Lin nodded slowly at the demon.
"This is very true Malachai-san." she paused before adding in her usual cool voice. "It might surprise you to hear that from me, but children do have a sixth sense when it comes to danger. I believe that they feel the forces which truly drive people. You might be a strong and dangerous demon, you are not letting that nature of yours be the force which drives who you are." she spoke as clearly as she could.
When she became silent again she wondered if she made sense and she was also puzzled as since she had had that long discussion with Kenos, she seemed more inclined to open up herself to others.

Malachai chuckled. "They sure do...but then, I'm hardly a threat to her. Again, underripe." he smiled, sipping his tea. "We Incubi are only after affection, in the end."
Zippo eyed Nate as he slinked by, warbling in adorable threat.

Mikila had no idea what he wanted. He wanted something. She just didn't know what it was. She heard Mal speak. "Mal is not scariest thing Mikila has seen. Mommy and Daddy worked with the group that is elusive and just secretive. Crimson Shades. Some of the stuff and people I saw mommy and daddy encounter were much much scarier." She looked at Zippo. "What are you wanting?" She asked in confusion. Looking at Mal. "Mal has good evil demon soul. He could've eaten me when it was just me and him but he didn't. He became my friend." She looked at Zippo. What was he wanting to eat. "All I know is that you are hungwy. Not sure what you wanna eat Zippo." She said softly.

Lin realized that she had not fully understood Malachai when he spoke of the child. When she comprehended when he meant and then hearing the little Mikila speak to him so happily...she blushed. For the first time of her life, she had a full red flush across her cheeks and she stared down at the tea.
"I see..." she said in a whisper.

Nate met the chibi's gaze and froze as he recognized the hungry look in his eyes. Nate pulled a sandwich out of his feathers and held it out towards Zippo cautiously.

Sufficiently bribed, ZIppo pounced on the sandwich with a merry trill and promptly devoured it, the whole of it gone in a blink, the chibi quite chipper as he hugged Nate's leg. New friend!
Malachai smiled, patting Mikaila's head. "There's far worse in the world than me, that's right~! I wouldn't have eaten you, though...not a chance. And he said he wanted pineapple, but the sandwich works too."

Mikila hugged onto Mal's arm. Smiling up at him. She liked when she got affection. It was the little actions she'd learned from her mommy that showed affection you otherwise wouldn't get. She smiled happily. "Yeps." She giggled a bit. "I don't think I'd taste yummy anyways." She said with a happy giggle. She blinked a bit. "Well I couldn't give him either. I don't have food. The grownups have the food." She said with a giggle. "So painaperu is pineapple?" She said. She'd remember that. She liked pineapple too. "Zippo has good taste in fruit." She said finally.

Nate breathed another sigh of relief as his new sandwich buddy devoured the treat. Nate was actually impressed. He had never seen anyone who could wolf down a sandwich as fast as him.

Lin finished her cup in silence, then she cleaned the table on the tray and stood up, carrying the tray back to the bar where she cleaned cautiously the cup and teapot, while looking at the inn. Nate and Zippo were quite a pair and so were Malachai and Mikila. The place was full of life and happiness and it was hard imagining how Law was threatening all of that.

(Chibi social systems are rather complex that way.)
Nuzzling the bird, Zippo looked up, eyes shining with admiration. "YAMI SANDUWIICHU! Ai raikyu!"
"Uhh..." Mal hummed, frowning a bit. "Actually, he'll eat anything. I mean anything. Just don't give him chocolate; he's, ah...allergic. Still, look."
He dug a penny from his pocket and tossed it to the raptor, who leapt into the air and caught it in his mouth, impossibly swallowing the coin whole. Upon landing, he burped a tuft of green flame and sighed happily.
"Don't let him think you're food."

As she finished the cleaning, Lin observe the scene with a hint of amusement in her eyes, yet she took note of what was most important: don't let the chibis think you are food.

Nate was glad the chibi liked the sandwich more than gnawing on his leg so he invited him into the kitchen to prepare more sandwiches for themselves.

Warbling, Zippo scrambled up Nate's back and neck, sitting atop his head and singing a slightly shrill song of joy. Sandwiches, sandwiches
Malachai smiled, sipping his tea. "Thank you, Lin...you're so wonderful, taking care of us like this."

Lin almost smiled at Malachai and bowed. "You are most welcome Malachai-san."
The bar being clean, she put back the teapot and cups in their box and took it to be put away in the cabinet in the kitchen.
The bird and the tiny creature were already there and she bowed politely.
"Bird-san. Chibi-chan." she said as she trotted passed them to put the box cautiously away.
