"True," Tyler nodded as he began typing again, mind working as he went. "Since you're getting a break...why don't you have a chat with Max? I'm sure she'd want to hear about what we're up to. Hell, she'll probably want to decorate the damn thing." He let out a light yawn, betraying fatigue at the multiple sleepless nights. He hadn't begun to hallucinate yet, so he still had a bit left in him.

"Hrm...nothing major. I know Victoria went back to her home and work. Max was in the hospital for a little bit, but you can see she's fine now. Zulma's been back more frequently...and Az and I were inducted as Innkeepers." He hovered the key around as it trailed a chain behind it.

"Other than that, it's business as usual."

"Uh-huh? Thanks. I'll see you then." Azana hung up her phone, jotting down a couple quick notes on the folder. She relished a good mystery...hopefully one that involved some action, too. She didn't want to get too rusty due to having a cushy job here at the Inn.

"Hmm...I wonder how long I should mix this for...?" Kristen wondered aloud, eyes watering at the scent of dangerous levels of spice. "Probably until I don't smell it anymore..."

"All right. Want some personal space while working? Need me about?"

Frankly, he'd rather talk to her in person, but two heads were better than one on this project...unless, of course, he said some other clever idea and changed the game all over again.

"Oh my." said Adam, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "That's an awful lot, and I'd say at least some of that's major, Sosol! You and Azana had a major accomplishment, Max went to the hospital...I'm glad she's all right, but what happened to her?"

"Unless you have a hidden talent for coding, I don't particularly need the assistance," Tyler answered without looking away. After completing a line, he leaned back to look to Remy.

"As much as I like having a skilled partner in this, you'll just get bored at this point."

"I was playin' hero," Max explained, overhearing her name while chilling out near Zulma. "Got in a tight spot, took a stimulant, had a bad reaction. No biggie." She was clearly downplaying it, and the description was deliberately vague.

"We were worried, regardless," Sosol reminded her. "And thank you, Adam. I am honored to be here officially."

"...I guess that's it...?" Kristen questioned herself, getting ready to cool the confections. She heard a lot of voices outside...were they daring enough to try her first attempt? Would she dare inflict that on them?

Jeff had silently thanked Sosol for the glass of water, then with a nod towards the bartender, he had disappeared up the stairs.

Zulma was now sitting at the bar, quietly listening to Sosol and Adam. She too needed to be brought up to speed regarding what had happened since she left.
Hearing that Max had been at the hospital, the blonde turned to look at her with a slightly raised eyebrow. She grinned. She understood too well her behavior, hell she would probably react the same way if she ended up at the hospital for some reason.
"I'm glad you are back with us." Zulma said with a true smile towards Max.

Remy nodded, understanding. "I'll be back up around lunchtime with sandwiches, then. Can't have you starving over codes, you know."

Hopping up, he grinned and strolled out, meandering downstairs to investigate the hubbub.

Adam frowned, waving a finger. "Playing the hero's good, but you mustn't do anything that dangerous. What would we do without you?"

"Wouldn't be the first time," Tyler joked with a halfhearted shrug, turning back to the screen and typing the next few lines. This was one of the duller portions of creating, but incredibly necessary. He had to keep focus; one wrong command, and he'd have to comb the whole thing over.

Sosol waved Jeff off with an understanding smile before catching a faint whiff. "...hm...Kristen's almost done, it seems."

Azana was already making her way to her broom, eager to get moving on the case. She needed to see this footage before they struck again.

Max gave a sheepish grin before Adam asked her his question. "Carry on as always," she answered without hesitation. After a moment's pause, she added, "well, with a couple fewer rainbows..."

Kristen drummed her nails on her arm, staring intently at the oven as it cooked. She dared not walk away, fearful that she'd burn her very first attempts before even having a chance to try them out.

"Fewer rainbows, sure, but I'd rather not see a world like that." he grinned, squinting an eye, admonition over with.

"Heeeeey~." said Remy, ambling down into the main room. "What smells like cayenne and strawberries? Ice cream thing on the fritz?"

"It's not the drinkamajig!" Kristen called from the kitchen in a short huff. She emerged with a pan of piping hot treats which reeked of sweet spice.

I don't remember mine being this pungent... "I thought I'd try a recipe..."

Sosol quirked an eyebrow behind his shades, suddenly getting a vague sense of apprehension. "Spicy...strawberry...roll?" He described it by looks.

"Exactly! So, who wants one?" She asked, thinly masking her fear that she had messed up the recipe somehow.

