Fenrir's left arm hung limp at his side. Even with the restraints of his body removed by opening the gates, performing that kind of attack greatly damaged his arm. Still, he grinned savagely. "Heh heh, what a joke you are, and a selfish one at that. You keep talking about how beatuful and necessary death is." Fenrir glanced at the snow and ice that had once been Nexus's clone. "But the game suddenly seems ugly when it's your life that might be taken, doesn't it? You think your life is any more precious than mine? I wonder, when death comes for your own life, how much will you cower before you realize your own foolishness? Will you come to learn the truth?" He stood his ground as the ice dragons fired toward him and he charged his fight fist with chakra. "That every life is just as precious as your own!" He then pounded it into his stomach and let loose a tremendously powerful steroid blank, tearing apart the earth as it crashed into the dragons, and with its wide range aimed to crash into Nexus and his clone. A bunch of dust kicked up, but then the ice dragons appeared through it. "No way. How can it be so powerful?" Fenrir asked himself in awe. He tried to make a quick dodge but one of the dragons slammed into his left arm, covering it in ice. The ice then grew exponentially, covering Fenrir's entire body in seconds. "W-What kind of ice is this!? Is the difference between our power really so far?"

The purple spiraling bruise marks covering Fenrir's left arm suddenly started to glow an eerie purple light. As the ice covered his eyes, Fenrir was enveloped in the mystical light. He blacked out to the deepest reaches of his mind. Fenrir found himself in the same nightmare he'd been in before, trapped in a cold and dark cell while deaths of people he didn't know flashed in front of the bars. Something was very different though. It looked like the cage had become a great deal smaller than it was the last time Fenrir found himself in it. Now his whole body could hardly fit inside. It then dawned on him that the cage had not become smaller, but rather he had somehow gotten bigger. Fenrir grabbed the now minature bars with he claws and growled, "I....am not....going to stay a prisoner...inside my own mind!" With some effort Fenrir forced the bars open and slashed at the images of murder that had haunted him before. The images shredded and fell apart as if it all was just an old movie being played on a screen. Something came into view beyond the images and Fenrir pushed himself past them to see what it was. A large black-furred wolf stood a few meters away, within an area of light, staring back at Fenrir. Then the wolf silently ran off to its left, down a dark hall. "Wait you stupid beast!" Fenrir shouted as he ran after it.

It didn't take long for Fenrir to find himself lost in the darkness. He kept running in the direction he saw the wolf go, but the beast had vanished from view long before he could get anywhere close to it. Fenrir eventually stopped and put his hands on his knees as he panted aloud, "Damn animal. Where the hell did it go?" A sudden menacing chuckle answered him from somewhere in the darkness, and Fenrir straightened up. "Who is that!? Show yourself!"

"Of course, master." a voice echoed to Fenrir. A light suddenly appeared high above Fenrir's head, revealing a shadowy creature resting upon some darkly hidden structure. Slowly a series of purple rings formed and then the shape solidified into a large cat. It had an odd purple colored fur in the form of numerous rings around its enitire body.
"Have you seen a black furred wolf just run through here?" Fenrir asked in a snarl, keeping high alert and twitching his sharp nailed fingers.
The cat waved its tail carelessly with a mad grin. "Seen? But Fenrir, the wolf I see here is you."
"How do you know my n- argh forget it. I'm not letting some beast out run me." Fenrir growled before starting to sprint away.
The strange cat suddenly appeared high up in front of Fenrir. "By the way, he didn't go that way."
"So you have seen it!?" Fenrir said coming to a stop.
"Seen what?"
"The black wolf!"
"What wolf?" the cat grinned.
"But you just said- argh forget it. It's obvious that I'm talking to an idiot."
"You're talking to a Cheshire Cat, actually, and if you really want to know I can tell you where your wolf is."

"You should've said that from the beginning! Where is it!?"
The cat grinned wider. "Have you gone blind Fenrir? The wolf is standing in front of you." Cheshire then waved his tail and the light that surrounded him cascaded down to reveal that he'd been resting on a giant mirror that fell all the down to the floor. Right in front of Fenrir, in the mirror, the large black-furred wolf stared back at him. Fenrir took a step back in shock, and the mirrored wolf stepped back at the same time. Cheshire then hopped down from its place atop the mirror. When he landed the cat was no longer there, but a teenage boy with purple hair and spiraling tattoos. His mirror reflection showed the same cat as before, standing next to the wolf. Cheshire threw his now human arm around Fenrir. "Breath-taking isn't it. I told you that you were the only wolf I see around here. Hahahaha"
Fenrir suddenly snarled, grabbed Cheshire's arm with one hand while grabbing his throat with the other. He transfered his power and slammed Cheshire into the glass mirror, causing a distinct cracking and crushing sound. "What the hell's going on here!? What does this mean and what are you!? You're going to quit playing games and answer me now, or I'll-"
"-take off my head?" Cheshire finished as he grabbed his own hair with his other hand and pulled the appendage off. Suddenly his body vanished from his feet up, his wide grin being the last to fade out of view. The fanged mouth then reappeared a few feet behind Fenrir, and within seconds his body became visible as he said in a sweeping bow, "I am your servant, here to aid you whenever possible. You may call me, Cheshire."
Fenrir snarled, his finger bones cracking as he clenched his claws and turned towards Cheshire. "Any reason for why a stupid cat is my servant?"

