Emily listened to the men talk, watching Gren as he made a paper hat for himself. Maybe they could all be pirates and play a game? Emily smiled at that but then looked over as MacPere put the cake on a table. She looked back at Gren and pretended to pay close attention before she began sneaking over to where the cake was and she lifted the lid of the tin and peeked inside. she reached in and grabbed a fistful of the cake and slipped her hand out, causing the metal to clank. Quickly she put the cake into her mouth before the adults could stop her, and instantly regretted it.

Finishing the crane, he smiled at it until he heard the clank of metal. Turning to the sound, he found Emily wincing, spitting out a hunk of cake. "Did---Oh, Emmy, I did tell you..."

"Well, I learned the difference between a--" At the clatter of the tin, MacPere sat up and sighed, pouting at the expression over Emily's face and her spitting of the cake. "I told you not to take any... Wait! Here..." He stood and lead her into the bathroom, opening the toilet. "Spit it out in there, dear, not the floor~"

Grabbing a tissue from the box at the bedside, Gren picked up the damp chunks of cake and tossed them out before watching after the two, a look of mild regret. He couldn't say they were good, not even to be polite...but he'd hate to ruin the man's confidence.

Emily obeyed and spat out the cake into the toilet. She ran her tongue along the roof of her mouth to try to get the taste off.

"That bad, huh...?" Taking the second glass from the sink and filling it with water, he crouched before Emily and handed her the glass with a sad yet amused smile. "At least you can tell me the truth, hm?"

"Perfectly~" MacPere replied, taking back the glass as Emily finished and rinsing it out, placing it on the side. "Although..." He strolled back through, leaning against the wall of the bathroom door. "You could tell me the truth of what the cakes taste like... I won't be offended~"

Eyes averted guiltily, he murmured "I thought you might be...you tried hard, I didn't just want to say it...but it's...they're...they're not good...kind of awful, even."

MacPere laughed and walked over to Gren, pulling him into an embrace and rubbing his back. "Don't be sorry... I won't improve without critique, right? God, I can't believe you actually ate that..."

Sighing happily and nuzzling into the warm neck, he said "Well, like I said...I was eating it because you made it, and gave me the first one...it was so sweet, I couldn't not eat the thing...and besides, I've had worse..."
He glanced over at Emily, playing with the crane. "Think it's about bedtime for someone?" he murmured, with a kiss to MacPere's neck.

"Ah, you sweet thing... And as for that, I think so~" Giving a last back rub and pulling away from the embrace, MacPere swept up Emily and spun her around, smiling at her. "I'm afraid it's bedtime for you, sweetheart~ Wave goodnight to Gren~"
As Emily clutched the crane and gave a small wave, MacPere left for her room and held her under the arms with both hands, lifting her into the air as a means of exercising. "One... Two... Three..."

"Good night!" Waving goodnight as they left, Gren took the opportunity to clean up the bits of paper laying about and folding up the bedsheet tent. It'd be easy enough to recontruct...perhaps he'd make one in her room tomorrow.
Room tidied, he thought for a moment before removing his jacket, unbuttoning his shirt, unbinding his hair and splaying himself on the bed.

Finishing with twenty reps, MacPere placed the giggling Emily in her bed and allowed her to crawl under the covers before tucking them up and pressing a kiss to her forehead. "Sleep tight Emily~" He cooed, bringing the door ajar to allow a slither of the hall light through for comfort.
Padding back down the hall, he sighed as he opened his own door and entered the room, looking up to greet Gren with words. Greet with words if they weren't lost among mindless murmurs, that is.
