Thanks to his relatively early arrival at school, Alex had the time to thank Greg for the picture that Greg had sent him the previous night. When he arrived at his class, there was still a couple minutes before it began. Wouldn't you know it though? Goth girl was now in his class, and sitting with Sofia, no less. Knowing that he was still expected to sit with Sofia, he plopped into the desk next to hers, and since there was some time left before the class started, he casually said to goth girl, "I don't believe I caught your name last night." "Don't believe I dropped it," she snootily replied, "But if you have to have one, call me Debra." "Nice to meet you, Debra," Alex said simply because he was expected to, but Debra had gone back to ignoring him and talking to Sofia.

Once the class had started, the teacher stood at the front and said, "Before we start today, we have a new student in our class. Why don't you introduce yourself, Debra?" That, of course, was an order instead of a request. Debra grudgingly moved to the front of the clas and said, "My name is Debra Hancock, and I've just moved here from across town, and... that's all that you need to know." Turning her attention to the teacher, Debra stated, "My friend Sofia told me all about this pretend marriage project that you have this year, and since there doesn't seem to be a pretend husband for me, why don't I..." She paused just long enough to look around and pick out a couple that appeared to be getting along together quite well, and she pointed at the boy while she continued, "Why don't I pretend to be his mistress? You know, add some real-world drama to their relationship." The boy and his pretend wife stared back at Debra with stunned, 'What the f***?' expressions on their faces. The teacher merely sighed and shook his head as he replied, "That won't be necessary. I already have a project for you do to. What I want you to do is interview each couple on a regular basis, monitor the progress of their respective marriages, pretend or otherwise, and at the end of the year you will submit a 'lessons learned' report based on your findings. I have a list of survey questions for you to use during the interviews. If you have any additional questions that you wish to ask, please submit them to me for approval before you ask them." Debra acted as if she was disappointed and she said in return, "Alright, I'll do your project. I still think my idea is better." When she went back to her desk, she leaned over to Sofia and whispered in her ear, "Did you see the expression on that boy's face? That alone made it worthwhile."

It was hard for Sofia not to laugh when she heard Debra's suggestion and the face on those two was just priceless. Sofia sat there with an amused expression on her face and when Debra rejoined her she nodded, "I agree, it took all my energy not to laugh. I think I would have liked to do your project rather than the one I'm currently doing, that probably would have prevented the whole mess from happening. If you need help you can ask me, right now I can tell you that only five couples are actually doing rather well and there's one couple that is on the edge of getting a divorce. If anything they might go today by the end of the class and tell the teacher they can't take it anymore." She smiled and as time went by, near the end of class the couple she spoke of were arguing when suddenly the girl stood up and shouted, "You're so damn annoying! Who would want to marry you!" He then stood up and shouted back, both ended up going to the teacher and telling him that they were done with this pretend marriage and they no longer cared if they failed the project.

Sofia leaned over to Debra, "Told you." She laughed and finished up her work before the bell rang.

"Yes, you certainly did," Debra said in return, "Personally, I hope that they can save their 'marriage' because I don't want our teacher to give my 'lessons learned' report to her and her pretend husband to me. I mean, if he couldn't make his first 'marriage' work, what makes anyone think that his second one will work? Of course I'm getting ahead of myself, but these issues might need to be addressed."

When the bell rang to signal the end of the first class for the day, Alex decided to ask one of the questions that had been on his mind since the previous night, and before Sofia could leave the classroom, he inquired, "I was just wondering, do you really need to wear those glasses? I mean absolutely, positively have to?"

Sofia got up and walked out into the hall with Debra, "I agree with you completely." The day started off rather well for the first time in quiet a long time. She simply made her way to her next class but she accompanied Debra first and basically walked her to her next class since it was on the way to her own class. Just like that it was lunch time and she had told Debra to meet her in the music room since that was where she always hung out. Sofia had packed lunch for herself and Debra since she never really did for Alex because he never asked but when Sofia checked in her bag one of the paper bags with the lunch was missing. She sighed and smacked herself on the head since she remembered that she was in a hurry this morning that she accidentally put one of the bags into Alex's bag.

(OOC: Found a WAAAAAAAAAY better picture that depicts Sofia a lot better. biggrin And yes, I changed the picture in every single post XD had that much time on my hands)

Needless to say, Alex was surprised when he found the lunch in his bag. Sofia hadn't bothered to do that for him before, and he didn't think that her gratitude for the previous day had extended that far. He felt tempted to eat the lunch, but if it was meant for her, that would only give her another reason to gripe at him. With that thought in mind, Alex went to find her so that he could return the lunch. He looked at the library first, but she wasn't there. His second guess was that she was in the music room. Sofia was there, and sure enough, Debra was with her. That left Alex wondering if Sofia had ever bonded with anyone else as quickly in her entire life. Holding up the lunch, he asked her, "Are you missing something?"

