I know what you mean about the conversation slowing down. I am starting to feel like I don't have any interesting things to say. sweatdrop And I have been kind of busy so I haven't had time to really do anything like getting on Gaia. Real life can be a pain sometimes. I suddenly have this strange craving to watch Alfred Hitchcock films. confused I really can't believe that they let me around children sometimes. blaugh

The Olympics... I haven't really watched much of it, but I did catch the swimming and gymnastics. I have a little problem with the swimming. The guys were in long skin tight pants things! What happened to the tight revealing speedos? crying

Oh man, I'm soooo bummed! I totally missed the opening ceremony for the olympics and it looked SOOOOOOOO cool! To make matters worse, my hubby has looked and can't seem to find a video of it on the internet!

As far as the rest of the olympics go, I've been staying up watching them late into the night for the past few days.
China is KILLING us on the diving comps. Not to mention I don't understand this new scoring system, and I don't like it. One of our girls on the gymnastics team had this flawless routine on the bars last night, and didn't even get a 17! 16.9 sure, but still. I don't understand how the judges could have found anything to mark her down for.
I do recall there being one person interviewed during the half time thing who blatantly accused the judges of bias, which I was surprised about.

And have you all heard that the ceremony's opening fireworks were CGed? And the little girl who sang the anthem was lip-syncing, because the girl who actually sang the song wasn't deemed "cute enough"?! I mean wow... How sad is that?

I have been kind of bummed watching the Olympics also. sad I agree with Mira about the scoring system being crazy. Apparently, they get difficulty points from the qualifying junk. It is sad to see a flawless performance with a lower score. I also have a complaint about the amount of coverage that the other countries get. I would like to see the scores for ALL of the countries. It seems like only the US and China get any real coverage on TV. xp

On the topic of the Olympics, I'm really disappointed too. I was thinking about the coverage as well, and the only thing I could decide on was that the other countries must be covering their own teams, and we don't get a chance to get their feedback on what's going on, which is unfortunate, but I guess I wouldn't probably stay up until 3am to catch their broadcasts either. rofl

I'm just really pissed that China subverted their own amazing opening ceremony by doing such idiotic and ridiculous things. They had an opportunity to leave a mark on the minds of people all around the world, and now all people are talking about is the damned lip syncing and CG effects. Not to mention their female gymnasts look like ten-year-olds! eek There is no way some of those girls are 15 going on 16.

I wonder where the judges actually come from anyways? I must admit I haven't actually cared enough to keep up with the Olympics and I missed most of the opening ceremony. It's a sad thing to hear that the judges are biased though...

I know what you mean. Several of those girls are tiny. Perhaps they really are 15 or 16 but very petite. I know a few people like that. (Not to mention that teenagers look really young to me now...) sweatdrop
