Zulma had smiled briefly at his expression. Then she nodded in silence, not surprised at all, before commenting.
"I suppose that was..." she paused and added. "Her way to hurt Angeles for the death of Jonathan." The innkeeper remembered far too well how Angeles and she had destroyed the vampire. She saw the head rolling in her mind. If only Baldur were here to mentally reassure her like he used to do. Despite his despicable comments about Angeles, Anansi was strangely calming her down like Baldur use to.
Zulma looked at the vampire as she drank some more.
"Do you need to feed more?" she asked. Her question was blunt but she needed to know if she should bring the bottle and the candies or not.

Lucifer listened to Zulma, watching her expression changes and taking another drink of the blood. He then shook his head, "no, this is... filling," he looked up at her, wondering what exactly it was he was drinking but viewing that as too light-hearted of a question for such serious circumstances.

"I am glad that you ...enjoy the nectar." Zulma answered with a soft smile.
"Count...you have been..." she sighed dead but chose another word "...away from our world for a while." a smile without happiness came to her lips.
"The world has changed much. I don't know where to start...but maybe you have questions, maybe I have answers that would help you...and Angeles too..." the last words were said in a whisper.
She would not betray any secret from her friend, but she could help Lucifer understand the vampire she had become...maybe...and maybe not. But she would try to help, for both of them.

"Nectar," Lucifer looked down at his drink, "yes, I have seen how strange this new age is through my own eyes and through the memories of those whose blood i have taken. I understand through their teaching show it has all come to be and what all has happened since my absence, but it amazes me nonetheless," he looked up at the light, "i understand that electricity was captured, that the light is produced by a thread wrapped around a coil trapped in an airless glass container to allow the electricity to give light, but I would never have imagined such a discovery...."
He paused and looked down at the wood again, "Zulma, I understand that you and my wife are friends... The man, Gren, said I should not look for her, but, could you at least tell me why she is running from me?"

Gren lingered at the top of the stairs, not much in the mood for conversation, but feeling responsible for showing his guest around. He was stayed only by the fact that he and Zulma were talking. He wasn't sure if she was still angry from the previous day, but wasn't up for another round of passive aggression.

Lucifer went quiet as the woman did and slowly he stood from the table and moved away from her. Even though he had the delicious drink before him, her open wound was tempting, for one thing, her blood would be warm and fresh, there was no replacement for those tastes. as he walked he stopped at the base of the stairs and looked up at Gren who was standing there, his brows peaked in a slightly sorrowful expression and he held his hands behind his back before looking away from the man in shame. He felt out of place among all of the humans and even more so being among them during the day. But he would do what ever it took to catch Angeles.

"My wife," said Lucifer keeping his gaze on the ground before looking at Gren, "but that would be against your terms. besides, I think she wants to kill me anyway," he sighed and shook his head then looked at Gren, "you blood smells odd."

"It would...I only said it for her sake. She'll want time to sort it out for herself; it's not every day your 500-years dead husband arrives...besides, circumstances being what they are, she's likely got a few issues to sort out."
Walking to the bar and getting a tumbler of water. He looked around, nobody was about. "I suppose that it would...but that's a bit of a secret. Rest assured that it just makes me taste terrible." He tipped his glass with a grin and took a sip. "Tell me about yourself."

Lucifer nodded in understanding and followed Gren to where he moved. He sighed slightly and said, "there is too much to tell in one sitting, is there something specific you want to know?"

"Nothing specific...just want to get to know you. It's rough having a conversation without a little info, you know?" He led Lucifer to the comfortable chairs by the fireplace and took his favorite, patting another nearby. "I'm just sorry I wandered off last night."

Zulma had retrieved in her thoughts, trying to find the correct answer to Lucifer's question. She did not notice time passing and when she looked back up the vampire was with Gren by the fire.
She stood up silently and came to sit with the man. She sat on the floor, regretting again that Baldur was not there.
She remained silent though, waiting for Lucifer to ask her if she had an answer. She did not want to interrupt their discussion.

Lucifer took the glass of nectar and sat down next to Gren. He was a friendly man for being a bit odd. He looked at the fire and shook his head, "don't apologize, I know how humans are, being mortal means you only have so long to live, and you often do things to try to get all you want done in that short amount of time. Angeles was always doing something when she was human...," he smiled fondly at the fire before shaking his head and looked over at Gren, "well, for starters, in addition to the four-hundred and eighty-or-so years that I have been gone, I am about... nine-hundred fourty years old."
He paused and looked down at Zulma and said, "you look lonely...."
