Chris just smiled as he searched building permits.

"Sol, we'll need a bottle of red wine and a 'Do Not Disturb' sign," Stacy said as she pulled Tyler in for a kiss.

Nate busied himself in the kitchen on his chili. Fortunately, Tyler's peppers were right where he had left them.

"Mike and Jake walked into the kitchen with a stringer of fresh fish. "Here ya go, beaky. Clean those for us."

"You've got it," Sosol smiled. Tyler needed this, he could tell. He pulled out one of his better bottles as well as the rarely-used DND signs, hovering the two to Stacy. "Need glasses, too...?"

"I can carry those," Tyler volunteered after given a moment for air.

"I hear more Knights," Azana smirked. "Guess it's getting a little late for fishing..."

"Lovely," Elizabeth groaned. "Got a "do not punch" sign, by any chance, bartender?"

"We'll do our best," he nodded. After all, Elizabeth was here to help...Stacy was allowed that one strike because, well, Sol certainly wasn't going to stop her.

"No glasses will be necessary, Sol. Nor will that 'Do Not Punch' sign," she added, glancing at Elizabeth. "So long as you stay out of trouble, that is." She took the sign, the bottle and the boyfriend and went upstairs."

"Only trouble I'm in is with psycho-Trent," Elizabeth retorted. "And maybe John Doe, after this is done..." She sighed. This wasn't at all what she had in mind.

"Might I recommend your place...?" Tyler asked as they walked the upstairs hall. "I've got half-completed projects all over...and traps. Those, too."

"Eeeeheeheeheehee~" Max's fingers zoomed over the keyboards, eyes wide with a caffeine rush. She had three windows, and oh, why didn't this CPU go faster? "I have missed you, information superhighway! Let's open that throttle!"

Azana quirked an eyebrow at Max and just chuckled. Digging around in her pack, she found a hairbrush and began to work out the tangles of long-term helmet use and windswept broom rides.

"I can smell those from here...!" Violet backed away from Tyler's pepper stash, eyes watering. "Are those even legal?!"

Nate grinned a rarely seen devilish grin as he chopped, stirred and simmered. This was going to be a masterpiece. He handed Violet a recipe for jalepeno cornbread and an apron before turning back ot his work.

Chris's fingers flew as he zipped through backdoors and cracked into servers and probably violated several different articles of the Information Security Act. This was the most fun he'd had in ages. Man, it felt good to be working a case again.

Stacy simply kissed Tyler as the door to her room opened and she pulled him inside, barely getting the DND sign in place before the door closed.

"Beaky's making chili again," Mike observed.

"I'll break out the cold milk."

"M-more peppers...?!" Violet was sweating already. "Tyler has created a monster..." Regardless, she began to mix the batter. Cornbread wasn't hard...her mother had made it all the time. Just...not with jalapenos.

"I'd recommend that, yeah," Violet grimaced. "Um...I wonder if Sol's little orb thing can cure mouth burns...I'll clean the fish while these bake..."

"Mike! Jake! You're missing the hack-off!" Azana called from the main room.

"O-ho!" Max beamed. "I'm gettin' somewhere...better keep up!"

Tyler didn't put up much resistance. Honestly, he had missed her. A lot. Even with the chemistry he shared with Zulma, it was hard to let go of this feeling he had around Stacy. If Zulma was like the wind, Stacy was fire. Passionate, convicted, and hard to extinguish. She'd have the lead for now...after all, she was still getting settled in.

"Don't invite them in here!" Elizabeth hissed quietly, finally finding a magazine to read and hide her face behind. "I'm already dreading the chili, if the kid is any indication."

"I think it might be you who needs to keep up, Max." Chris grinned as he had already located three different contractors who worked on the building in question.

"Ya mean those contractors? They only got piecemeal plans. You'd hafta find 'em all ta get a full scope," Max winked over her laptop screen. "I'm goin' for the mother lode! Go big or go home, that's what I say...oh, by the way, I never gotta show off what I found on the last search ya had me do. I still got it, if ya want it..."