Cheshire continued to grin. "I was the only one who survived your test. I am your servant because I was the only one who you couldn't kill, and the only reason why you couldn't kill me," Cheshire pulled off his head again, "is because I can't die. Fenrir, my master, what did you say the most important thing in life is?"
Fenrir stopped, and he unclenched his claws. "He's right. If it's true, and I can't kill him, then he'd be the perfect minion for me." Fenrir stared at Cheshire and muttered, "Surviving."
"Ah yes, I remember now, survival. Something I could only truly learn from you."
"What do you mean?"
"I'm saying that I'm not the only immortal in this dark abyss you've thought up."
"What? But I'm no-"
"On the contrary master you've been alive for quite some time now. Tell me, what was the number on your dog tag? They come in pairs after all. One held your name, the other a number. What was it?"
"..........Four. Wait! You can't mean that-there's just no way!"
"It's impossible and yet you've done it. You're very good at that. Heh heh, that's right, Fenrir, this is your fourth life. You are immortal through Reincarnation."

Dozens of questions filled Fenrir's head with such unexpected news. Every answer this strange creature gave him only lead to more confusion, more mystery, and more impossibilities.
Cheshire seemed to know what Fenrir was feeling as the confused man stood in silence. The man grinned widely once more. "How deep does this rabbit hole go? That's what you're thinking, isn't it?"
After a brief moment of silence, Fenrir answered, as if promising something to himself, "If it does have an end, I will find it."
Cheshire chuckled menacingly, "Wonderful. But to find an end to such a dark place, first you will need light. Ask your questions, I know you have them."
"I won't hold back then. First, I desperately need to know, what was I like in my past lives?"
Cheshire laughed again. It sounded odd, a high pitched cackling that playfully clawed at his nerves. "Like? Why Fenrir, in you've always been the same. I will admit, if I may speak so freely master, that this life you've had is a bit.....different."
"Explain."

"In every life since your first, you have been the major contributor in causing every war and every possible calamnity that could bring about absolute chaos."
Fenrir's eyes narrowed, and he suddenly felt a wave of guilt. "The Great Ninja Wars."
The cat's eyes brightened, "That's right. War is the strongest, and yet easiest, way of ensuring total destruction. The distrust is the hearts of shinobi is easily used against them to break the bonds between themselves and launch themselves at each other to create a pathway towards oblivion. Fenrir, you alone have been the key player in every Great Ninja War, in an effort to bring about Ragnarock, a divine war so great that the world will be ended by its power. " Cheshire stopped to sigh, and his grin vanished, "Unfortunately, you've been killed and the wars have been stopped each time before the death of the planet could be completed. On the up side though, every experience has been incredibly entertaining." he finished, his grin returning.
Fenrir took the truth of his identity to heart. War. Is it really all my fault? I've never felt any attachment to the rest of humanity, sure, but I'd never wish for their annihilation! Wait.....that's it!" Fenrir turned his attention back to the smirking Cheshire. You said earlier that I was different. What did you mean by that?"

The grin left, and an angry look took over the cat's face. "Forgive me for saying it master, but you out of all of the other past lives, are the biggest failure. It pains me, master, but you have not been yourself. We thought we could return you to normal by erasing your memory, but-"
"Wait a minute! You erased my memory!?"
"Well yes, master. I'm sorry but we had to fix what was wrong with you, otherwise your goal might never be reached."
Fenrir was snarling now. "And what is so wrong with me, huh!? Who is this "we"!? And why should I give a damn if my past goal isn't reached!? I don't want to destroy humanity anyways!"
Cheshire's hand suddenly disappeared and Fenrir felt himself being strangled by the throat and lifted into the air. The cat's eyes were shining with fury and its skin turned grayish black inbetween the purple stripes. "Listen to what you're saying! This is why we had to erase your memory, but the valkyries and I failed! It was too late. So long as you're in this life, you won't change back to the real Fenrir! You'll stay this weak, pathetic, life-loving fool! And all because you had to fall in love!" Cheshire then released Fenrir and his hand returned to its proper place while Fenrir choked for air on the ground.