"Erm...not sure I could handle that much spice," Max grimaced, her eyes watering just from the scent of them. "Not without a milk chaser, at least..."

"Mm...?" A curious hum came from the stairs, followed closely by a sleepy smile and salt-and-pepper hair. "What is that delightful aroma...?"

Remy raised a hand, grinning. "I will~!" He couldn't taste it, but who cared about that?

Adam looked a bit sheepish. "They seem a bit strong for my stomach." he admitted, having an infamously fussy digestive system.

Fee peeked out from his fort beneath a couch. "AIWANIT"

"Spicy strawberry rolls, apparently," Sosol answered Orrin, gesturing to the tray. "Go for it."

"Don't mind if I do," Orrin grinned, strolling over and patting Kristen on the head. He produced a pair of tongs from his pocket. "May be a little hot to handle immediately, right?"

"Thanks," Kristen giggled sheepishly, flushing both from embarrassment and the relative heat of the kitchen. She could handle it easily, but it still tinged her skin a bit. "So, step right up! Orrin's serving, it seems."

Max was about to point out the obvious to Remy, but she opted not to. This was good for the fire oracle's ego, after all. I don't think she got it right, though...it reeks of capsaicin...

Fee pounced onto a roll and devoured it promptly, kicking it as he did so.

Remy grinned, enjoying a roll with a smile. "Nice, niiice. I'm loving the texture here, Krys, I really am. Smooth and creamy, but chewy and moist where it oughta be."

The armoured figure with glowing eyes was no stranger to the Inn. He barely said a word, but every few months he would drop in order a drink and watch the life around him unfold. Life was an anathema to him, but Kai had been so full of zest before he died that he never lost that appreciation for it.
Kai walked with heavy footfalls to the bar trailing the pungent smell of grave dirt behind him. Motes of graveyard earth shook loose from his clothes with every step. Once he had taken his seat at the end of the bar, he ordered an ale. He knew they offered more customary fair for creatures of his ilk, but he wanted to attract less attention today. With ale in hand, Kai sat back and let the other patrons entertain his death heightened senses.

"Of course," Sosol acknowledged with a grin, always eager for a new face. He popped a cap quickly, setting down the chilled bottle with pride.

"Here's your--" He froze, caught for a moment in the eerily glowing eyes of the patron. In an instant, a momentary flash of recognition, followed by a barely-contained joyful grin. "Ale, sir."

"Thank you!" Kristen smiled, lightly flush with sheepish pride. Who was she to doubt their tastes...?

Orrin picked one up, looking it over and giving a gentle squeeze of the chewy bite before popping it in. His eyes widened lightly, an instant of heat hitting his cheeks. "Well...!" He smiled, mellowing as he chewed the strawberry roll. "It certainly packs a punch..."

Max flinched at the smell of sheer spice. Even if it was supposed to extinguish immediately...that flash would have her sweating! Still...she was curious...

"Oi," she called to the newcomer, someone calm and (by personal experience having a vampire boyfriend) likely already dead. "Wanna give it a shot? Super spicy with a strawberry chaser."

"AIRAIKIIT!" cheered Fee, attacking another, apparently immune to spice.

"It is good." Remy agreed. "A bit heavy on the cayenne, but that might just be my tastes, you know?" Even if his taste buds had failed him, his nose certainly hadn't.

"Been a while..." Kai said to the man behind the bar. The bar tender seemed to recognize Kai, or at least Kai liked to imagine he did. Apparently, Kai came often enough to be familiar with at least some of the constant faces around here.
The revelation was brief and quickly quelled by the black cloud of disparaging thoughts that hung about Kai as heavily as the stench of death. The glow of his sunken eyes dimmed slightly, an expression that passed for a grimace on the rigor stiffened mask that was Kai's visible face.
When someone called out, Kai looked about to see he was being called and offered some sort of confectionary. Rather than explain how death had dulled his taste for anything but flesh and blood, Kai wandered over to where the treats were being shared and nodded his thanks as he took one. He took a bite of the spicy morsal. After a moment of chewing, the faint tingling of hot spicy food set off what was left of his taste buds. He nodded again, this time in approval. After a moment of standing beside the one who called him over in the awkward fashion of a creature long dead and social distant, Kai cocked his head to the side.
"I will have to pay my compliments to the chef. What other interesting going ons are there to tantalize the senses?" Kai asked, fishing for gossip or tall tales that could distract him from the darkness of the unlife he lived. Perhaps, if he watched and listened long enough, he could pretend like there was no pain. Perhaps he could imagine that what he had lost could be found again....
