Alex did find it to be a little amusing that Sofia wouldn't look at him as she went from the closet to the kitchen. It was as if she was embarrassed or felt like she had done something wrong. That was certainly not the case, and Alex thought that the outfit that she had chosen to wear was very nice and not the least bit slutty or overdone. It probably will take him a while to get used to her not wearing glasses. Alex went out to the kitchen as soon as he had finished his morning routine. In an attempt to be helpful, he asked, "Is there anything that you would like me to do?"

"Oh no that's okay," She replied with a smile while heading over to the living room after she set the table and the food down. She started to pack a couple things for Bo since she'd be dropping him off at Alex's parents house. She was sure to put his medicine in the bag and had a note with detailed descriptions as to how much he should be given and how to give it to him so he doesn't know it's medicine. After that she went into the bedroom to get Bo who was already awake. He had to walk on three legs which he was not used to but he managed a bit.

Today might have been a somewhat bearable day however as usual she tended to have pretty bad luck. Walking back into the kitchen she sat down to eat but Bo ended up trying to get on the table and bumped it enough so that her cup of grape juice fell and spilled all over her shirt dress. Of course she scolded him but got him his food since he was obviously hungry. However the only decent clothing she found was now ruined with a big purple stain. With a sigh she cleaned some of the spill before wandering back to the room to change again.

It took her a while but she had to hurry or they'd be late since she also had to pick up Debra after dropping Bo off. Putting on what she could 'live with' she hurried out and put the things Bo needed into the trunk then helped him in the back. Once everyone was in she drove off to his parents house forgetting how they rarely saw her dressed or looking this way. The fact that she was in a hurry probably stopped them from wondering or asking.

With Bo taken care of she went and picked up Debra and drove to school.

As Debra got into the car, she looked at Sofia and exclaimed, "Wow! That's a new look for you!" She stopped just short of stating if it was an improvement or not, and went on to say, "I'm guessing that your new clothes have something to do with your mother's visit last night. It must not have been as bad as you had expected."

Well at least Debra didn't have a negative reaction to this. Like in The Princess Diaries when the protagonist had changed appearance (in this case clothing), her friend had the negative effect. Maybe it wouldn't be as bad as she though so long as she ignored everyone else and only cared what her friends thought. "Well it was better than her yelling, I'll wait about a month for her to forget all about this then I can slowly go back to the way I dress...most importantly getting new glasses."

With Debra inside she drove off to school and the closer she got there the more nervous she became. Once parked she took a deep breath and stepped out. Wearing sandals felt weird but she'd get used to them by the end of the school day. She made sure to walk between Debra and Alex in hopes that she could somewhat hide behind them. Some people did a double take only because they didn't know...or recognize who she is.

It was pretty clear that Sofia was self-conscious about the way that she was dressed, and Alex could understand why, more or less. Even so, he felt that the best thing that they could do at the moment was act like everything was the same as before. It seemed that the more you went out of your way to hide something, the more likely it was that other people will notice. Besides, the other students were going to talk about the way that Sofia was dressed now whether or not she was open about it, and so she might as well act like this was the norm, since it was from now on. By the time that Alex, Sofia, and Debra had reached their psychology class, Alex was wondering how long it will take for the entire student body to hear about Sofia's new clothes.

Once seated and at her desk she felt a bit more comfortable..or safe. She did try her best not to draw attention to herself though it was hard not to reach up and push her nonexistence glasses up to the brim of her nose. Her glasses had been a form of crutch. When she wore them she felt like it was some kind of shield that protected her from the world but now that she didn't have them on she felt exposed. Perhaps it wasn't the clothes that made her feel uncomfortable...no, it was the fact that she didn't have her glasses. She had been forced to dress this way whenever she goes to her parents house etc. so the clothes didn't bother her as much.

Sighing she pulled her phone out and started to email her optometrist so she could get an appointment and get new glasses. It was as if her glasses were a drug. She needed them, she felt like she'll have some kind of heart attack without them.

