"Oh, romance? Okay..." he smiled a bit. "Romantic love is an odd sort of thing...kinds of hurts, kind of wonderful...The first thing to know about romantic love is that nobody quite understands it. There are things people know are romantic and perceive them as such, but when it comes right down to it, it's like describing the flavor of water."

Sipping his drink, he continued. "Where you should start? Depends...d'you have someone in mind for this? You don't have to say who..."

(Have fun!)

Sosol listened intently, logging away "flavor of water" for another day...that was quite the phrase. Gren asked if he had someone in mind, and his cheeks grew slightly redder as he thought about it. Most of the time, being as genuine as he was would be considered admirable. Now, it was just being a big thorn in his side.

"Well...I, uh...yeah, a woman who comes in here sometimes," he responded, reasoning that vague enough to protect the innocent. "I think of her often..."

"Okay, good! It's a lot easier when you have a direction for this kind of stuff..." He smiled a bit. "Now, d'you have a weird tight feeling in your chest when you think of her? Hurts, but not like a cut or bruise, more like an ache?"
PostPosted: Tue Jan 26, 2010 2:16 pm

Sosol tilted his head at the description but decided to go with it, conjuring a thought of his "mystery girl" to check. "Well...no, but...I feel lighter...like when I was first learning to levitate." He said with a nod, concentrating harder on the sensations. "And...a weird feeling in my stomach...what do they call that again...? Butterflies, maybe?"

He was happy to be learning all about this, but in the back of his mind was tension, a silent praying that a certain someone wouldn't come downstairs at this inopportune moment...

Sipping his drink, ne nodded sagely. "It's that kind of crush, then...not the longing from afar, but one with a lot more hope. Good..."

He set down his cup, smiling benignly. "Now...why do you want to pursue this? Just to find out how it works wouldn't be fair to her, since that'd make her just a means to an end. There's got to be something else..."

(I've gotta go for a while...doubt we'll get to finish until much later. Sorry about that. Later! )

((It's okay...I'll at least answer the question.))

Sosol shook his head. "I would never even dream of doing such a thing! Trust me...I know what it feels like to be used...no way. Never." He calmed down a little, took another drink to think about the best way of putting this, and answered.

"Every time she comes in...I do what I can to make her happy. Get her her favorite drink, listen if she wants to talk, sometimes even offer what little advice I can give. But I know...that life is difficult, and complicated, and even dangerous at times." The image of Azana's house in flames flashed in his mind, and he braced himself against it. He had never told her, but actually losing the house wasn't part of the plan...if he hasn't sensed...he stopped that train of thought and continued.

"I know that she's going to face a lot of struggles, take risks, and possibly get hurt along the way...I know that I won't foresee some of it...but I want to be there. I want to congratulate, to comfort, to protect..." He chuckled and shook his head, looking into the bottom of his mug.

Whether she thinks she needs it or not...

Fenyx held a card to his head, and opened the telepathic channels between his cards with a word. "Azana, remember, the GMO doesn't teach Western magic, so, if you need to escape, say Adeat!, and duck under the summoned cloak. However, if that one 6-wand mage knows about the pactio system, watch out, okay.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 26, 2010 4:05 pm

Azana jumped from her writing as she heard a strange voice in her mind, quickly looking around for signs of the person. However, when she realized he was explaining how the card worked, her focus went to jotting down notes on it. She pulled both of them out, noticing the one with the man's picture was glowing slightly.

Pactio...? She thought back, hoping it was two way. So...these cards...they act as connections to real things and people? They intrigued her greatly...how come the GMO never went into these kinds of magic? She had learned some elementalism...Stella delved heavily in to astral magic...but this sort of thing was alien to her. Maybe they just hadn't found a recruit who knew it yet.

This cloak...what exactly is it...?

Fenyx kept thinking. "Yes. In exchange for a magical item, able to be summoned with a card, and added strength, the protector, called a Minister or Ministra would protect the mage, called a Magister or a Magistra. However, when a mage dies, or a protector dies, their spirit can be summoned into a card, and that's why Rachel and I have so many of them. The spirit must not be stronger than you, otherwise, they will take control, as Ayase did when I tried to summon her into a card. From the card, the spirit can then be summoned into different bodies, such as dolls, robots, or yourself. I have been summoned exactly twice, both times by Ayase. We have been amassing them, and hope to find all of them, so we can, eventually bring them all back to life with a single, grand, summon. If you use the card, then the magical item appears, and you gain strength from the mage, or the spirit, on the other side of the card. Now, about that card? It belonged to a ninja, and, as such, the item, a cloak, will warp you into a different world, where there is a small window so you can see into our world, and a cottage, filled with supplies, as the ultimate assassin's hideout. The only trace left on our plane is a thin, ethereal, white string, one that can be moved where you wish. The card with me on it, you can summon a double bladed sword. Got it now?" Fenyx heard that Azana was hit by a fire spell, supposedly just mastered. "I want to see how powerful this mage is. How far away was she when she cast the spell?"

