"...you're right," Sosol nodded his head as he turned the veggies. In his momentary distraction, they threatened to burn on one side. "Sorry...saying something like that's silly, all things considered. To be honest...Kristen doesn't mention them at all. Ever. I think I saw them once, in a vision...but that's it."

I suppose that's why the whole thing with Marilyn hit her so hard...

"Kind of?" Azana answered sheepishly, realizing that Sariel didn't have the same cultural background. Such phrases were lost on her. "It does mean he acted classy...that he was polite, friendly, and just generally nice to be around."

"What, her parents?" he hummed. Come to think of it, he'd never given them much thought...where were they?

"Oh I see," Sariel said, smiling, "but wouldn't that mean he was gentlemanly? Or can one not be both?" She was having trouble thinking of this Aravilui in anything but a tux and tophat now, and it was a bit distracting from the conversation. She stayed on focus though, but still had a silly grin on her face like someone had said a joke.

"They never came to visit," Sosol explained. "It's not something I've thought about often, but it baffles me any time I do. Kristen was the youngest of us, and she came in very young." The sizzle subsided as he slid the contents onto a plate.

"Yeah, we can agree to that one. 'Gentlemanly'. Class act is just shorter." Azana couldn't help but grin at Sariel. There was an inside joke she was missing, but that didn't stop the giddy joy from coming through loud and clear.

Kristen pushed open the door, walking into the Inn. She pulled off her hat and gloves, stuffing them into the pocket of her light jacket. "Evening," she greeted them, looking to the fireplace. "...I figured you'd have one lit this time of year."

With a playful smirk, her eyes narrowed, and the fireplace leaped into life and light.

"I can only hope they had the best intentions." he hummed, flipping the steaks one last time and testing the firmness. "Done!"

"As can I," Sosol answered, producing the trio of plates. "I hope everyone's alright with these...I don't think we have any allergies."

Azana looked over to the fireplace, then to Kristen, and back again. Was she so wrapped up with Sariel that she didn't hear the incantation...? "Hey, Kris! What brings you here tonight?"

"Brother summoned me...and bribed me with promises of a good meal," she answered, giggling a little at Azana's puzzlement. She'd give them the good news soon.

"No, I don't think so...and if not, well, we'll just make something else."

Nobody had said, anyhow, if they didn't, and elves were another kettle of fish entirely.

Plating the food, he grinned, took up his own and a handful of cutlery, and held open the door for Sosol.

Sosol passed through with a nod of gratitude. While it was entirely unnecessary...the courtesy was heavily appreciate. "Dinner is served, ladies and gentlemen!"

"Well, let's see what you've got, Gren," Azana teased, happy that Sariel wouldn't have to feel obligated to make hers go cold. Manners were one thing, but cold dinner ranked pretty close to a sin in her book.

"Hi, brother," Kristen greeted him with a smile before taking a seat. Clearly, dining would come first, and conversation second. It was difficult to keep the joyful news from bubbling forth, but didn't everyone here like surprises?

Upstairs, a bright flash heralded Tyler's return. He never would reappear in the room itself, both due to his usual security mechanisms and the fact that he never wanted to have those exact coordinates saved on his device. "Remy?" He called with a knock. "I'm back."

"I have to admit, I'm starving!" the familiar warm voice came from the front door.
Zulma was dusting off her coat with a bright smile upon her features. That place always brought the best out of her. She felt home here.
She dropped her bag on the ground and quickly walked across the room to embrace Az who was closest to her.
"It is so good to see you!!" she exclaimed.

Jeff followed in her footstep and extended his hand to shake Sosol's.
"Hey." he greeted the bartender.

Azana's ears perked up at a familar voice, turning just in time to receive a tight hug from a familiar blonde innkeeper. "Zulma...!" She beamed, entirely surprised and delighted. "How've you been?"

"Welcome back," he answered, shaking the hand for a moment before pulling him into a short hug. Sosol chuckled, looking back to Gren. "Looks like we've got a bit more to do yet...can't let them stay hungry."

Kristen smiled at the duo...so much good news today! She needed to come here more often...but first, the meal. Before it grew cold, not that it mattered much in her case.

Gren very nearly dropped his plate at the sound of her voice. Turning with a gasp, his face broke into a dazzling smile.

"No, Sol, she can have mine." he breathed in a laugh, setting it down. "Welcome home, you two."

Remy, upstairs, had gathered a fairly substantial array of basic parts necessary. Disabling the traps, he opened the door. "Welcome back."

"I've been well." she admitted, keeping Az a few more second against her before releasing her.
"You look good. How are You doing?" she asked her friend. She seemed as happy as the brunette.

She grinned when she heard Gren and trotted to him to hug him as well. "Hmmm I've missed you."

Surprisingly, Jeff didn't grunt but hugged Sosol back. The young man seemed actually genuinely happy to see Sosol.
"It's good to be home." he admitted, eyes scanning the room.

"Mmmm, I've missed you too!" he chuckled, giving the same hug he always had. "You've got to take me on one of these adventures someday; I get lonely here without you. Care for a steak?"
PostPosted: Wed Dec 10, 2014 11:13 am
Azana let the two catch up for a moment before answering the question. Besides, they were apparently having a meal together, anyway. Plenty of time to catch up.

Sosol watched him look about and gave a knowing smile. "She's still upstairs," he whispered casually. "Graduated art school in August."

Kristen was unaware of how hungry she actually was, voraciously taking to the steak and vegetables while others continued to converse. It wasn't incredibly polite, but physical needs came first.

"Thanks," Tyler nodded, strolling past him with a very full bag and an old motorcycle helmet. "I really wish you could come along...but that whole invitation thing you have doesn't work well for trespassing."

Jeff smiled at the man.
"Thank you Sosol." He was still a little stiff and proud but he seemed to have lost his former grumpiness.
He waved to the rest of the people and quickly walked up the stairs. Seconds later, he was taking a deep breath and knocking at Violet's door.

Zulma nodded vigorously.
"It sounds delicious but only if you eat half, I wouldn't want you to starve because of me!"

She walked to Sosol and gave him too a tight hug. "He's been talking about nothing but her since I've announced we were coming back." she whispered.
Moving back to the table, she patted Kristen's shoulders.
"I think we should all follow your example." she chuckled, sitting between Gren and Az.
"How are you all doing?" she asked her friends.