Thanks to the fact that everyone was so used to Sofia wearing glasses, one of the other 'couples' in the class fell into a minor disagreement. The 'husband' got the idea that Sofia was trying to go about the day without any kind of corrective lenses and was watching Sofia to see if she was going to trip over anything, while the 'wife' correctly surmised that Sofia was wearing contacts. The easy thing was for one of them to ask Sofia, but they never talked to her anyway and didn't see the need to start now. Shortly after the class had begun, one of the school councilors walked into the classroom with a young man close behind. He was dressed in a way that a foreign tourist might think of as 'classic American fashion'. In other words, he was dressed like a tourist. The school councilor said to the teacher, "This is Pierre d'Artagnan, a foreign exchange student from France. He would have been here at the start of the school year, but there had been some troubles with his passport. I've taken the liberty of explaining your pretend marriage social experiment to him, and I've mentioned that you do have an 'unmarried' female student." "S**t!" Debra whispered to herself, and she gradually sank in her seat, as if she was trying to hide. "Thank you. That saves me a little time," the teacher replied. After the school councilor had left, the teacher called out, "Debra, will you come to the front of the class please?" "S**t!" Debra repeated, although a little louder this time.

Since she had no choice, Debra walked to the front of the class and held out her hand to Pierre, but only because she was expected to. "This is Debra," the teacher said by way of introductions, "And this is..."
"Pierre d'Artagnan, at your service, ma chérie," Pierre interrupted. He bent and gave Debra a gentlemanly kiss on her hand, and then he went on to say, "Like zee Three Musketeers, no?" "No. I mean yes. I mean... whatever!" Debra replied. "In order to save time and to keep from repeating a certain unexpected event," the teacher went on to say while glancing in Alex and Sofia's direction, "We'll skip the formal wedding ceremony. Pierre and Debra, I now pronounce you husband and wife." "May I kiss zee bride?" Pierre promptly asked with a suggestive grin. "I advise against that because I don't want to become a widow and go to jail in the same day, if you get my meaning!" Debra replied threateningly. "No, I do not, but it is but a little thing," Pierre said in return.

"Ah, ma chérie" Pierre said with a sigh as he took her hand in both of his, and while he caressed her hand, he babbled on in French for a few moments. By now Debra was so embarrassed by his actions that the blush on her cheeks could easily be seen beneath her ghostly white make-up. Finally she snapped at him, "English, dammit! You're in America! Speak... in... English!" "Forgive me, ma chérie, but your rare and delicate beauty has prompted me to speak poetry," Pierre said in return. For a moment, Debra stared at him in surprise. What did he mean by 'rare and delicate beauty'? She responded by waving her free hand about two inches in front of Pierre's face. "Again, ma chérie, I do not understand your meaning," Pierre stated in confusion. "I'm just checking your eye sight," Debra informed him. "Alright, that's enough. Both of you go and sit down. Next to each other!" the teacher ordered. "Oui, Monsieur," Pierre said, and he went to sit next to where Debra had been sitting. Obviously he had noticed her location before she had come to the front of the class. "Wait! What about my 'unbiased observer' assignment?" Debra asked the teacher. "You can still do that. Just don't include your own experiences. Oh, and your own experiences will be in a separate report, like the other 'couples'." the teacher replied. "Great!" Debra mumbled sarcastically as she returned to her seat.

Sofia finished emailing her optometrist before setting her phone down and the lesson finally began but no sooner did it begin did a school counselor come in with a young man following right behind him/her. She was just as curious as everyone else to know what was going on and it was quite easy to conclude what was happening, more so when Debra was asked to go to the front. Sofia watched slightly amused as the foreigner began to compliment Debra and even went so far as to kiss her hand. She chuckled lightly and knew that Debra would be irritated the whole day. However Sofia was a bit interested in getting to know the new students only because he was from France and France was one of the places she had enjoyed visiting. She wanted to know what part he was from and what brought him to the states.

After half an hour of lessons the teacher allowed them to work on their assignment together or in small groups so as usual Sofia would work with Alex and Debra and now the new student. This was a good way of getting to know him. She hoped that she could make a new friend much like Debra had become her friend and she had been a new student as well.