((OOC: Yes, that picture works quite well, and there is a lot to be said for consistency.))

Sofia stood up and looke dat Alex and hesitantly took the bag thinking it might be empty but surprisingly it was still full. "I'm surprised you didn't eat it..thank you.." she muttered before sitting back by the window where she was talking to Debra. Their conversations were always so random but had some point to it whether it was about their lives, school or their hobbies in which Debra clearly knew what they were but she had told her that one of her hobbies was also photography. Sofia mentioned that she forgot to show her her bedroom last night and that she should come whenever she can so that she could so her her room since all her photography was there, framed and put on the wall. Sofia simply spoke to Debra no longer paying attention to Alex since she figured he was going to leave anyway.

Today she had dressed oddly again but that's what she did every day and she didn't care what people thought about her fashion and the moment people had seen her they would be drawn to her legs, not because they were long but because they were covered by her yellow leggings and odd knee high socks.

(OOC: Instead of heals their just worn down high top converse)

User ImageDebra was glad when Alex left quickly, partly because his attitude bothered her and partly because he was interrupting her conversation with Sofia. After a while, Debra felt the call of nature, and so she said to Sofia, "Will you excuse me? I have to go powder my nose." She then left the music room and hurried to the nearest girls' bathroom. Fortunately she could remember where it was at. Unfortunately, just as she was leaving the music room, she saw the cheerleader from the previous day, and this time she was backed up by another four. The moment that Brandy saw Debra her face lit up and she said to the others, "Hey look! It's the girl that I told you about!" Speaking to Debra, she continued, "I'm still trying to figure out if you're supposed to be a vampire or just an emo." "Why don't you come closer?" Debra suggested, "If I bite you on the neck, I'm a vampire! Mystery solved." Brandy glared at Debra and remarked, "You've got a pretty smart mouth for a new girl. Maybe I should slap it off your face." In any other situation, Debra would have been glad to trade insults with Brandy, but at the moment she had a more pressing need. Instead, she reached into the hidden pocket on her dress and took out a matte-black butterfly knife. She expertly unsheathed the blade with a flick of her wrist and held it in front of her as she replied, "If you want to dance, just name the tune!" Brandy's face visibly paled and she backed up a couple steps. Obviously this wasn't the kind of confrontation that she wanted or expected. "You... you can't have that!" she finally sputtered, "It's illegal! I'm telling!" Brandy then turned and all but ran, in a very childish manner, to the nearest classroom, with Team Bimbo following on her heels. Debra was smirking as she sheathed the blade and tucked the knife securely down the front of her dress, where it wouldn't be found unless she was thoroughly frisked or strip-searched. Both of them would require a female teacher, and since Debra hadn't bee in that school long enough to be labeled as a trouble-maker, she didn't think that the school will bother to do either, at least this time.

She was almost at the bathroom when the cheerleaders returned with a male teacher in tow, and Brandy declared accusingly, "There she is! She's the one with the knife!" "Knife? What knife? I don't have a knife!" Debra replied while holding out her hands to show that they were empty. Brandy was frowning, but guessed that she knew where the knife had gone, and so she grabbed the pocket in Debra's dress to find it. When she didn't, she began to pat her way around Debra's waist in search of another pocket. Debra let her do that for a couple seconds before pushing Brandy's hands away and insisting, "Hey! That's what they call 'unwanted physical contact'! At least buy me dinner first!" Brandy flushed at the implication, and then announced, "She probably ditched it someplace." Spotting a nearby trash can, Brandy went to it and began to dig through the trash in search of the elusive knife. During that time, the teacher had been looking from Debra to Brandy and back again. While Debra appeared to be disreputable, Brandy had a bad reputation as well. He could have asked the other cheerleaders about what had happened, but he knew that they would swear on a stack of bibles that black was white and the moon was made of green cheese if Brandy told them to, and so they were useless. Finally he chose to take a middle road. Looking at Debra again, he sternly told her, "There are laws against bringing weapons to school. I'd advise you to become familiar with them if you aren't already." He then went on his way. "I will. Thank you, sir!" Debra replied, and she finally made it to the bathroom.

