"E-Eli?! But he's--" Sosol stopped, a faint smile crossing his face. Gren must have told him...he...I knew he cared.
Kageko decided to join the group again, though her depression was thinly veiled. "Do you know any card games, Kageko? I can teach you a few...not much else to do right now."

Kageko looked up at Sosol's suggestion and replied, "Well... I know a couple but not many.... Sure, I guess it wouldn't be bad to learn a couple more."

"I heard card games," Azana said with a smile, arriving downstairs with a slight bounce. She felt the loss as much as the rest of them, but Angeles never really held her in much esteem, so she wasn't going to let that vampire bring her down. "Which?"
"Crazy Eights, maybe?" He asked, looking more at Kageko than Azana, as the younger girl was the one who was going to choose.

"Good answer!" Azana gave with a laugh, pulling up a chair. "Crazy Eights it is! Shuffle it, Sol...I've got the explanation."
Sosol blinked momentarily before beginning a near-perfect bridge shuffle, the cards bending in graceful arcs. Azana was acting a little too cheerful...
"Alright...We each get hands of eight cards. The goal is to get rid of them all. There's a center pile, and when it's your turn, you need to lay down a card of the same suit, er, the symbol things...or the same number." She stopped momentarily, hoping Kageko was keeping up. "If you have an Eight, it's a wild card, and you can use it to change the suit to whatever you want. If you can't do anything, you draw a card; if that card works, you can play it. Otherwise, you keep it and pass your turn."
Sosol followed the explanation, making sure it was simple enough for a new card player. As Azana finished, he dealt eight cards to each of them, flipping over the top card of the deck to start the pile.

Kageko listened and kept up... mostly. Suits, yes she knew what suits were. "Okay," she responded in an unsure voice as she picked up her cards and looked them over, "I think I get it...."

"Don't worry," Sosol reassured her, catching her hesitation, "you'll pick it up once you see a game in action." He set down a card on the center one of the same suit.
Azana went next, placing the same numbered card in clubs. "Your turn."
((And I really, really, really should be focusing on my final papers...I'm such a bad student. sweatdrop ))

Kageko looked through her cards and found neither the correct number nor suit. A bit dispirited, she reached out to the deck of cards, only to draw another card that didn't match. "I guess I pass?" she asked as she placed the card into her hand.

Hoshiken listened to the rules, but did not join the game, instead returning to the seat as Kage left it and merely sat down and watched.

Gren lurked into the Inn, a late night of work and a lack of information wearing him thin. He'd ensured that he'd kept himself busy, but was rather weary, through fury and exhaustion. "Hello..."

Looking up from the still on-going card game between herself, Sosol, and Azana, Kageko waved in greeting at Gren as she commented, "You look tired. What happened?".

He gave her a defeated look. "The last few days have been unpleasant at best. Any news about Eleanora? Angeles?"
He pointed. "And who's that guy?"

Kageko looked over at where Gren was pointing. "Hoshiken," she replied, "He's Angeles's dragon summon and is currently in his human form," she paused a bit before answering Gren's first question, "As for Eleanora, I believe that MacPere has taken her to a hospital. Angeles.... Well, she has decided to stay at the Valentine Manor."

He glanced the new chap up and down, nodding approval. "Fine...and she can stay there for a while, I have nothing nice to say to her right now."
He blinked. "Eli took her..?" He smiled a gentle, and rather rare, honest smile. "Now that's a good sign..." He picked up his case with a sigh, heading for the stairs. "If you'll excuse me...I'm pretty tired."

Kageko nodded as Gren took up his case and went back upstairs and returned to her card game. she thought to herself as she put down a card on the pile and watched as Azana did so as well.