((Sorry about the delay between posts. I'm doing homework right now.))

Azana jotted down notes, trying to keep her attention about the system. It made sense, but for some reason still confused her somewhat. Either way, she knew she had access to an interdimensional cloak and a sword. Not bad for a pair of cards. Wait...interdimensional...that would be something to check later; the person wanted information in return, and on Stella. She smirked; that made perfect sense, for someone who put spirits in cards.

As long as you don't try putting her in one of these, I'll see what I can recall. The circle's boundary was about halfway between my house and the street...so maybe a 40 foot radius. She stood in the street, probably about fifteen or twenty feet away. I doubt she was trying to stretch her limits, though. She activated it approximately five seconds after the wind spell that put me back in the house...sorry if this is too much detail; I'm used to having to do this. The entirety of the circle's area was set aflame; if I hadn't set up a shield at the last second, I would have been included.

She shuddered at the thought...even though she stopped the immediate spell effect, the blaze and the smoke would have worn her down eventually. She could have died then, had it not been for Sosol. I'll be able to provide more data next I meet her, if you wish, with the same condition that no harm comes to her. She may be an annoying b***h, but she is my cousin.

"Okay, so she is a powerful mage. I was hoping the spell was simply Flagarantia Rubicans, but instead, surprise surprise, she ends up casting Οὐρανία Φλόγωσις, a high-ancient spell. The magic circle indicates use of Magia Erebea, to absorb your abilities, adding them to her own. Don't worry about her using dark magic, Rachel and I use it too." Fenyx absorbed a hellfire spell into his body, and the picture on all of his cards turned much darker. "I just wanted the info to see what you would be up against, and how much support you would need for an all out war, as she is one of the more powerful mages in the GMO, if I am correct."

((Yes, there is a TVTropes link))
PostPosted: Tue Jan 26, 2010 5:23 pm

Azana folded her arms, listening to the voice in her head and realizing how crazy it sounded if you were not of her persuasion.

Maybe...but she does use a completely different system of magic than you. The circle was, in my opinion, a way to prevent too much collateral damage, but then again, I hadn't considered the possibility that she was draining what magic ability I had simultaneously. If she had figured out how to do that, things were definitely going to be difficult.

Six-wand is pretty high, admittedly, but what makes the difference is that she's been studying and practicing for years with little distraction. Guess that's a perk when your dad runs the place. As for support...this sounds crazy, but I'm hoping this is a one-on-one match. She has some issues I need to lay to rest, and I think that's the only way it'll get done. She closed her eyes, reminiscing about days long past, when they were in training and Stella started getting her prejudiced attitudes.

Still, I won't turn down these...they're no different than if I used TaylorTech, and I certainly hope to.

"If she does use a different system, then it was probably just a focal point. The spell I mentioned is the most powerful known fire-based spell in existence, but it requires a very long incantation in ancient Greek. By the way, I can't store her soul in a card if she is not dead, so don't worry about me sealing her. The GMO and I seem to have similar goals, to revive the billions of mages that were killed when the Mundus Magicus was destroyed, but I don't like what they are doing, so I will help you however I can." Fenyx looked around. "Anyway, I have to go. I think that we are being intercepted. The Code of the Lifemaker should never be invoked." Fenyx dropped the connection, worried about what was overheard.
PostPosted: Tue Jan 26, 2010 5:49 pm

Azana watched the card return to normal as she sat there with the pencil in hand. The most powerful fire spell...she shook her head. So she had a lot of spells now...a lot of powerful spells. Did she have the energy to do more than her most simple afterwards...? That was the question to figure out, if she was going to get a good plan of attack.

"Heh...James would be proud. So, let's see..." She held up the Fenyx card and sent out a bit of will. "Adeat!" The card vanished, and in her hand was a rather servicable, and considerably heavier, double-edge sword. "Oh, Taylor would have a field day trying to make an equivalent...Adeat!" It returned to its card form, that she slipped into her pocket. That would come in handy for her field trips.

I'm going to assume this is your name, and I know you can't hear me now...but thank you, Fenyx.

Gren chuckled as he mused over what Sosol had said. It was an innocent love he had. A rare one in people his age, precious as the first snow drop. It'd have to be dealt with delicately...but it was a start. "Now...how to get the ball rolling..."