Sofia waved a bit shyly at him but was bold enough to say, "Bonjour, il est agréable de vous rencontrer. Mon nom est Sofia." (Google translate lol). It was no surprise that she actually knew how to speak more than one language though she never did mention it or vocally express her knowledge. Aside from English and French she also knew Spanish, Italian and a little bit of Japanese and Chinese.

Pierre's face promptly lit up with joy, and he replied to Sofia, "Le plaisir est pour moi, Sofia. C'est toujours un plaisir de rencontrer quelqu'un dans ce pays qui peuvent parler français, et vous parlez bien. Avez-vous été en France?" According to Pierre, it stood to reason that someone who spoke French well had either visited France or was from France. Debra chose to not object to him speaking in French again, partly because he was talking with Sofia, whom Debra trusted, and partly because she hadn't fully accepted him as her pretend husband yet. If he had been speaking to some other girl, though, Debra might wonder if he was coming on to that girl, which raised the question of how was Debra supposed to tell if he was coming on to another girl while speaking French? The obvious answer was for her to learn French, which wasn't that practical for the situation. Since she now had to prepare a report on her new pretend marriage, she opened her notebook and wrote down that differences in language could be a problem in an international marriage.

((OOC: To save time, Pierre says, "The pleasure is all mine, Sofia. It’s always a delight to meet someone in this country who can speak French, and you speak it well. Have you been to France?"))

Not wanting to leave Alex and Debra out she decided to reply in English and figured Pierre would understand why she went back to speaking English. "Yes I've been to France a couple times when I was little, and I even stayed there for a couple months almost a year so I picked up the language fairly easily since I was still young. What part of France are you from?" When people thought of France the one city always thought of first was Paris, Paris Paris Paris but France was a big country and so there was no reason to believe that Pierre was from Paris.

"I am from Calais," Pierre replied in English, "It is one of zee northern-most cities in France, and on the coast of zee English Channel. On a clear day, one can look across zee Channel and see zee white cliffs of Dover." He then looked at Debra and added, "Perhaps one day you might learn to speak some French too, no? Would you like that, my little... how shall I say it... death rose?" While another person might have been offended by the strange attempt at a compliment, Debra was actually impressed because 'death rose' did seem to fit with her Goth look, and it did make her sound dangerous. Maybe this guy wasn't so bad after all. Ignoring the questions about learning French, Debra replied, "You may call me 'death rose'." "Ah bien. I was not of complete certainty that zee correct word is 'death' or 'dead'." Pierre said in return. Debra nodded and stated, "'Death rose' works for me."

Sofia nodded then turned her attention to the work they had to do. Personally Pierre and Debra looked kind of cute...despite being complete opposites of one another. Apparently she and Alex didn't get that kind of reaction from others.

With this class over and the classes continued to move along, it seemed that today was filled with new students. In Alex's class (the class before lunch), a new student walked in five minutes after class started. She walked over to the teacher and showed him her schedule as she explained that she was late because she got lost. After speaking with her for a moment the teacher instructed her to go take a seat and she did so on at the desk where Alex sat. The desks were designed where two students could sit.

The teacher went on with the lesson as she sat there and looked at Alex. Smiling warmly she greeted him, "Hello, I'm Kimberly, I'm new here." She then extended her hand to shake his. She already seemed like a nice and friendly person.

It seemed that this day was a good day for new students. First there was that French guy Pierre, and now this new girl. Naturally enough Alex had given her an appraising look as she had walked to the desk next to him. Being married didn't mean that he couldn't admire a pretty girl, just as long as that was all that he did. Alex shook hands with her and replied, "Nice to meet you, Kimberly. Welcome to the school. My name's Alex. Where are you from, if you don't mind me asking?"

"Well actually I was born and raised in this small town for a while. Then my father's company relocated him to Japan so I've been there for about five years. We moved back just a week ago. Now that we're settled in...well here I am. Truthfully Japan was a very nice place and I do miss it." She shrugged and looked around, "Every thing here looks so different now. I haven't had time to get a tour of this school so I get horribly lost.." She sighed and looked down at her class list to see what class she had next after lunch and checked the map to try and figure out the location of it.
