"Impeccable choice," he answered, taking it and strolling to the dancefloor. This would be a lovely evening!

"Like I'd deny you the opportunity," Nirro smirked, determined to show this new side of Charlotte a good time. She always seemed to know him so well!

"This should be interesting," Stella thought aloud. She had never shadow jumped...at least, not like he had suggested. Portals were one thing; this was extradimensional travel. Who better to see it with than a self-proclaimed expert? She took his arm as though going out for an evening stroll, and everything faded to black as she slipped into shadow with Amir.

Sosol raised an eyebrow at Stella's strange departure but made quick work of wrapping the gift. Psychokinesis did have its perks, and not too much longer, Azana strolled down the stairs. "Alright...you ready...?"

"Are you?" She retorted with a smile. "Let's go."

Amir looked at her. When she linked arms he looked mildly surprised and for a moment smiled. "Your shadow blended well with mine. That will make it so that its like walking through shower water...won't fell more than water over skin in a sense." He said. Leading her into the shadows which rose up and around them. Their own shadows melding into them as the shadows began to cover and fold around them then into a realm of darkness they would go. Where he'd removed the eye piece and mask showing off his eyes.

(exit and according to TimeKeys...I post in Around The Inn so posting there)

Charlotte grinned, glad she'd chosen a shorter skirt than ballrooms usually allowed, as the pace of the music allowed for faster steps with far less radius.

As the chibis played, the black-haired girl made ferrety grunt, dancing as led and holding to Nirro's forearms with both hands, violet eye peeking through lank hair. Her smile had a twist like a crooked pin, but the genuine glee in it could not be denied. She'd never danced before, and her steps were all wrong, but entirely on beat.

Marouse waved to Azana and Sosol, grinning, glad that his work was done, though he held fair interest in Bill and Tam's discussion as well. However, this was interrupted by a blur of black, rainbow and thudding trance beats as it whisked through the door.

Victoria glanced up from her meager meal to see the streak of rainbow and trance beats thud out the door. "Was that--no...then, who...?" She looked perplexed for a moment before taking a long sip of water. There was enough on her plate...how was she supposed to get her home and business restored? And when would she get around to making Honey that gift of gratitude?

"So, why the ballroom...?" Orrin asked, out of pure curiosity and slightly out of breath as he kept up with Charlotte's energetic swing. "It seems a little unlike you, but please don't take that as a complaint."

Meanwhile, Nirro's 'steps' were more avoiding the rhythmic beats of his partner. And it. was. perfect. Who needed stupid dances, anyway, as long as they had rhythm?

A pair of horns peeked over the edge of the table, followed by hopeful garnet eyes. "Hi."

"There's more to me than flowers and bells and whistles...I quite liked the rococo period, for example."
she trilled. pausing to wipe her forehead. "And Vienna at its height of class. The world's so big and beautiful...I can't pick just one style, my darling!"

Hopping up at an upswing, the shadow wrapped her arm about Nirro and kissed his cheek with a fireplace's pop.

"Hm...?" Victoria mumbled quizzically, mouth full as the horns peeked over the table's edge. She swallowed hard just before the rest popped up, tan skin and dark eyes keeping the horns company. Good thing, too, or she would've choked. She froze slightly, the butter knife in hand suddenly shifting strangely sharp before relaxing back to its previous form.

"H-Hello, there..." she answered cautiously. "You startled me."

Orrin looked around as she spoke, now noticing the different periods of architecture in the previous mundane-looking ballroom. They meshed...surprisingly well. If he wasn't specifically looking for the things she mentioned, he probably would've missed it. "...I see that. And I would never change it."

Nirro took an arm around her waist and spun her into a dip, responding to the kiss in kind. "Best dance ever, gorgeous." He helped her back up, making sure her unsteady, marionette gait wasn't ready to fall. "You know how to throw a party!"

"Sorry about that...I thought you saw me coming over." said the demon, setting his chin on the table. "Whatcha eatin'?"

"Oh honey...that's my job." she winked, a bottle of water (apparently from the sweetest spring in Saratoga) popping up beside him. "You don't have to worry about changing a thing!"

A dolphin's cry giggle was her reply her smile a crooked pin in her cheek. Was he always so dashing, or had a mood merely taken him?

"Some variety of fish," Victoria answered. "Lightly seasoned. I can't finish it myself...would you like the rest?" She hadn't had much appetite lately, not since Max had begun to pore over her contract. She was worried, remorseful...she felt awful about the whole situation. Even if her contract was nulled somehow, that didn't reverse the damage already done. It just gave her her life back.

"I'm not worried, not anymore," Orrin opened it up and took a sip. "Law no longer has a hold over me, and I am no longer preserving the Order, so no more allergies. I have to admit, though...I hope Sam and I can still be friends."

Nirro smiled, enjoying the unpredictability and ease of understanding her choices of noises. A mood had indeed taken him...it was called freedom, and it wasn't leaving any time soon.

