Kenos rose when the man entered and turned on Azana. He moved quickly and instinctively. His form going between Lin, (and that other woman who is mute if she was still near Lin), and moved into a martial artists stance. Ready to fight too if needed to protect Lin and the other (if she was still near) from this man who entered. Who up and stabbed someone for no reason? Even if Azana looked fine. His gaze surveying the situation without any expression. He stood in protectively in front of the Tea Master and the woman who'd been signing. (again if she is still there)

Spotting Kenos' stance, Malachai hurriedly waved a hand and shushed, shaking his head. Riling the Order was a bad move on a cosmic level.

Adam put a hand gently on the defending man's arm. "Relax, sir...he's someone important, looking for someone important, and probably for an important reason...he just doesn't have time to waste, is all, and that's why he's really gruff. Right?"

Lin blinked at the scene, not understanding anything but not feeling threatened either. She was puzzled to see Kenos put himself between the new comer and herself, as if he was protecting her.

Zulma looked at Malachai and Adam and the rest.
"Important or not, I have to admit that he is the first one who dares such a behavior in this Inn." said the innkeeper taking a couple more steps towards Law.
She looked at Law. "If I am understanding well, you just helped Azana and I am grateful for that. However, I want you to know that you are lucky. Had I been armed, I would have stroke first and asked question later, just like Sosol did." her voice was not threatening by any mean and even very polite but she was still shaken by what happened. A gesture towards Jeff motioned the teen to sheath back his weapon. The adolescent hesitated then put it away, remained standing up next to Violet.

She had been so used to the Inn being a place of safety and peace that the man's attack, even if it was well meant, just showed her how much she had let her guard down and had rely on others to protect this sanctuary.
She could not accept such a behavior in the walls of the inn. It was the first time since she reopened the Inn that someone was so bluntly physically attacked and she had witnessed it without being able to do anything about. She did not care if he was strong or not, she simply could not let him go without understanding that his behavior had broken the single golden rule of the place. If he was an ally, then he had to understand that he owed everyone an apology.
"Your explanation brings understanding but not forgiveness." she added calmly with a simple smile.

Not the first, Azana thought to herself with a mild shake of her head. She was thankful that others would have come to her defense...but the more disconcerting notion to her wasn't the sudden pseudo-assault but what Law had truly been attacking. A parasite, six years old, Chaotic origin...it sounded vaguely familiar. That would have been...

"...2007...the huge Von Helson incident," she murmured, barely above a whisper.

"...ah, yes, the Innkeeper," Law looked her over and nodded. "I did little but behave as you would. Strike first, explain later. You need not forgive me, but recognize that your attack, just like the Oracle's, would offer more harm than good."

That little bundle of Chaos had been staring him down long enough. Breadcrumbs, it said, but Law could not ignore his beady eyes anymore. "You would betray your own summoner...? I have no doubts that the Chaos Beast is hiding him from me." It was strangely right, though...a being like Charlotte would leave a trail, even if Orrin (willing as he likely was) would try and brush it away.

Violet blinked, looking to Jeff. "Hm...? Oh...!" She looked down at the page in shocked surprise, almost not realizing she had even been drawing.

"...I can't believe you slept through all that," Tyler muttered to Mikila, watching the aftermath with little ability to move. While helpful and kind of cute, the child was becoming a bit of a hindrance. As she began to fully wake, he guided her into a different seat.

"Honestly, watching you, listening to you, I'm more worried about Orrin than Az," he chimed in. "After all, why would Charlotte hide Orrin from you?"

That line of questioning was met with a glare from Law. "Aside from being antagonistic, Charlotte has clearly been informed of Orrin's crimes against the Order. Perhaps she wishes to undermine my authority."

"Or she loves him," Sosol folded his arms, liking him less and less in spite of his assistance. "Ever think of that?"

"Hmph...I have, and such an attraction could prove poisonous. We do not react well to one another. However, it would explain his recent turn. Either way, I must find him and rectify this aberration in the Order."

"Given how you 'rectified' that parasite, I'm not sure the folks around here would want you to leave so soon," Tyler scowled. He was already on Law's bad side. Why try to mince words now?

Kenos couldn't and probably wouldn't have explained why he jumped to defend Lin and the other girl. It was instinct. Maybe from all the scoldings from Lilliana about protection of others even outside her as priority one or what have you. Either way he had instinctively slipped into the super soldier. The spazzing (waving) man really had no effect on his demeanor. Merely studied to see if he too was a threat then dismissed as currently nonhostile. His gaze moved to watch this man called Law.

He tensed and instinctively the other hand moved with military percission to grab onto the wrist of the hand holding him lightly but firmly. "I apologize...training kicked in." He stated. Loosening his hold when he saw it was just Adam not some unknown foe. His eyes showed a teenage glitching for a moment in the super soldier as he said this sincere apology, before his gaze looked at law.

"Gruff is not a concept that I quite get. However, I do understand tactical searches or looking and offensive strike first look later is not how you go about hunting for someone. Be it a mark or a priority one. Strike first explain why later in a place such as this begates the purpose of searching. It starts unneeded fighting and chaos. Had his mark been here they'd have fled in the chaos he created by his offensive tactic to Ms. Azana."

He looked at Adam with a soldierish lethal expression.. "I don't care who he is. What rank he is out there doesn't mean anything. In here..." He pointed at Zulma. "She is top commander. In the inn she is the commander in chief of the Inn. Rank out there is nothing when she is Commander of the inn." He stated. Using military terms he knew to explain.

