"Bless your keen perception." smiled the musician, taking a celery stalk to nibble. "I barely saw you during combat, Zulma...were you fighting at the front. I'd taken up a cleric class...I've seen enough action, personally, so I thought I'd try patching up the aftermath."

When Jeff had lifted Mikila, he did it as if he was picking up something dirty and held her arm extended, away from his body. It was odd, especially that he was the one who initiated the action. His face had a strange smile. He found the little shrimp cute but he knew that she would be trouble, just like a strait cat would.
When she asked for a peanut butter jelly sandwich, he nodded, that at least he could do. "Be right back." he said then moved to the kitchen.
Zulma was grinning widely to see Jeff take care of Mikila. "Yes you may." she answered wisely at the kid's question.
She looked at Gren, with a more serious gaze and nodded with a tiny smile. "You know me, I could not stay idle. Amir too is a cleric. " she added with a nod towards the healer. "Is MacPere okay?" she added. It had been so long since she last saw him.

(yay! I got home. Scary when a fire alarm goes off in a library. Thankfully just a drill.)
Layla heard voices downstairs. One of them rather...annoying sounding. Full of himself? She heard voices she'd heard talking to others. She slowly left her room after a quick shower and changing her clothes. She slowly walked downstairs with just her stuffed tiger. She had a couple animals that she'd befriended that followed her from time to time. The green bunny thing jumped around following her. She walked over to the bar slowly. There was that little girl and then she saw other people. Sitting near but not overly close to the others. Looking up hearing Amir's name. "Hello." She said in a soft voice. Starting to warm up to people here.

Mikila had not even noticed the arm extension or the fact the older boy held her like she was dirty. She wasn't but she probably would need a true bath not a best as she can by climbing onto the sink and washing that way eventually. She was cleaning. She had giggled and had fun with her "flying" even if it had been a short trip. "Yay! Thank yous!" She said happily. Looking at Zulma. "Yay! Chips!" She said in sheer delight. Taking a handful, three chips and a partial one, and put them in front of her. Taking the partial chip and started chewing on it. She saw layla. "Hi shy lady! Hi!" She said. Waving energetically. She looked at Zulma. Had the lady asked her something? She couldn't remember. She'd been waiting for answer on chips. Which she now was chewing on slowly. If she was asked again she'd answer. Mommy said children wait to be noticed and spoken to before interrupting grown up talks.

Zulma spotted Layla and waved to her.
"Layla, Join us, we are having some drinks and food. Do you want something to drink?" she asked kindly, before turning to the tiny elf and adding. "How about you? Something to drink as well?"

Layla waved uncertainly at the little elf. She smiled a bit as she loved kids. She looked at Zulma. "Alright." She said softly. Moving closer to them and sat. She was not used to full blooded elves aside from Amir and Ari. She smiled shyly at Gren. "Hi." She said in a soft voice. Looking at the kid. What did she say her name was? Looking at Zulma and shook her head. "Not at the moment." She said with a more certain voice. She knew her. Plus Amir was friends with her.

Mikila looked at Zulma. "I'm Mikila." She said with a smile. Thinking. "Juice?" She asked hopefully. Smiling as she resumed eating her chips. She looked at Layla and the other guy. She thought these people nice. She still didn't know what she was going to do. She looked around. Where was that ghost who kept calling her stupid? Well that was okay. She didn't like the slightly older ghost boy overly much anyways. He seemed stuck on the word stupid.

"Mikila, I am Zulma." answered the Innkeeper as she poured a glass of apple juice for the elf. Jeff reappeared with a plate and a peanut butter jelly sandwich on top. "Here Shrimp." he grunted and put the plate in front of the little one.
He spotted Layla and greeted her without a smile. "Hey."
Zulma sighed. "Jeff, couldn't you make an effort?" she asked but was only answered by a dark look. The blond woman shook her head. "He is a nice kid." she said to Layla. "I am NOT a kid!" was the tall teen's answer.

Mikila looked at Zulma. Waving her hand cutely and watched her. "Yay! Apple juice! My favorite!!" She cheered in extreme gleeful delight. Sipping at it while holding it with both hands. Putting it down and smiled. "Thank you giant." She said. taking the sandwich and took a bite. Chewing it. "Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmm." She said in contentment. Chewing on it more and tilted her head. Watching in curiousity before eating her sandwich again.

Layla looked at Jeff. He seemed about her age. Or how old she appeared. Sixteen...he looked within that age range. He made her feel small even though she was over five feet. Smiling shyly and blushed. "Hi." Hiding behind her hair for a second. Looking up and smiled. "I can tell. He looks around my age." She said in a soft voice. Just letting the tiger sit in her lap. She blinked at their interaction. Smiling a bit more and giggled.

Jeff's lips curled into something of a smile as he saw Mikila's happiness. "You are welcome Shrimp." His eyes detailed Layla, she was cute in a way but she blushed and giggled a lot. His irises narrowed slightly when she spoke of his age, losing all softness. He lifted slightly his chin, looking her up. "You are still just a girl, but I am not a boy anymore." he stated, his ton was proud, almost arrogant.
"Jeff!" Zulma's ton was dry and sharp, nothing to do with the soft tone she was using with the girls. "Isn't it time for your training outside?" she asked, but it was not a question, it was an order.
The late adolescent stared at her, if look could kill, Zulma'd be dead but he turned away and immediately left the Inn, slamming the door behind him. "The door!" called Zulma behind him before sighed. She shook her head and looked at Layla. "I am sorry."

He grinned crookedly, nodding. "Not bad, eh? I didn't get too high in levels, but I never left anyone hanging."
He sipped his tea, nodding. "He is. I'm looking forward to his birthday, as much as he isn't. I'm going to treat him to something special."

Layla turned to normal tanned color when he narrowed his eyes. Tensing and looked away. Clutching her stuffed tiger. The bunny cultists got that look. Or worse. Especially when she wouldn't turn on Ari. She looked away. Trembling as she braced for a strike she didn't know if it would come or not. Her breathing eratic as she tried to control her powers even though she was nervous. She looked down. "I know but...being just a teen isn't a bad thing...I'm sorry." She said in a shaky whispered voice. Biting her lower lip. She trembled a bit. She looked down. "It was my own fault. I did something stupid...or wrong." She said sadly. Looking at her stuffed tiger. "At least he didn't hit me or shake me for saying something wrong. I didn't mean to. I don't get...why being a teen is a bad thing." She said sadly. Fire started rippling over her stuffed tiger. She eeked and patted it. "No. No. Bad fire." She muttered. Putting it out as she got control of her pyrokinetics.

When Zulma saw Layla's reaction, she immediately moved from the other side of the counter to come and take gently the young woman in her arms. "You did not say anything wrong." she murmured gently, her warm hand caressing the teen's hair. "Jeff wants to grow up too fast. He wants to be strong and he forgets that he can hurt people. He is a good kid, he is just...complex." she cradled her gently. She felt sorry for the young one and also pissed at Jeff. She would have to have a word with him.
