The lighter wolf stepped forward next to his brother. The entire group of animals and humans were looking at them as they stood at the very edge of the hill.
"You know you aren't very good at this." The lighter wolf said to the black one. The black one scoffed.
"It's not like we do it all the time." The lighter wolf laughed at this. He proceeded to introduce them.
"I am Radian. This is my brother, the leader of our clan, Adrian." Adrian lowered his head in a small bow. Radian continued.
"The hill upon which you stand is sacred. It has been guarded by the sacred magic of a dragon warrior. Two years ago, a midst the Dragon's War, the battle of Le'ai, which this place is named, took place. In remembrance of that battle and those that fought here, one of the few dragon riders left in this world, Elijah Almay'ara, blessed this land with protection. We, the wolves of our clan, have stayed behind to protect it as well. Almay'ara wanted a peaceful future for this place, something that wouldn't go to waste. Her blessing was meant to be a "guardian to all creatures who are righteous in whatever quest they pursue."
He paused for a moment and continued, "Our borders haven't been breached, which indicates that you've come from inside our boundaries. This can only mean that the quest you righteous four pursue...begins here."

Radian paused to let it all sink in. It was a lot to handle, but they'd have to bear it, because there was more. He could sense that they were not from this world.

Flynn tried to listen carefully but it was dizzying. She had made her way behind Joseph and was gripping his arm. What is this wolf talking about?
"Dragons..." She heard him whisper. This sent even more thoughts running through her head. Dragons. Professor Kirk. Historical and Ancestral Ages.
She almost passed that thought up completely when she caught herself.
Historical and Ancestral Ages.
Dragons.
Mythical creatures.
Magic.
Historical and Ancestral Ages.

"I know where we are!" She yelled out emphatically. And as crazy as she thought it was, it was the only answer. The wolves looked at her with a smirk in their eyes, Joseph turned to her in confusion. She couldn't believe it. She had figured it out and he hadn't. She passed this thought up for a moment, however, and blurted out the answer.
"We're in the same place! Just...thousands of years earlier. Don't you see? This is exactly what Kirk was talking about. This is the world before the tyrannical reign of our people"
Part of Flynn had no idea what she was saying, but another part of her thought that it all made sense.

Wesley shivered slightly as night began to set in. This was too much information for her, at least with the ways things were today. She shook her head slightly. Samson moved up beside her quietly and nudged one of her hands with his nose. "Mistress." he said in a quiet purr of a voice as he nudged his way onto her lap. "You must be brave. You have it in you and I have seen it." He began to purr quietly and she simply held him, listening as the others continued to speak around her.

As Joe offered his hand to her Wesley blinked up at his hand for a moment, her eyes narrowing uncertainly for a moment before she unclasped one of her hands from where it was holding her legs close to her chest and then reached up and grasped his hand, Samson leapt from her lap as she did so, eyes watching Joe carefully.

Darius listened as the wolves spoke and then when Flynn had her sudden exclimation his eyes grew wide and then he blinked slightly, thinking things over. "It is possible...And perhaps even probable...But why...?"

"Sacred...? Te-Tell us more about what happened, please." Wesley spoke quietly but with a sort of...Confidence, though after Joe had helped her up she had side stepped away from him slightly. If what Flynn said was right there was really no way they could confirm it. At least not as far as she could think of.

Rish nodded and it took him a moment but he regained his "demonic" forum and giving Elijah a tentative smile he stepped in close to her, putting his hand on her shoulder and slowly but surely he envisioned all he could of Le'ai without remembering what had actually happened there and then he opened his wings.

It would likely be a very odd sensation for Elijah but within moments they would reach the edge of the meadow where the main fighting had occurred. Rish back stepped away from Elijah, stumbling slightly as he closed his glowing eyes and began to rein in his power. After a minute his wings did fade and he opened his eyes again, though he was now shaking. "Forgive me. I've not cut it this close to how long I can control it in some time..." he shivered and slowly stood, his eyes going over the area carefully.

