Im Catholic, which is mostly friendly to many, but Christians that go by that specific and other branches are often mean mean mean. They are much more hard to accept gays and lesbians, while Catholics often embrace them, they want to be part, then let them. The Pope is doing a very very damn good job at reclaiming the Catholic faith and setting an example for all, many of the Cardinals didnt like him because of it, but this day in age, you have to, or be a failure for remaining in the past. Thats why i dont particularly like the Islamic faith, they are still till this day barbaric and use their faith as an excuse to become extremist. But every religion needs to update to the NOW rather to the back then.

Something that might make this chatroom turn into a religious debate. HAHA But I am a muslim. Though I dont share the perspective that most do.
I do believe in a God. But Im also a major in philosophy.

But my professor went through ALOT. LIKE ALOT. To the point that you cant blame him for his break down.. x.x

Thought you'd be Buddhist. Haha, get it? Nirvana, Buddhism?
Bad pun? Yes.

;D Good one. Hahaha I actually got it when I got deep into Nirvana's music. Then I played with some words, and got my username hahaha

@Kit- I can see the name part, and trapping it in it.
But I do believe that we identify God under human terms such as good, powerful because it's all we know. The definition, I believe, varies from person to person. There is always more than one interpretation of something, I believe, and I think this is what makes us limited as humans.

We become limited to our theories, and thoughts. And realize this is as far as we can ever go. We put value in objects, and play with them.. tricking ourselves into thinking that these are what life represents.
I think there is an afterlife, because of it. And I think this afterlife, doesn't need words to communicate with, or images. Simply concepts.

Also.. holy books like the Torah, Quran and the Bible are basically telling the same stories, only in different ways. It's even more interesting when you evaluate the time during which it happened.. it's a rather intriguing timeline. Hahaha

I think you're missing a lot of the politics here, Alicia. Hahah Blaming a religion for how a group acts is not all that logical. x-x Think about it, have you ever ready anything close to the religion? If you haven't, how would you know their definition of what they claim is "Jihad" is correct? Just because they "say so" doesn't mean it's true. Hahaha
There's much, much more to this story. You could be right, but remember to keep your thoughts open to other possibilities.

I'm protestant, I must be very intolerant of gays. xD

My actual religious opinion is really complicated and I think that it goes far beyond what we see and hear. Anyone who practices common sense as a virtue should realize that reality and sense itself doesn't exist. There is absolutely no logical explanation to virtually 99.9% of what exists within this universe. With that in mind God is not so simple to explain either. Everything is extremely convoluted and impossible to reason with.

The universe itself might not be a conscious. Perhaps there is simply an entity within it that has made things up as he went. Or perhaps it plays itself out. Or perhaps nothing.

I do believe that there is a higher power behind the happenings of earth, however. And I do believe that it is Abrahamic, simply because of the way that the Abrahamic religions came to be, and how --further-- they quickly began to dominate virtually the entire world.

That's why I consider myself Christian. In honesty I couldn't see much of a difference in myself if I considered myself Muslim. They are too similar for me to distinguish them entirely, I believe that it is possibly one God but with two renditions of them.

I chose the Christian rendition mostly because of my Western heritage and because of my personal opinion about the bible as opposed to the quran. Though both are certainly impressive reads.

Personally.....

I practice religious tolerence, i myself am Agnostic. I have no problem talking to people about their religion or belifs or mine. But just a back and fourth conversation is hard without pressing belifs on someone else which i also understand.

But i dont think there is a god really.

The poweful entity has the ability to summon lightning and mask thei presence. Even becoming anything else they could fathom.

This with an entity that can claim any form it wishes i think it disrespectful to give such a diety a name and to trap it in one given name. this being has problly graced the presence of many people and they all inteeperetted what it said diffeently creating more religions. MAN formed tomes and books to translate what they thought the message was and its meaning. Resulting in all the different religions.

But as i stated this is just my opinion.

Religious tolerance is the best! But you have to immerse yourself in it. Religious relativism is my goal. To accept something is one matter, to understand it is a matter all its own.

I like the concept you proposed in that paragragh though, and it is similar belief shared by Bahai.(May have spelled that wrong). Simply put, all religions are rays produced by the same sun. They produce an aspect of an image, but not the whole. Kind of like seeing the individual trees that all stem from the same forest.

I am a very open minded person, but everything is modified, there is no truth, cause you read books written by people yes? If you take information from what they are saying, then the whole "Because they say so", wouldnt that make it partially false as well? Think about that! OPEN MINDED!! XD

Thats all i try to do. If i don't know what im talking about then i just listen and pose questions. People tend to forget a conversation entails listening and talking. Most people just talk instead of responding and that is what turns me off from most religion and religious people. i really hate when they answer a question with something abstract like a quote frim their bible or bible like book tht can be interpreted 1000000000X different ways. I like straight answes is all

I like straight answers as well, i dont dive into the immersion of stories, cause thats what they are, a bunch of stories that are made to spread ideas. I honestly prefer is there and is there not.

But if you know people use it as an excuse, then why hate Islam for it? o.o

I've noticed, but also remember that there was a time before Judaism (so even before Islamic and Christian ideals even came about), where people would act with moral stability.
Of course, hahaha Everything can be questioned, including religion. Science. Reality itself.
You can't conclude that anything is real, nor can you conclude that they're not. But as far as you know, because you are thinking, it's possible that you do exist. Still, your reality is questionable.

Everything is a perspective, yes. Hahaha everything is truth, to be honest. Because everything is relative.

I'm a Cartesian thinker~ ;D Hahah I double in philosophy and psych.

Valid points my good man.

The abrahamic religions are the big three. They make up a vast majority of the world's population. 'Cept Hinduism. Hinduism is a close fourth. I digress though as I am more interested in having a question answered.

Do you believe that there could be more than one of these beings could be in this plane of existence?
