DANDIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!! Or I guess it's now just DIIIIIIIIII!!!!!
I missed ya'll too! Things have been, hectic to say the least over the past two years. Spark Notes version:
Graduated from College (Bachelors).
Moved back home and started Grad School (to get Masters).
Grad School is hard... very hard... and very time consuming (but totally worth it!).
Working for the University, too, to help pay for Grad School.
Got engaged while working on thesis.
Married now (2 months ago), still working on thesis.
I thought of ya'll often over the past 2 years, but after spending all day staring at a computer screen for work/school... it was hard to continue to do so when I had free time. Well, that's not totally true. For the first year, I'd be on Skype with my then-boyfriend in the evening. We met in college and became awesome friends but didn't start dating until we went our separate ways and realized we didn't want to give up on those feelings we'd both been secretly (for various reasons) harboring for each other. When he moved here to be closer to me, I'd spend my afternoons/evenings at his place.
Free time is a precious commodity in grad school, and I had so little of it. But I find myself with more of it now that we're married and don't feel like we have to be actively doing things together -- we can relax and just exist in the same room, doing different things on our computers, and be perfectly happy.
So I've been thinking more and more about you guys the past few days/weeks and finally managed to dredge up my account. I'm amazed I remembered my password lol!
I think a few people tried to send me PMs over the past couple years, but apparently my inbox was full, so they got lost in cyber space... |

Oh my! Congratulations on graduating, grad school, and your marriage! It sounds like despite the lack of free time you've been fantastic. That makes me very happy.
I graduated with my BS in Chemistry in May and started grad school this August. I'm working on getting a PhD in Analytical Chemistry, so I really understand having next to know free time. It's a lot of work but I'm excited to see where this goes. Currently working with a 3D printer right now, so that's awesome.
So now that you've got some more time on your plate are you going to try to roleplay again? Or are you just here to hang around? Also, we have a Guild Skype group. It's a lot of fun. If you want to join in add me on skype, username is Nuppins. |

Aren't 3D printers awesome, though? I'm in Modeling and Simulation, but I'm doing a good bit with robotics. We do this robotics camp every summer and have used our 3D printer to make custom parts.
All the power to you going to get your PhD! I'm stopping at my Masters, since in Engineering, getting your PhD (at least right off the bat) really limits you to teaching, and as much as I love the research community (and sharing learning and knowledge), I feel that's not my calling. Most engineering companies feel you're almost over qualified if you have your PhD and would rather, if you want to get it, that you be working for them while you're getting it.
I'd love to get back into roleplaying with you guys. RP is still a passion of mine. My husband and I table-top quite often in various genres (Pathfinder, Star Wars, GURPS Supers, World of Darkness). It's usually been 1-on-1 games, but we've got some friends in the area that we now get together with from time to time as well.
Ah Skype. I've honestly been avoiding installing it on my new desktop (I have joined the PC master race, and life is good, lol). I have a couple high school friends that pounce on me whenever I log on, which is usually for work/school related meetings. If I do get on now-a-days for pleasure (gaming with my husband and friends), I'm usually thus pretending to be offline. I might see about getting on from time to time to chat with ya'll though. Would be fun, methinks!
But yes, roleplaying. I'd love to get back into it here. I've missed Rini, lol, though I know after 2 years of inactivity and what looks like a wipe/overhaul of the forums, that's very highly likely impossible... unless ya'll need a villain to sweep in from the shadows, hehehe.
EDIT: I feel so silly. Simple solution: create a new skype account. I have done so: katimus_p is the username, based off my Steam name, katimusprime, which was unfortunately taken... sad day. But yeah, I'd be up for chatting with ya'll from time to time! :END EDIT |

Thank you! I'm continuing on through to a PhD because I want to head a research and development department someday. I just hope I don't get trapped in academia. That'd be hell. The politics are so frustrating.
You should remake Rini! We reset the guild so everything was wiped clean. I remade Aki, went genjutsu route this time around. It's a lot of fun to rethink her. Change her up a bit. So please, sweep in from the shadows with the delightfully spooky Rini and her friendly pal Jashin! |

Yeah the research part is awesome. That's the sort of thing I'm working with for the university right now. The politics of the academic side though... I could do without.
Yeah I noticed that when reading through some stuff. The new system seems interesting and might take some working through for me to understand fully. I'm not sure I have the heart to totally rebuild Rini from the ground up... from Genin up that is. It could be interesting to do some things differently... and there were some aspects of how she developed before that I wasn't fully happy with... but I dunno.
If her fully formed self were needed for some arc, though... I'd be happy to "bring her back from the dead" lol! |
