I know what you mean. It's difficult to draw things that have a curved surface. Sometimes drawing at an angle can be equally as difficult, depending on the stance or position.

It may be apart of the Sand Village's culture. I read through all the chapter and it only metioned his tattoo and the meaning of his name. It may or may not be revealed. If it isn't, it was designed to make readers or watchers like us.