Then, strangely, Fenrir started to laugh, as if he was mocking Cheshire. "Love!? Hahaha! I actually fell in love, and because of that the true me, who's sole goal was the destruction of humanity, was tamed into becoming its protector without even knowing it!? What a joke that is! Hahaha!"
"A joke? Yes, I suppose so." Cheshire grinned. "But a joke that defeated us. Somehow, it doesn't seem so funny."
Fenrir stopped laughing and thought, "A woman who earned my love? I think I would very much like to meet such a person." For a second he thought of Tsuna, his house maid who'd been the only person that had been a constant in his life, at least the one he remembered. "But then, she would've said something about it. It can't be her." He then glanced at Cheshire while massaging his throat. "So, this woman, what happened to her?"
Cheshire's grin grew wider. "We disposed of her around the same time as we erased your memory. I couldn't allow her to disrupt your destiny twice."
For a reason Fenrir couldn't explain, the cat's talk brought an incredible pain to his heart. He felt like he had to cry, but didn't know why. Then, anger struck him. "I told you that is not my destiny! So long as I'm alive, I will stop myself from ever bringing about such calamnity! Even if it's against my nature, my true self, or whatever other bull s**t you've been spilling, I will save everyone by being the guardian of my own demon heart!"

Fenrir was expecting Cheshire to try and choke him again, but surprisingly he only grinned. "By all means, master, do whatever you want. However, I feel obliged to let you know that despite your plans on prolonging Ragnarock, your current body will be destroyed within the next few minutes, and with it, all that love has changed in you."
Another wave of pressure and realization hit Fenrir. He'd heard people tell him that he was going to die before, but hearing from Cheshire it felt different. The beast had never lied to him, despite how difficult the conversation had been. Now that Cheshire was telling him he was about to die, it seemed so absolute.
"You're not going to win this fight, master. No matter how great or high ranked you are within your little kumogakure, to a god you're little more than a wild dog. Don't worry though, even if there is nothing left of your body or soul the reincarnation process will continue as it always has. It'll take some time for the valkyries to find another body capable of containing your soul, but it will be done. Til then, why don't you sleep away the warmth of your heart?"

Fenrir snarled, his ferocity coming back to him. "Why do the Gods want me dead!? From the way you speak it seems like I'm more of a God than a man myself!"
"The Gods are trying to kill you because they know what you are, and what you've been trying to do. Funny how they finally catch up to you just when you've grown a conscience. No need to worry though. They're trying their best to contain you now, but I know something about you that they don't. Something that you've proven to yourself not ten minutes ago. Your desire for survival and freedom go far beyond the limits of what the Gods could possibly understand. You can't be contained. You are the sole being who will eventually escape any prison, including the jail cell called death. Never the less, the Gods will continue to try. No matter what you or the Gods try to do, Ragnarock is coming. Ah! I just thought up a great riddle! What is the difference between redemption rebirth?" With those last words Cheshire vanished on the spot.
Fenrir stopped his snarling and started to walk away. "Foolish cat. There is no answer. Both of those allow you forget the sins of the past. Even if I am destined to die here, I can't simply give up. I'll fight on with everything in me. Heh heh, I always wondered why I'd felt such a desire to become a shinobi in the first place. I figured it was because fighting was the only thing that gave me peace in this world, but I believe now that the desire came for a different purpose. Somwhere within this body, the owner of the name that was lost on me is telling me to live on. The fate of the world now rests on that survival you claim I'm so gifted with." As Fenrir walked past the mirror something caught his eye. He glanced at it for a second, smirked, and walked on until he disappeared in a flash of bright light. Within the mirror, a white-furred wolf replaced the black.

Fenrir opened his eyes, and saw only ice in front of him. He felt it about to cover the last part of his head. He'd spent what felt like several minutes in his mind but in reality it had only been a few seconds. "You can't be contained." Cheshire's words still played in his head. Not wasting any time, Fenrir thought of a quick offensive. He quickly channeled his bones in his body and shot them all out at once, sending the ice in shards everywhere. Suddenly a giant white cannon formed on Fenrir's back, causing him to get on all fours from the weight of it. He grinned and poured all of the ninja supplies he kept on him into the huge barrel. "I wonder, death god, are you still so sure that you can kill me? CAN YOU KILL THIS RESOLVE!?" Fenrir fired the cannon and not only did it fire all of the kunai, shuriken, exploding kunai, near invisible razor wire, and smoke and flash bombs at an unbelieveable speed, but also a barrage of long ivory spears with them as well, reaching speeds exceeding the other projectiles. More than that, but each of the projectiles was infused with tons of wind chakra, capable of miraculous physical impact and power. "Ivory Cannon! Hellfire Requiem!" Fenrir wasn't a god, but with the power he gained from opening the maximum amount of gates he could without dying, as well as the power of his epiphany and formed resolve, he couldn't help but feel like maybe, just maybe, he might live long enough to visit Tsuna and the temple once last time. The path he'd been searching for had suddenly appeared, and whether he lived through this fight or not the journey that path would take him on was only just beginning.

It'll take some time for the valkyries to find another body capable of containing your soul, but it will be done. Til then, why don't you sleep away the warmth of your heart?"

Even though there's no use in crying over spilled milk . . .

-----So I'm looking at the Ranmaru rules and it says that the user can look through ALL genjutsus.
Does this include Mangekyo ones? I'd just like some clarification, please.

. . . At least let me clean my mess up and pour myself a new glass.
