Location: My home is NY but I'm attending college in MA
Languages spoken: English
Languages Learning: Japanese, French
I've been self-teaching Japanese for many years and am currently at a low-mid intermediate level. I'm focusing mostly on vocabulary and kanji right now, so my biggest struggle is grammar. I'm nearly fluent in French, though I still have a lot of work to do to make that final step.
I also want to learn German and Portuguese, for heritage reasons and I also feel a strong connection to Germany, having participated in multiple exchanges and having a "second-family" over there as a result. I would also like to learn Mandarin and Korean, Korean especially. However I don't know if I will have time in college, so one or both languages may have to wait. I also love linguistics, and in middle school I wanted to be a linguistic anthropologist. ....yup. For people who like linguistics, check out "English: The Mother Tongue" by Bill Bryson. One of my favorite books ever, and it's pretty funny!

I think our French teacher (if we even had one, I'm not even sure now. >>; ) disappeared, so if you'd like to take the French language and do a teaching thread, by all means!

Location: Northern British Columbia, Canada
Languages spoken: English, French (Some), Japanese (Some), Nisga'a, Tsymsen.
Languages Learning: Japanese (School), French (School), Russian, Ukrainian, Dutch, German, Korean, Thai, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
I pick up languages fast as in if I'm taught a few things I'll typically remember them. I learnt french from Kindergarden to grade 9 and still know enough to understand what people are saying if I listen carefully. I live completely surrounded by first nations languages (am one myself) so I pick up words here and there. (I can understand it more than speak it though).
I loveeeeeeeee learning about other cultures, and it was for the longest time a dream of mine to become a linguist. The only downside was that I hated the Vancouver region of BC because I grew up in a small town on an island. (Studying International Studies right now).
I can sing in Russian, Ukrainian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Nisga'a, Tsymsen, Haida, Gitxsan, French, Latin, Italian, and Spanish (latter ones due to being a student at a Catholic school for elementary).
..........and currently feel like a lone Canadian in this guild ahaha ;; ^^
