Zulma looked at Gren then at Lucifer.
"My opinion on why Angeles is running away from you..." she wished Baldur were there so that she could caress his fur. The woman was trying to sort her thoughts, but she was sure that she would end up sounding confused.
"First the Angeles you knew is no more." her eyes drifted to the fire. "She loves you still, that's not the question. But she has changed. Your...death changed her." Zulma came back to the men, stopping on Lucifer.

Lucifer withdrew slightly from what Zulma said nd took his drink into his lap and looked sadly at the fire, "I know your words to be true," he said and closed his eyes, "I know she has changed, I saw it in her eye while she was hunting me. That cruelty there, the thrill of the kill... it was not my blushing bride."
He sighed and bowed his head, "time changes a person in ways many cannot understand. I just wish i had been there fore her, rather than damming her soul and leaving her to exist on her own and learn the cruelty of the world all alone."

Zulma felt sad for Lucifer.
"Angeles made her own choices." she hesitated for a while before adding. "The first one was to leave you in peace."
She wondered if Angeles would hate her for telling that aloud. But Lucifer was no fool and the innkeeper was sure that he knew what she just said. However hearing something was always harder than just knowing. Hearing it made it real.

"I was thinking along similar lines...she's running off because she's trying to sort herself out without dumping all of her confusion onto you...but I wouldn't say she's a totally different person. 500 years can make anyone change a bit, vampire or no." He sipped his water thoughtfully.
'The way I see it, she's not as hard as she lets on. She'll hate for me to say it, but she's got a softer heart than people think. They get caught up in the fact she can kill them in a blink and forget about getting to know her...she's not as changed as all that, maybe..."

Lucifer smiled a bit then looked at them both before sighing again, "I know that she let me lay in peace, that's what he was screaming at me the entire time I chased her to this place," he chuckled slightly then looked at Gren, "a warm heart hidden in ice?" he hummed, "perhaps that is the case, perhaps not. I won't be able to know until i speak with her."

Gren smiled, finishing his tumbler. "Speaking as one she's attacked in a blood-starved frenzy, I still think that's the case. Especially since after that, she's done me nothing but favors, even though I can't really pay them back..."

Zulma wrapped her arms around her. Her back was aching again.
Her tone was lugubrious when she added. "She is running away because as per her standards, she should have killed you already."
The woman was looking at the fire. She finished her glass at once, hoping that the delicious liquor would make her forget the pain in her back.

'She attacked you?" asked Lucifer surprised, then looked down again, "that's one reason i know i will see her again. She cannot stay in that room forever. She cannot get out the window because of the barrier, and eventually the thirst will bring her down..."
He then looked at Zulma and his face contorted with concern, "you're wounded...."

Gren glanced at Zulma out of the corner of his eye. "She's not the only one who runs away to save others from herself...why the back pain?" He smiled kindly.

Lucifer looked over to Gren, "she's been a hunter for nearly that entire time?" he stopped when he heard a step on teh stair and turned to look but it was only a dark man. Baldur glared at him then went into the kitchen for a drink.

Gren shrugged. "I've only known her a few months, and she avoids questions like that if she can help it...but she loves asking them." He waved casually to Anansi, slightly regretting the harsh words of yesterday.
