Not officially recognised. It's still apart of Australia, and unless the government says otherwise, it's not a country seperate. There are alot more requirements to being an independent country than just currency and saying so. neutral

Anyway, if he did claim that territory, what's to stop the Australian government coming in there with a single tank and destroying the place?