Yet Adams words did relax him some. He just didn't show any unneeded expression or words. Aside from the teenage glitching when he apologized to Adam for reflex. He took a relaxed posture at Adam's bidding. Falling silent and merely watched and waited. Zulma spoke and he stayed quiet. Merely observing.

Zippo chittered, a raptorous little giggle of whirrs and clicks, before rolling onto his back. What a strange man! He'd been talking about meatloaf and croutons, and he wanted to talk business.

"Piigrii dina saman mii! Ai waku hiiya." warbled the chibi, rolling slightly while holding his feet, staring up at the man with a darling expression. "Yuu wana fainda, wan ansaa, yuu pei mii~."

From beneath the couch, Fee sniffed the air twice before scampering across the floor, into Felix's room, immediately diving into a pocket.

Adam raised an eyebrow at Kenos' regard, frowning with a sigh. "...The world is bigger than this building, you know...and authority is not the same as power." he muttered.

Malachai gulped, tail trembling. There was little more that he wanted to do but escape the pressure of conflicting leaders, but this was important to watch.

Kenos looked at Adam. "Yes. I know. I am a super soldier. Priority One Lilliana's protection required travel around the world in keeping her safe while she did her own mission." He nodded again. Then looked at Zulma. "Yes. However, travel with Lilliana showed me that even if you have power there is things that could be deemed scarier and more deadly if angered. In most but not all cases."

He pointed a bit. "An angry woman is a far deadlier foe than even many of the mighty deities. Their strength when angry seems to get ten fold. Not only that a rational opponent rarely tends to make irrational and spontaneous actions. Whereas when an opponent spazzes their unpredictability becomes a deadly threat. Not only to oneself but in some cases their onw."

He stopped for a moment yet never truly gained anything but a military type personality...if that. "In battle I would rather face an opponent such as that man than combat an angry woman. Especially when bladed words are not the only weapon that they wield. In that sense Zulma and Azana would perhaps be more of a worry and threat level than the man whose threat level is already at its maximum. I learned from Lilliana when she got angry, and apparently I made that happen often, that the female threat levels grow tenfold or more." He said in a soft reply to adam.

"Besides...his power and authority neither apply to me nor do I care if he was the heavenly father himself. The people of this inn were understanding even of one such as I who is programmed to be a battle entity not a human. This has become my home and I believe a concept of humanity is that you are willing to defend such a place as home with your life. I may be wrong as more than definitions of human concepts and emotions are not something I was implanted with. Merely learned or observed."

Chris walked into a room that could only be described as tense. He paused and briefly debated going back to bed until everybody was in a more relaxed mood. Then he decided he had better stay in case things got dicey. Taking his usual seat at the bar, he pulled out his newspaper and began to read as he subtly eavesdropped on the conversation.

As Adam listened, his expression flattened to a rather surprising look of bored annoyance. "...This isn't a matter of sex either, you know. In all of your training, I have to wonder if you were ever 'programmed' to have a single whit of instinct or perception. It doesn't matter what your background is, what you were trained in or taught. Goodness knows that both Zulma and Azana could destroy us all. They could have ages ago and in a good mood. What you don't understand is that this is a diplomatic issue with a near-deity governing a worldly concept of law, one aspect of overarching Order, currently trying to find and lock horns with an embodiment of Chaos who's gone on the lam with one of his kind. This isn't our fight; he's not looking to take us up in arms, and for goodness' sakes, if you keep using your background as an excuse to speak like an a**, then I can't be held accountable for what mine would lead me to do to you."

Sneering, he folded his arms. "It doesn't matter how angry anyone is, sir. What matters is understanding the circumstances and acting accordingly. This is bigger than you or I, or most others in this building. The best thing we can do is stay out of it and let Zulma sort it, because she's too clever to swing a sword when it'd do her no good."

Honestly. Some folks had no sense of scope.

Malachai, on the other hand, saw an opportunity and sought it immediately, joining Chris at the bar. "...Where's Nate?" he smiled nervously, clearly shaken by the current affairs.

Mikila looked up at Tyler. "Sorry Anasi.I was sweepy. And it was quieter than when mommy and daddy went to headquarters of the Crimson Shades. So it wasn't that hard." She said with a giggle. Hugging him and then sat where he put her. Yawning a bit and rooted on Tyler and Giant and Knight Lady (Zulma) and Sol and Fighter Chef (Azana). She saw a new person and held his arms around his legs.

"You know that crazy bird, Mal. He's probably cleaning out the pantry...again." Chris glanced over the room, noting the usual mix of new faces and old. "So what's all the hubbub? Everybody seems jittery today. More so than usual, I mean."

He nodded to the pale newcomer, currently chatting with Zulma. "One of the highest beings has arrived...seems he wants to find Orrin and Charlotte and...w-well...exterminate them." murmured the demon, tail tucked close. "He's Law...Orrin was Karma, but he's Law, and very strict."

"Law usually is strict. He's also short-sighted and narrow-minded. If he weren't, I'd be out of a job. So what's the general consensus, then? Orrin and Charlotte are friends. Surely, we're not just handing them over."
PostPosted: Sat Nov 30, 2013 3:09 pm
"They split ages ago." sighed the demon. "He's asking Zippo about it...this could get interesting."

He leaned in, whispering "They're more than friends, Chris...way more. He said Orrin's an abb...abber...ition? Aberration. What's an aberration? I dunno. But it sounds bad."

"An aberration is bad. If Law sees Orrin as an aberration then he's in trouble and so is Char. I'm well aware of her feelings for Orrin. She'll protect him to the last. Perhaps I should have a word with Law before anybody gets in too deep."