"I wouldn't count on this guy having a unified set of plans, but kudos if you find it. Meanwhile, I'm just going to put together the puzzle."

Jake could never resist a good hack-off. He left the milk in the fridge as he entered the main room. He noted Elizabeth's presence, but said nothing. He wasn't the type to hold a grudge. He stood by and watched Chris and Max in their element. "Twenty on Chris," he said.

Mike decided to lend a hand in the kitchen, if only to make sure Nate's zeal for cooking didn't result in his three-alarm chili turning into a three-alarm inferno. "Hmm, chili, jalapeno cornbread...I think this meal calls for fish tacos. Where's the limes?" He washed his hands and tied on an apron, getting to work on the meal.

Max flinched a little on the bet on Chris. If Ty were here, he would've matched it, right...? Totes. I've got this. Superdude was a genius, yes. He solved cases, punched out bad guys, invented cool things. But this...this was all Max did. Practice made perfect.

"Hello," she purred, doubling her efforts. She had, by hook and by crook, tracked down the architect of the final house design. How many drafts did a guy need? Now she just had to extract the damn thing. No doubt he had it encrypted, and if it was for a guy named John Doe, an Underground would've done it. Not easy, but it probably wouldn't be quite as hard as TEKKER. Undergrounds always left their own back doors...

Even if it's been wiped, it's rarely complete...I can compile it from the scraps and what we have from the contractors...

"Check the crisper drawer, maybe...?" Violet answered, sliding the batter into the oven and turning her attention to the fish. She had mentioned she'd clean them, but her hand trembled the moment the filet knife met slippery fish.

"U-um...c-can we switch...?" She asked nervously to Mike, setting down the knife gently.

"Sure thing. I caught 'em. It's only fair that I clean 'em. Here. You work on the tortillas and the fixings. I'll take care of these guys."

"Find something good, Max?"

"Th-thank you," Violet murmured, quickly scooting away to pull out tortillas and such. She wanted to be helpful, but the thought of the--ugh, she couldn't do it. Limes were much easier.

"You'll see!" Max beamed, beginning to recognize the encryption work. This code...Slyfaux23? I think it is...! Working under that assumption, she peeled away the layers like an onion, looking for the prize in the middle.

Elizabeth let out a yawn, all the stress and sleep-deprivation starting to get to her. Well, that and the relative safety that seemed to permeate the Inn. She had sent a few e-mails to some promising job candidates and now just watched the two hack. Without much coding experience, it was almost like watching paint dry.

"Need some help with the decryption? We could get through it faster together. And then Elizabeth would have to eat our spiciest food."

"Then I hope you have a fire extinguisher handy because Nate is making his special chili."

Chris's eyes grew wider as he turned toward Jake. "Who let Nate into the kitchen? And who let him into Tyler's pepper stash?" He ran towards the kitchen, praying that Nate hadn't asked anyone to taste test it yet.

"Ah, ah, ah," Elizabeth smirked, overhearing his plan. "I said I would eat the spiciest dish Tyler could cook...and guess who just used up his pepper stash?"

"Aw, now I just feel like I'm cheatin'," Max huffed as Chris ran off, her decryption working against the familiar patterns.

"I-I'm sorry...!" Violet apologized quickly, the fixings set aside. "I was going to cook for him...but I couldn't understand what he wanted...and the peppers...but at least I'm making cornbread?"

"I'm sure he could get more," Sosol chuckled. "I'll have milk handy."

Honey mumbled something, she doesn't make any effort to get up though she does lift her head. Sitting with shoulders slumped, she pushes her cap off and blinks a few times. Mydriasis leaving only edges of blue to her eyes, she rubs her neck and smiles a bit at Kristen, "Sorry for the fuss."

Kiran tilted his head to the side, dreamily smiling as he continued to write. What a pleasant hum the world has today.
