Here's my report for Comic Con, as best as I could get. It's long, so beware!
Preview Night - Stace and I worked at the Art Show from 11:30a-2:30p. Never doing that again. It's boring. Had to sit around while the CC staff looked around for their hooks and stuff that went with the board panels. Afterwards I helped artists hook up their art to the boards, which took a while. Not very fun. Seriously. Waited a couple hours afterwards for Preview Night to start, and Stacey took a nap. Downstairs, Preview Night started and people were running around. I can't remember the last time I saw a Dealers Hall so empty...well...walkable at least. Got a lot of free stuff during Preview Night, all in a Dark Horse bag.
Thursday - We didn't volunteer. This was supposed to be our free day so we could get into the Twilight panel. Didn't happen. People had been camped out for Hall H since TUESDAY NIGHT. Not fair, but oh well. So I changed out of my Twilight clothes at my car (we actually decided to park for the next four days of Comic Con, not including Prev. Night). Wore my Renaissance Maid Marian dress plus a pair of clearly visible sneakers even though I wore a pair of black heels for about three hours before giving out from tiredness. Saw the twins, got hugs from them. I wasn't planning on doing so, but I guess I was happy to see them? It was really unexpected. I wanted to avoid them but they were right there in front of me. Eventually I got a call and a text from the people from my Star Wars club, telling me that we have a booth on the Mezzanine. I took Stace there after we searched around for it and when we did, they gave us free drinks : ) I lived on Gatorade and water for the next four days. Got free Twilight and New Moon deck playing cards : ) Nothing special about the card figures though, it was just the backing that had the book covers on them. Other TL freebies consisted of New Moon postcards (the covers of the books). Obtained an Edward manga-version pin from HachetteBooks (Booth 1116, we spent most of our hours there if we weren't at the Star Wars Society booth), also getting some free romance novels. Heck yeah! Skipped my Kingdom Hearts and Death Note gatherings (DN didn't happen, but I let Sharon handle the KH one) because I was in my Maid Marian costume.
Veronica and Jessie won a pair of tickets to the Twilight screening that was that afternoon, but they didn't wanna go so they gave me the tickets. Well so I went with Stace, her brother, and their friend, all of who had tickets way before I did. Either way I got in with them and we effing met some of the cast of Twilight as well as got cool freebies (consisting of the official lipgloss, "Lip Venom". Don't ever try that stuff...it burns!, some of the Sweethearts Forbidden Fruit candies, and a couple of Tonner promotional cards for the dolls). The entire cast was at the theatre but I didn't see ALL of them. The cast that was in our theatre room was Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Rachelle Lefevre, Billy Burke, Justin Chon, Christian Serratos, and a couple of new people from the upcoming movie. Of course I took as many pics as I could. Some people saw Kristen Stewart getting remakeupped in the lobby, but I didn't get to see her : From the panel today though, people said she was high as a kite. Rob left the building as well so I didn't get to see him. But there's paparazzi pics everywhere so it's not hard to miss. After the cast greeting, most of the people left the theater coz we were just watching a rescreening of Twilight, not New Moon but we stayed and got free New Moon posters, signed by various members of the cast. My poster was signed by Nikki Reed (Rosalie) so HECK YEAH! I LOVED this day!
Friday - Volunteered 7am at Attendee Pre-Registration. Not bad, but I had to pick up and dump everyone's registration papers for three hours. Met some really cool people who were CCI staff (but didn't get to see Comic Con...at least they got paid). No gatherings today but we got more freebies and still worked the booth. I think it's safe to say that most of my time at CC was devoted to working. Worked with a cool Filipino guy named Dayle. He's not someone I would date though. Met the guy from Renaissance Faire back in May who helped me pick out a dagger to go with my costume, but I didn't buy one. I recognized him. I don't know how, but I did, so we got to talking and I found out that his booth was next to KriKri's booth. So we all spent a lot of time on the Mezzanine this year! I uh...this is when I lost my bracelet and I got super, SUPER upset. Slept when I got home, and Sharon made dinner (she slept over for the past couple of days) so I was very pissy. Obtained a Bella pin.
Saturday - The Final Fantasy gathering day. Still worked Pre-Reg with some Irish hotties who were here for the summer (and I DEFINITELY wanted to get their myspace or email or something but I didn't). Also worked with Filipino guys, and we were handing out the CCI bags, yelling our hearts out going "FREE STUFF!" Still pissy when I woke up this morning though, but at least my energy was channeled into something else other than anger. I got to play cheerleader and my "team" won. Our boss said that our group was like the best group of volunteers he ever had because we were so enthusiastic about our stuff. The other groups I did notice were just saying "Free stuff...yeah...ok" but we attracted the most people because of our energy. I really had fun, but my throat hurt afterwards so I downed about 2 bottles of Gatorade at the SDSWS booth. Stacey fell asleep in a chair there, so I left for a bit to see the FF gathering. I didn't cosplay...and there is FINALLY a Sephiroth at our gathering. No freaking fair!! There's always next year, but of course I was distracted by the unfortunate events of the day before. Trevor found me somewhere and I latched onto his arm then he took me to some D&D gaming area where I saw his brother who freaked out and got pissed that I was wearing a Twilight shirt. It's Trev's fault though, he got me into the series! They're my best friends and those guys didn't wanna hug me anymore. Maan...whatever. I was assigned to work the SDSWS booth, so Stacey obtained a Jacob pin for me. Shawn was sitting behind us (he was the shift after us) and this guy dressed as a 300 soldier came down the escalator. Stace and I were blushing and squealing, so Shawn embarrassed us by calling him over, going "EXCUSE ME SIR! I BELIEVE THESE LADIES WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A PICTURE WITH YOU!" and well, we got the picture on Stace's camera. Dude, that man's abs were FIIIIIIIIINE! During Veronica's shift earlier that day, Tyrese passed by our booth and she chased after him, going "DAMN he's fine!" Left early so I could get some sleep, plus Mom and especially my aunt weren't too appreciative of me staying out till 3am.
Sunday - Worked a Smallville panel and didn't know we were going to do so. Got free hats for that and I discovered TOM WELLING. Ohmigod...that man is FINEEEEEEE!! Star Wars Society had a panel to do, so they gave me my own official club t-shirt...FINALLY. But I have to pay $10 for it so, whatever. At least I have a t-shirt now. Got to hang out with Harold, Bruce's son who's the same age as me, but I'm older by a month. Left early again, just because I could and the con closed at 5pm.
Overall I didn't really cosplay what I wanted to because I never finished my costumes. Lots of unexpected things happened, and I met more celebrities within these four days than I thought I was ever gonna meet in a lifetime. It's so great : )
