long ears perked at the entrance of the woman, he rose slowly, "G-g-g-g-good d-d-d-d-day, M-Miss."