"Yeah."

Malachai crawled into the chair and crouched gargoyle-wise, sliding the plate over to himself. He nibbled at it, picking at the fish with his fingers, apparently uncaring of his table manners at the moment.

"Thanks! Who're you?"

He wiped her brow with a checkered hankie. "I doubt she'll let a little thing like an intrinsic paradigm shift get between you and her. I mean, she didn't even mind me being about, and you're still you, just free of some ties. Law, though...I think he's going to have to take a while to accept that someone else is on his level now. He and I have been at it for ages...I dunno how he'll take to a new player, especially one that balances us all out."

The girl pointed to the window, making the reedy call of a cicada. Outside! Let's go outside!

"My name is Victoria Wesley," she answered with a polite nod, offering a napkin to the horned one, "and you're welcome. I'd hate to see it go to waste." She watched him, part fascinated, part disgusted by the display. And yet, it was refreshing, a far removal from the decorum typically required of a distributor of fine jewelry or some billionaire's arm candy and employee of the month.

"You dress well to have such table manners," she commented with a light chuckle. "What manner of devil are you?"

"Perhaps that's why I changed," he thought aloud, sipping on the water and offering some to her. "You have been at it for ages, but the world has changed considerably in that time with little change in the players at hand. It may be the start of a new age for all of us...Law will hate it, surely, but perhaps he will at least understand."

"You wanna blow this Popsicle stand already?" Nirro asked, mischievous glance back at their other halves for a moment before he nodded eagerly. "Yeah...this ballroom's gettin' stuffy. There's too much fun in the two of us to keep to ourselves. C'mon; I know where they keep the moped."

"Incubus!" he smiled, swallowing a mouthful of fish and licking his lips. "I know I'm supposed to use a fork and knife, but this smells too good not to go at up front. I'm Malachai!'

He offered a hand: the not-fishy one. "What about you? What kind of human are you?"

She nodded, taking a sip. It'd always been like that, as far as she could tell. "But isn't that the most exciting part? Like when the chains go slack at the top of the swings and your heart leaps."

She nodded, chittering giddily as a cricket. Out! She wanted to go out!

"Just don't get arrested!"

"A pleasure," she answered cordially, shaking his hand politely. It was a bit of a surprise to meet an incubus in this context...not quite what she had in her imagination for the picture of an incubus. He returned the question to her, and she had to give it a moment's thought. Humans did come in kinds, she supposed, just like demons did.

"...an artisan," she said at last, wondering if she needed to use antiquated ideas around him. Who knew how old he was? "I make jewelry...well, I did, until a few months ago."

Orrin gave it a moment's thought and then burst out laughing, clutching his sides once they began to hurt. It was entirely not the point, but now he couldn't shake the image of Law on a child's playground swing! Unfortunately, he couldn't really catch his breath enough to explain it to her...hopefully she'd understand.

"Killjoy," Nirro teased, sticking out his tongue at Charlotte as he led the shadow off. "It's alright, sweetie," he comforted her, giving her a light side-squeeze as they departed. "We just can't get caught."

Malachai leaned in and kissed her knuckles, lips briefly parted as she took a few sniffs. Iron. Lots of iron and copper. She was black pudding and pasta with white sauce. "Metal...you did the really shiny coins they had here, huh?"

Charlotte grinned, giggling, both at Orrin's laughter, so bright and honest, and Nirro's completely correct interpretation of her words. They'd do fine. "Caroline's only been alive for 20 minutes, dear...show her a good time."

Caroline, the dark-haired girl, held onto Nirro's arm. This living thing was pretty nice!
PostPosted: Mon Apr 07, 2014 7:26 pm
Victoria flushed lightly, thrown a little off guard by how quickly he went from eating fish with his fingers to charmingly kissing her hand. "Hm? Oh, your senses are very acute!" She answered with an astounded nod, pulling her hand away gently. "Those coins were a sort of message in a bottle...I had no idea that they would lead to a place such as this, and people who would know me. I'm not the most public of figures."

Orrin panted for breath, wiping a tear away from his eye and taking a seat nearby. "Oh...oh, that one will last me a while..." His breath steadied for a moment before gasping. "Charlotte...your memory photos...do they work on any mental image? I'd love to show it to you, and to Sam..."

Nirro pulled a helmet out of his own pocket, handing it back to Caroline. "See if that fits...no matter the trouble, I plan on getting us both back alive." He put one on himself, lowering the visor so as not to terrify drivers...well, not without meaning to. If they could see him coming, that ruined the surprise!

He grinned, tapping his nose. "I've got a good sense of smell...so, are you glad they found you? You seem kinda gloomy."

"Yes, I'd think so...you can do the trick now?" she smiled, intrigued. "Or shall I just pull from you?"

She put hers on backward, humming like a heating toaster.
