Im Catholic, which is mostly friendly to many, but Christians that go by that specific and other branches are often mean mean mean. They are much more hard to accept gays and lesbians, while Catholics often embrace them, they want to be part, then let them. The Pope is doing a very very damn good job at reclaiming the Catholic faith and setting an example for all, many of the Cardinals didnt like him because of it, but this day in age, you have to, or be a failure for remaining in the past. Thats why i dont particularly like the Islamic faith, they are still till this day barbaric and use their faith as an excuse to become extremist. But every religion needs to update to the NOW rather to the back then.

I think you're missing a lot of the politics here, Alicia. Hahah Blaming a religion for how a group acts is not all that logical. x-x Think about it, have you ever ready anything close to the religion? If you haven't, how would you know their definition of what they claim is "Jihad" is correct? Just because they "say so" doesn't mean it's true. Hahaha
There's much, much more to this story. You could be right, but remember to keep your thoughts open to other possibilities.

Politics do not belong with religion, nor does religion belong in politics. And i never said its the religion, i said many use it as an excuse. And i dont know if you notice, but religion has a great influence in how people act, there are many things people wouldn't do if they didnt belong to a specific religion in the first place. I am a very open minded person, but everything is modified, there is no truth, cause you read books written by people yes? If you take information from what they are saying, then the whole "Because they say so", wouldnt that make it partially false as well? Think about that! OPEN MINDED!! XD

But if you know people use it as an excuse, then why hate Islam for it? o.o

I've noticed, but also remember that there was a time before Judaism (so even before Islamic and Christian ideals even came about), where people would act with moral stability.
Of course, hahaha Everything can be questioned, including religion. Science. Reality itself.
You can't conclude that anything is real, nor can you conclude that they're not. But as far as you know, because you are thinking, it's possible that you do exist. Still, your reality is questionable.

Everything is a perspective, yes. Hahaha everything is truth, to be honest. Because everything is relative.

I'm a Cartesian thinker~ ;D Hahah I double in philosophy and psych.

Never said i hated Islam either, 2 things you need to reread, if there is one thing i hate is when people say false things about my statements. I dislike it because many use it as an excuse for extremism and the barbaric aspects of Sharia Law. Now to make it clear, im not saying all of the Sharia Law is bad, im saying some of the aspects of it are very barbaric. I have taken a look at the laws because i studied aspects of laws because of my Crime Scene Management major.

You didn't use the term hate, but admittedly it could be implied when you said that you dislike it. Easy misunderstanding. Now I am not joining in this healthy debate, but I do want it on the record that most religions have committed atrocities in the name of religion. The Crusades. The harsh treatment of the untouchables in India. The current Conflict in Israel/Palestine. The point I am trying to make is that extremists should not be the basis for which we judge religions.

I dont have anything against Islam, i dont like how its being used, thats why i dont like religions that much in the first place. They only cause trouble, just like political parties.

Well kinda depends how he looks like cause it would be good to try and kinda match, but then again, if we do that, then we are kinda lacking the parents. XD

That is true of most, but not all. Some religions promote peace and over all good will between all. They are just obscured by the more "mainstream" ones, to put it in hipster terms.

There are some things you don't talk about with people, religion being one of them. Blood is thicker than water ~ [ Even though the meaning is for something else irrelevant, it can be taken into other matters aswell ]

Then if you hate that people use it an excuse, why hate the religion? You should hate the act of making excuses, rather than the excuse itself.
I don't think it's Sharia law you should be evaluating.. I think you should evaluate peoples interpretation of the law.

It's not at ALL what you think it is. Hahah most people go with what scholars say, which is not a completely reliable source of information if you're trying to understand something. They will ALWAYS give you their own perspective, not guide you to believe your own thing. Most of the scholars are relying on materialistic views to interpret meanings that are more metaphorical.

I am Muslim, and I am aware of Sharia Law. And I can tell you, because I am one, and I have studied them. Hahah it's not what you think it is. Be careful of what you read and how you're interpreting them.

Just want to share my own religious views, though I kind of missed the heated debate. I usually say I'm atheist, but more so I'm agnostic, and more specifically I'm a gaia theorist. I believe that the earth itself is an organism and that we, along with everything else, acts as "cells", "bones", and "membrane". Through evolution, we make it better and more efficient. Right now, I believe humans to be acting the "brain" of the earth, creating regulations that fight "cancers" and "diseases" ruining the health of the planet.
Of course, that's more of my philosophical stance. I still call myself atheist.

Edit: Ah, another thing. I always liked the Islamic religion more than the other two Abrahamic religions. They really captured what they wanted to portray, I think, though some interpretations got screwed up and made terrorists. But, y'know, what didn't?

Fun fact, the Romans were actually crucifying mostly Jewish extremists because, while the Roman culture basically let every god into their empire and lore, the Jews believed their one God to be the only one true God and didn't like being part of the Roman's polytheist culture. Thus, some turned to terrorism against the empire and were executed, eventually leading to Jesus being executed, not for being an extremist, but starting a large movement that the Romans found threatening.
Later on came the crusaders, then the KKK, and so forth. Lots of extremism is connected to religion. In fact, it could be said extremism is a child of overzealous faith. Islam is just getting a lot of attention because it has the most recent extremists recking havoc.