As Wesley stood, Joe gave her a small serious, slightly worryingly look, but then focused his attention back on the wolf, Radian. He noticed the cat giving him a wary look, and he only snorted in retort.
"Dragons..." He whispered. Dragons! Professor Kirk was right! They really existed! He barely felt Flynn grip his arm before she cried out.
He turned to face her and listened to her intently.
He was surprised, but impressed. She had a really good point. It made sense.
He looked to Darius, thinking about his question.
"I don't know why we're here, but I'm sure it has at least something to do with what's going on back home. The extra security and tightness around anything to do with the government-Kirk's disappearance. It's not just a coincidence."
They were only left to contemplate his statement before Radian walked towards Wesley and began speaking sincerely.

"This country was once in the midst of a terrible war. Those still left alive called it the Dragon's War. Dragons and their riders fought desperately to save themselves, their people, and the race of the dragons. But they fought...and failed. Two particular dragons and their riders and companions formed a bond of friendship in the midst of this war and banded together. Our clan met them soon after they had met themselves, and we agreed to help them. But something came that we could not fight off." Radian continued his story as he looked off the hill and into the field where he remembered the battle of Le'ai, he continued, "He was a great wielder of magic and a terrific rider. He broke the two riders from within and it failed them at the battle of Le'ai. After the battle had ceased, the evil beast of a man had possessed the soul of one dragon and rider, leaving all others broken and bleeding. The rider that remained blessed this land with a pure magic, one that would protect it from being a site of battle again. That would protect that evil beast from coming back here ever again. The one place that remains safe...for all."

Silence persisted as Radian had finished. Flynn and Joe were lingering upon his words. Was this really the past of their homeland? Wars waging and people dying? Flynn shivered slightly as she took a step back and rubbed her face with her hands. Everything was giving her a headache. She just wanted to go home. Now.
Mom, dad. Aunt Lizzy, Uncle Ben, Hyrum, Audrey...
They were all very far away right now.

Adrian's words brought her back to reality.
"Ah. I believe we have company." A sparkle in his eyes as a smirk grew on his mouth.

-

Rish put his hand on her shoulder as she closed her eyes. She wasn't quite sure what was supposed to happen.
Suddenly a wave of pressure flowed through Elijah's body, making her want to throw up.
Just as quickly as it had come, the wave passed and the feeling of wanting to vomit no longer existed.
She opened her eyes. She couldn't believe it, they were here, at the edge of the meadow-in Le'ai.
She smirked for a moment as she was looking around and said, "I have to admit, I'm certainly glad you're on our side." She chuckled a bit and turned around to see him stumble slightly. She immediately became serious as she gripped his arm gently.
"Rish-you alright?" The glow in his eyes faded, as well as his wings as he seemed to go back to normal. A wave of guilt flooded over Elijah. She had pushed him, and he was shaking. She sighed at his apology. She should be the one apologizing.
"It's alright. It was my fault to ask something like this of you. I'm sorry." She sincerely meant it.
After she saw he was on his feet with good balance, she joined him in scanning the meadow.

Wesley ignored Joe's look, as she often ignored many looks that she recieved. Plus, at that moment Radian stepped toward her and she had to grit her teeth slightly in order to ignore the slight desire her body had to flee from before him.

Darius glanced toward Joe and nodded slightly, true enough. But he still wanted to know how and why. And why the four of them? Or were there others...? And if so, why were they not here...? Though if what the wolf said was true than whatever had brought them here would have wanted them to be safe so if there were others they would be nearby.

So much lose...Their own home, even if it did share the same land that they were now on, hadn't been so raveged in a long while and despite having read of war many times it was hard for Wesley to imagine such things happening on this very soil. "...Why not protect every place in such a manner, then?" she asked, tilting her head slightly.

"Company...?" Darius asked, eyebrows pulling down as he turned to look in the direction that Radian was looking, though he'd be hard pressed to see anything or anyone.

-

Rish laughed lightly, "You did not request it, I voluntered, remember?" he eyes fixed on the rocky path the tall grass in front of them and the cave and finally, the cliff face above. "Are there people up there...?" he asked in a quiet voice, his eyes narrowing slightly.

-

Pip wriggled slightly, her dark eyes half closed as she stared out over at Cerast who sat with her back toward Pip. How boring this was, mused the dragon to herself. Perhaps, though, that was because it was so rutine by now.