Sofia nodded and watched Debra leave though she knew that she would encounter trouble out in the halls so she peeked her head out of the classroom and watched her walk to the bathroom which was near the end of the hall and there Brandy came with her pack of mules. She sighed and shook her head but watched figuring that Debra could handle herself in such a situation. It surprised Sofia as much as it did Brandy when she pulled out the knife but as she continued to watch a smile spread across her face and she laughed softly to herself especially when Brandy began digging in the trash can. She pulled her phone out and zoomed in and took a picture of her. It was a little pay back from all those times she harassed her. Soon the picture was spreading all over the school since she sent it to Aeron who sent a mass text to those he knew and it spread like a virus. Sofia sat back by the window sill and waited for Debra to come back as she borrowed the music teachers microwave and heated up the food.

Since Debra didn't have any friends in the school who would text her, and didn't have a cell phone to receive any texts to begin with, she was completely ignorant of the viral sensation that she had helped to create. "Sorry I took so long," she said apologetically to Sofia when she returned to the music room, "I ran into that cheerleader and her harem, and I needed to put Little Miss Rah Rah in her place."

Thanks to the usual dynamics of gossip, Alex was about three steps down the grapevine from Aeron, and he had no idea that Sofia had taken the picture of Brandy that was sweeping through the school like a tidal wave, or that Aeron was the primary distributor. Not that it would have mattered if he had known. All that Alex cared about was that the embarrassing photo was almost as good as the one that Greg had sent to him. "Did you get this?" he asked Greg, who was conveniently with him at the moment. "I certainly did!" Greg replied while looking at his cell phone and smiling. "I wonder what she's looking for," Alex mused. "Her lunch?" Greg suggested, and then he inquired, "By the way, have you used the picture that I sent you yet?" Alex shook his head and replied, "Not yet. I'm just waiting for the right moment."

"No worries, I saw and look what I caught," Sofia said as she took her phone out which happened to be the new iphone though Aeron forced her to get it. She clicked on the picture of Brandy digging in the trash and showed it to Debra knowing she would get a kick out of it. Some people that walked by the classroom where actually talking about it and laughing, and for once Sofia was not the butt of the joke. She smiled happily to herself as she sat there enjoying her lunch and handing Debra the other lunch as well so she may enjoy it. Today seemed to have been far too perfect and she just hoped nothing would ruin her day. The lunch bell ran and it was off to the next classes which were all too long and boring but Aeron had shown up at her last class so that was a good way to end the day.

Sofia met up with Debra by the tree she sat at yesterday, "So are you going home or are you still up to going to my house and looking at the pictures I took?" As she asked they simply walked and so she waited for her reply.

"No need for me to go home yet," Debra said in return, "And I bet that Grandma is expecting me to visit you again, and so she probably won't be quite as uptight about it as yesterday. Besides, I want to see if you're as good with a camera as you are with a brush."

The first indication that Brandy got that something was dreadfully wrong came about mid-afternoon when she found a color ink-jet printout of the photo that filled the entire page. While much of the quality of the picture had been lost when it had been enlarged, it was still clear enough to recognize Brandy as she dug through the trash can. Brandy screamed in rage as she tore down the picture and ripped it to shreds, as she did to the copy that she found a little further down the hall, and the next one, and the next one. She had to give that up when she realized that there were still two dozen copies spread out along that hall alone. Turning to her cohorts, she held out a wadded-up picture and vowed, "When I find out who did this, that person is dead! Dead I tell you!" Ironically the one person who Brandy hated the most at the moment, i.e. Debra, couldn't have taken the photo. As for Sofia, Brandy didn't know that Sofia had seen the entire confrontation with Debra, and Brandy didn't think that Sofia had the guts to take such a photo, let alone spread it to everyone in the school. Meanwhile, Alex had gone to football practice at the end of the school day, just like always.

"I hope that my photography is as good as my painting," Sofia said with a chuckle as she continued walking home and she had grabbed one of the filers with Brandy digging in the trash can just for a memento. If Brandy ever found out she was the one that took that picture, Sofia felt that it was worth it and it didn't matter what that crazy girl did. This one moment of laughter and attention being taken away from her was too great. When they reached the apartment Debra and Sofia were greeted by Bo as he licked their hands. Before she could show Debra her room she had to feed Bo first but once that was done with she lead her down the hall and opened the door leading her into her room (instead of pink red). The walls were covered with several pictures, some of Bo having fun at the park and resting by the lake and there was one in black and white. There were also many of nature and others of random things.
