"Um, let's see...I liked going out with the friends I had, though they were kind of dumb in retrospect, so that's not gonna happen...I'd paint, but I don't have any supplies...I want to try gardening but it's too cold still." he said, listing these off on his fingers.

"That, and I'm not that good at a lot of things, so..." his voice trailed off, and he looked up sheepishly.

Azana concentrated, measuring out the right amounts of everything...or at least what she thought were the right measurements. Sosol had always been better at this than her, and it was showing in spades. With a small "ta-da", she picked up the glass and took a sip, immediately grimacing as she forced herself to swallow.

"Don't worry," she coughed a bit, pouring the rest of the drink out before filling the glass with cola, "everyone has their strengths and weaknesses..." She thought back over the list...hanging out with friends, gardening, painting...

"Hm. What if you did have art supplies...?" She asked. "I'm sure Zulma would love a piece or two for the walls." At mention of the name, she thought a bit about the Innkeeper, wondering when, if ever, she was planning on returning to her establishment. Everyone missed her so much...even those who knew nothing of her but the stories of days gone by.

((Time for practicum...I'm really hoping it's a light day. Last week gave me a killer headache.))

"If I had any, I sure would! But, um...I don't have any money to but them, so I guess I should get a job?" he said, laughing a little. "Who's Zulma?"

(Tch, this brower...I'm sorry for the delays. Have fun!)

((Light day! A few more posts in me...))

"No one told you?" She asked, clearly surprised. Angeles had been there practically from the start...and she had apparently left her pupil in the dark about their benefactor. "Zulma is the owner and founder of this place...she worked harder than anyone I knew at making this a success, welcoming everyone, helping to heal those hurt by the Cult Clash..."

She took a sip of the cola. "It took a real toll on her, I can tell...she took some personal time away from here...and hasn't come back. I'm kind of frightened that she won't, but at least we'll keep it going in her absence."

Knocking herself out of her little monologue, she smirked as she went back to the real issue at hand. "A job helps keep you busy, that's for sure...but until then, I could float you a loan for some painting stuff. You could pay me back whenever you're stable...but one piece has to stay here." It seemed like a good deal, and everyone won. Remy got to paint, the Inn got some artwork...yeah, she might have to freeload a couple days, but it would be worth it in the end.

(Gotcha, as I may be getting abducted by a friend soon myself)

"Oh..." he said, frowning slightly. "She sounds awfully nice...I hope she's okay. I'd like to thank her personally some day."

At the mention of a loan, Remy shook his head. "No, no...it's better if I get a job somewhere. I don't like borrowing money; I forget all about who I've borrowed it from and wind up making mistakes. I'll just wait on it." He looked up, smiling cheerfully. "But I'll make sure you get one for yourself...maybe you and Sosol?"

((Understood. No worries. heart ))

"Me, too," Azana replied with a sigh. The honest truth was she hadn't gotten to know Zulma too well back in those days, having been busy investigating the aftermath and the creation of the so-called Plains of Torment. By the time she started returning regularly...Zulma had already left for the most part. "I'm sure she's alright...if I remember properly, she had a bodyguard of some sort. Nothing will happen to her."

Remy turned down her proposition, which both aggravated and impressed her. He was really serious about standing on his own feet...it kind of reminded her of a certain psychic bartender. "O-oh...I meant for the Inn...but if that's what you want to do, I won't stop you." She smiled with amusement at the thought...a painting of herself and Sosol. Where would she put it? Above her mantle back home? That could work...but she'd have to make sure to stick with him. Nothing would be more awkward than a painting of an ex.

Shouldn't be that tough...he's everything you'd probably look for in a man... "Well, where to start looking is the question...there has to be some use for your skills..."

"Well, I'm more or less untrained. I've graduated college with a fine arts degree, but I have no real-world skills. I think where people start with this is fast food, right?" The majority of his impression of normal living had come from movies and hearsay.

Azana smiled, twitching a little at Remy's oblivious question. He doesn't...really think that...does he? She thought before taking a breath and trying to set him on a less humiliating course. She could hardly imagine a vampire serving up burgers at the local shack...

"That's...more for high-school and college students," she started, though she wasn't much more familiar with the professional world than he was. "If you've graduated college already, you can probably get an entry level position somewhere. It'll be kind of dull, but it pays a bit better and you could learn some skills along the way."

"Alternatively, you could try asking around...never underestimate the power of a few good connections," she said enthusiastically, remembering that it was how she ended up where she did. No connection like your own family...

"No? But I heard anyone could get hired there..." he said, unsure. "And, um, my parents said I was dead, which I guess I kinda am, but not in the way they said, so my connections are kind of..." he trailed off, then looked up.

"What kind of entry-level job?"

(I have to get going now...I'll be back in a few hours if you're on!)

((^_^ I'll see what I can do. Depends on how the evening turns out.))

Azana's rather comical tone softened when Remy mentioned his lack of connections. In a way, though, they were right...he was, technically, dead. But since when did that stop anything anymore?

"Well, 'Sol kind of stepped into the empty position because he literally couldn't go anywhere else...but I see the point. With Zulma on indefinite hiatus, the Inn might use a couple more people on staff..." She knew full well that it wasn't her decision to make...but the person with that authority had vanished. The Inn had to go on, with or without her.

"As far as entry-level jobs, they're usually things like being a secretary, or data entry. They're pretty simple and don't require much besides being able to type, answer a phone, and smile. It kind of stifles individuality, though..." She, in all truth, hated the idea of being part of any politics...whether in the GMO, a corporate office, or even in high society.

Erik walked over. "Whatcha talkin' about Azana?" He asked. "Somebody digging for a job?" He asked. He was almost completely pblivious, he'd only heard the last part of it.

"Mm, those sound..." he said, searching for a nice way to say 'boring'. "...platitudinous. How come they don't have any interesting ones? I like this Inn, but I spend all my time here already. I'm restless!"

"Why don't you learn how to defenestrate people?"He asked Remy. "It's always helped me before, it's pretty fun." Erik said.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 08, 2010 5:30 pm

"Throw someone out a window? There's nothing to that..." Remy said, shaking his head.

"Haven't you ever tried it, I got paid for that a few times, ever heard of the Defenestration of Prague?" He asked. "Yeah, throwing people out of high rise windows pays better."
