nothing wrong with random, persay.. it's just that the best looking avis follow a color scheme or at least a theme.

edit:
maybe a better answer would be the avatars that tend to stand out the most are the ones that are well-matched in color. I guess a strong color scheme draws the eye more effectively than a rainbow assortment.. especially since there are a ton of avis out there that are just made up of random colors.

the avi also stands out if it conveys a certain idea or image. if the avi follows a theme in such a way that shows careful thought and restraint, then it is also more memorable than the 95% of random, cluttered avis on gaia.
