[RP] The Inn of Peace - IoP (Open to all)

"You can just call me Malachai, if you like...I don't mind." he offered. "I'm no -san...what's -san mean?"

To be honest, Lin did not feel very comfortable with the bird and the chibi, so she quickly put away the box and trotted back to the main room, sitting back next to Malachai.

She blinked at his request.
"San does not mean anything. It just shows respect. I..." she searched for her words. "I am afraid I do not know you well enough to call you only by your name." she admitted, face expressionless but tone polite.

Nate politely nodded to the young woman as his feathers flew across the countertop making sandwiches to satisfy the appetites of himself and Zippo.

"Ohhh...so, it's like how we're not close friends yet." he nodded. "It's like calling people "Mister Whatsit" instead of "Steven" instead of "Steve." I understand! So you're calling me Mister Malachai?"

Zippo warbled, leaping and catching scraps as they flew.  

[Zulma san]

Lin had a nod. "Yes, this is like calling you Mister Malachai." Even though she had used the Mister in front, he could tell that using his name by itself was strange to the Asian woman.
"I hope this is not a bother." she apologized.

"Oh, heck no! It's pretty nice, actually...very respectful. I feel special!" he reassured, smiling brightly. "It's like you're saying you respect me and our relationship all at once!"

Nate stacked up the ingredients and turned to the fridge in search of acceptable condiments and cheeses. He wasn't sure what Zippo would like so he grabbed a little bit of everything.

Although Lin did not smile or move any muscle of her face, when she looked at Malachai again, she seemed both grateful and touched.
She bowed.
"I am very happy you understand Malachai-san."

"Moa karotsu! Wafus!" insisted the chibi, catching the relish. "Foatii hamubagaasu!"

"Sure! How can anyone not? It's really clear." grinned the demon, tail swaying.  

[Zulma san]

Lin looked at the man but did not say anything. Some were not as understanding as he was, arguing that if she wished to live in a country which was not hers, she had to adapt to the local customs. Her features softened. It was probably because the Inn was filled with people like Malachai that she felt comfortable here despite the usual chaos of the place compared to the calm and silence of the tea house where she was raised.

Her eyes caught the movement of his tail and she watched it more attentively.
"Can you move your tail as you wish?" she asked almost boldly.

Nate fired up the skillet after hearing Zippo request hamburgers. He went back to the fridge and grabbed some quality beef and began making patties with his special marinade.

"My tail? Oh, yeah!" he grinned, giving the spade a wave in greeting. "It's got a mind of its own, but sure I can control it. Why?"

Zippo warbled, chittering. Food was coming in his favor!

Lin had to admit that the tail was exercising a certain fascination on her. Tail meant animal but Malachai was a very civilized man which made the tail a very odd attribute for the Asian woman.
"Well this is the first time I see one on a human, so I have to admit some curiosity." she said in a cool tone. She did not want to appear disrespectful.

That brought a genuine laugh out of Malachai. "Human? I'm no human, Miss Lin! I'm a demon, see?" he grinned, pointing to his stubby pointed horns. "The only human around here with a tail is Mr MacPere."

Kenos finished his tea and smiled...in his head. He didn't here though a twitching on his lips showed he tried. He then investigated his clothing. "Lin-san? Do you know where I can get fabric and sewing materials? I need to repair these clothes and possibly make some others. Or I will not have anything to wear. They will not handle too many more washing with burn holes." He said without any expression or emotion outside the militarlistic matter of fact way he just said it.