Cerast spoke as loud as she could, but Pip payed no attention to what she said, this had been what they'd been doing for....She couldn't remember how long. But as Marcus walked into the hall, clapping lazily, she watched him carefully.

"You continue ton improve, always, your Majesty." he said, his voice like quiet and familar.

Cerast's silver hair was bound up and upon her head sat a golden circlet that clashed against her hair wonderfully. Cerast offered Marcus a smile but said nothing as she stood slowly and moved over to Pip.

It had been two years, but to the dragon and dragon rider it seemed much longer, that they had known the man that was their captor, though they couldn't, or wouldn't, remember this. To them he was Cerast's adviser. She had taken her place on the throne after the Dragon's War. Pain still existed within her people but she had stepped forward, thanking those who had given their lives for her and the like. The people had accepted her full heatedly, despite the cold look that always seemed to linger in her eyes.

"Magic stirs within Le'ai...What would you have me do M'lady?" Marcus asked in his still quiet voice.

Cerast looked at him with a bored expression and sighed, "Send someone...But don't tell them why. For if they have any impure intentions that woman's magic will deny them." she said, eyes narrowing at the thought of the only wild dragon rider out there. She opposed them, she and her friends, and Cerast couldn't for the life of her understand why.

Radian laughed slightly and faced again towards Wesley.
"You are very earnest. Don't lose that." He continued, "The magic used here is very rare. It is the power of dragon guardian. It does not simply have an endless flow. If I'm correct. It's been so long since I've been taught such things."
All of the sudden, a slight growl and what looked like a grin appeared on the face of Adrian, the black wolf sitting behind his brother. Radian looked back at him, looking for an answer.
It's the demon-boy, Adrian thought to Radian, which explained his grin. And the guardian.
Radian turned around towards the field answer his question, said, "Then again, you could always ask her yourself." His eyes studied the field. He could easily make out two people standing off in the distance, it would be harder for the humans though.
Howling from wolves were heard off in the distance. It was a welcome sign.

Flynn tried listening intently, but started getting distracted once Radian started talking again. It was getting dark soon. She wondered if her parents were looking for her right now. She was snapped back to the present by Joe's voice.
"Her? Nice." He smirked as Flynn's expression went flat and she slapped him on the back of the head.
"Ow! What?" He turned back to look at her and she gave him a threatening look, he only smiled and shrugged. She shook her head when he turned back around. She stared at the back of his head for a moment. She regretted slapping him. He had just been lying on ground unconscious just a few hours ago. She turned her gaze to the ground, cheeks burning slightly.

Joe turned his gaze from Flynn with a smirk still on his face to the open meadow, where he tried to make out a figure in the distance, but his eyes were messing with him and he couldn't really see anything.
"The...dragon guardian? Is here?" He asked Radian for confirmation. Maybe finally he would be able to get some real answers. Like how they had gotten here. Why they were here, and where Kirk was.
Finally, Joe thought he could make out a figure, coming out of the trees at the edge of the meadow. It looked like two figures actually.

Elijah smiled at his comment but quickly turned towards the cave and the hill at his next remark. She focused her gaze as well. Were these the people that had somehow gotten inside Le'ai? She reached for her sword, but forgetting she had unsheathed it before they left, she just felt her bare belt. She clenched her fist. j
Suddenly she heard the howl of wolves, coming...from what sounded like behind them. She let out a small sigh of relief. Even if the people inside Le'ai were hostile, the wolves had it under control.
She turned back towards Rish, and with determination and confidence said, "Come on-I bet the wolves are dying to see you. Hah. Let's see who exactly our 'friends' are atop that hill." She began walking towards the hill through the tall grass.
Memories of what had happened here clouded her thoughts, but she'd be dead before she'd let them show on her face.
I failed so many people. She thought with a small distasteful look on her face. She pushed her thoughts away and focused on what was ahead of her. As she drew closer, she didn't dare to believe what her eyes were showing her. She made out four human shapes, a horse, two wolves and....a cat?
She looked away just to give her eyes a break from reality. Is that really what she saw? As she looked around, she noticed that wolves were surrounding and following her towards the hill in the tall grass. She gave them a small sly smile. This reassured her that they were friendlies.
