fire_girl_1000 1) Who invited you? If you weren't invited, then why did you join (wow, that sounds kinda rude lol) I joined because I am starting to be a more "serious" fish care taker. 2) What are your fish keeping experiences- What kind of fish have you owned? I have owned bettas, shrimps, barbs, and plecos. 3) How long have you kept fish? I consider only one year my start of fish taking because I made the fatal mistake of putting a *cringes* betta in a bowl. Now my betta is in a tank. 4) And just for fun, what type of fish/set-up do you really, really, really want to have? Ethier discus or a clownfish reef tank... just clown fish.
Welcome!

1) Who invited you?
I wasn't invited, just kinda searched "fish" in the guilds and this came up
2) What are your fish keeping experiences- What kind of fish have you owned?
Just about everything below 12 inches, I used to have my 75, 55, 37, 29, 20, and 10 gallon tanks, but due to having to move I've had to sell off all but my largers
3) How long have you kept fish? I've had fish tanks since I was a kid, I haven't been maintaining my own since a couple years ago, haven't been serious about it til 2010
4) And just for fun, what type of fish/set-up do you really, really, really want to have? I'd love to have a colony of tropheus moorii one day, and a group of oscars, but these are for bigger guns than what I've got

So funny lol What are some of your favorite fish that you've kept? Bolivian Rams, Honduran Red Points, Convict cichlids, Festivums, and Angels are a few which always catch my eye. I've also always had striped raphael catfish for my vacuuming crew which makes my stocking of smaller fish nearly non existant.
I like watching the oscars interact with one another, and they seem to hang out with one another and create a social hierarchy when you get enough of them, but I'd need something of a 12 foot tank to get a proper group.
I wanna get the tropheus moorii more, but I'm gonna wait til I get a 6 foot tank for that, they aren't easy to care for, being tanganyikans, and they like being kept in groups of 30+.

I haven't had Bolivian rams, but I absolutely loved my GBR. He was a character. His favorite game was "Attack the Siphon" XD I haven't had the room to do any big Cichlids, but red points, angels and cons are definitely on my list lol I used to have a Rapheal cat, that I fish-sat for a few months. He was super cool! Would love to get another one some day as well smile
I haven't ever entertained the thought of owning African Cichlids, but I do like looking at other peoples :p

They do not live well in a typical tank, being black water fish they need the water to be a toasty 84 degrees and a ph lower than 6.5. They tend to only live like 2-5 years if kept in more cold, alkaline water, though their expected life span properly cared for is more like 10-15.

The one that I had was wonderful. He was super hardy and his colors were rediculously gorgeous. You can see him in the GBR care guide, I think. If not, I'll gladly track down his pic and post it LOL He was great until I moved back home, and the water here killed him :/ You could cycle a tank with the water here, no lie.

This guild seems kind of dead, but I'll go ahead and post here first. . .
1) Who invited you? If you weren't invited, then why did you join (wow, that sounds kinda rude lol) Was looking for goldfish threads in the pets forum and saw the captain's signature.
2) What are your fish keeping experiences- What kind of fish have you owned? I've been keeping goldfish for almost twelve years now, on and off. I've spent all that time reading up on goldfish on and off. They're my favorites and I know most about them, a bit bout betta fish, and not much about really any other fish. Sadly, my dad kept poisoning them when no one was there until I moved out, so I have nothing more than about seven months worth of tank work now. I'm limited in funds, really, but have an enabling boyfriend who thinks my excitement over my fish is cute.
3) How long have you kept fish? Ah, about twelve years now. My first fish were goldfish and the fancy varieties are my favorites. I have a soft spot for koi and hope to be able to afford keeping them one day.
4) And just for fun, what type of fish/set-up do you really, really, really want to have? I would love a couple hundred gallon 'indoor' pond for fancies and something similar outside for koi.
